Great food, awesome service, cool vibe and tables that can accommodate small and large groups! Arrived shortly after they opened on a Friday. Seated quickly and the waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu and specials. Portion size was perfect. Never felt rushed during our meal. We used to love coming here for the burgers, but they changed management in early 2026, and now everything is à la carte. Be prepared to spend $23 -$25 for a burger and fries, and if you want it cooked other than the medium well that they say it comes as standard, you will have to pay extra for that as well- I kid you not. Two burgers and fries (we split an order of fries), and we were out the door $54 later. It's good but not THAT good. I make it better at home on the grill, so we'll be looking for another place to do burgers. Not going back to Bootleggers again, just not worth the price, especially with the people who bring their 3-year-olds and let them scream at the top of their lungs (we counted 16 times while we were there) and didn't do anything about it. Mediocre service. Meal was served cold. Asked for it to be replaced with a hot sandwich and the server chuckled and asked if we wanted her to take the cold sandwich off the table. We said we preferred she bring a cooked sandwich and and she laughed again. When the bill came we said we shouldn't have to pay for the sandwich with one bite out of it. She said she would check with manager. She returned and said manager would allow 20% off. They lost a good customer that has brought several people here in the past. Never again! read more

Bootleggers was cool. It was on my list of restaurants to try in the Lynchburg Virginia area. We came here on a Friday night. For a party of 3 there was about a 35 min wait. During the wait I ordered a drink at the bar. Pretty decent old fashioned. I've had better. The bartenders were all super nice and helpful. Once seated we ordered apps . Panko crusted onion rings and deviled eggs. Both were good. The portions were perfect for sharing. Entrees: I had just the classic burger (with some pink). It was ok. Definitely seem to be missing something but I enjoyed the burger. Others in my party also had a burger with sweet potato fries and mini corn dogs and tots. They enjoyed their meals. I ordered a beer flight, 3 IPAs and a wheat beer to accompany my meal. The beers were nice. I really enjoyed the service and the ambiance was rustic, large pictures of working people was the decor. It was different but in a good way. Patio seating available and will be perfect in the warmer months ahead. I will definitely be back to this establishment located in downtown Lynchburg! I loved that pimento grilled cheese was on the menu here! I ordered it without the bacon and with a side of sweet potato fries. Both were delicious. The grilled cheese was filled with an adequate enough of cheese that was creamy and had the right amount of spice, but the bread was a bit burnt on the sides. I still thought the sandwich was enjoyable with well-balanced flavors. The fries were cooked perfectly. The service was prompt and friendly. We were able to eat outside, which was very nice, with a dog as well. I'd love to come back again to try more of what they have to offer. read more

Stopped by Bootleggers at night for a quick bite. I wish I was hungrier because the burgers looked amazing, but we just ordered lite bites to eat. My daughter ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. She enjoyed it, and I had tried some of the chicken which was especially good with a nice char! My wife and I shared an order of wings (half dry rub, half garlic parmesan) and loaded tater tots with cheese, bacon, sour cream and chives. The wings were above average, with good flavor, we both preferred the garlic parmesan. The tater tots also were good with the loaded toppings, but was a bit heavy for our appetite. The sauce also took away from the crispiness of the tots in the bottom which got a bit soggy, although the flavor of the sauce was quite good. I will be back when I am in town, I am still craving the burgers which looked and smelled amazing. read more

Bootleggers provides an excellent dinner environment for anyone in the Lynchburg area. There are a variety of great appetizers that are available to start off- such as the tremendous buffalo chicken dip. Furthermore, the portions sizes are very generous (especially with the sweet potato fries). You can sit in the relaxing booths, the bar, or get the outdoor view of the beautiful Lynchburg hills. The servers provide great recommendations on what to eat- but no matter what you get you should be satisfied. The only big issue with this restaurant is parking, as this is very tricky in Lynchburg, but this restaurant on the cliff is nevertheless a solid choice. read more

Got take out here while passing through. I got the bourbon mushroom burger and LOVED it. It's a little sweet and very tasty. My friend got the Hunter's burger and liked it as well. They were pretty packed (but it was a Friday night) so the order took a little longer than estimated but the staff was very nice and on top of it. This may be my favorite review to write, EVER! Two years ago, today, we went to Bootleggers for the first time. Like today, the weather was perfect and we started out enjoying an outdoor patio table. We were looking to move out of the Richmond area and hadn't really considered Lynchburg until that night. We had an enjoyable meal.... Great cocktail, beer list and burgers! Then off to El Jefe, a sister restaurant, where the bartender sealed the deal by sharing more about Lynchburg with us. Fast forward to today, as we began our evening at one of the outdoor patio tables, we noticed some of our dear friends nearing the restaurant! Of course we wanted to dine with them and were graciously moved to the covered patio area. Bootleggers still offers great cocktails ( I had the Blue Mountain Old Fashioned) and a well rounded craft beer menu. Burgers and fries are still the star but I loved my Buffalo Chicken Salad. Service was excellent! The setting is relaxing and inviting! We are so glad we moved to Lynchburg and have a wonderful spot to spent time with friends! read more

Bootleggers has become one of my favorite Lynchburg restaurants-I have been multiple times but I just recently realized how much I love this place! The restaurant is always clean and has such a lovely view thanks to being nestled up on the hill. The menu features burgers of course, and they do have a burger vegetarian option that is not listed on the menu: if any of the Bootleggers managers are reading this I would HIGHLY suggest putting it on the menu because the current menu does not indicate this option! I love the Bourbon Mushroom burger (sub veggie patty of course) and the Numero Uno is good as well. You don't want to miss their truffle parmesan fries and onion rings! But my favorite dish here is actually the Buffalo Cauliflower: it is so flavorful and if Bootleggers ever removes this from the menu I WILL cry. The drinks are also good-I usually opt for one of their seasonal choices. You also must try their boozy milkshakes-specifically the Caramel Bourbon-are you kidding me?! YUM. The service is also solid, and food is usually consistent and fresh. Thank you for having delicious options for everyone, Bootleggers! Please keep this up. My only criticism: they used to make their black bean burger in house, but they recently switched to a different patty. It is really good, but it is not as good as that house made bean burger! Bootleggers is basically an adult version of Red Robin. The burgers are amazing and come with very interesting toppings. I ordered the Port wine and Blue Cheese Burger which was awesome. I can't remember what my husband ordered, but I did a build your own. While it ended up being a $22 chicken sandwich, it was a beast and well worth every penny. The fries and onion rings are not included, which is a small negative, they still tasted delicious. A major negative for me was the lack of drinks they had to offer. While they had tons of alcoholic choices, they only had a limited selection of non alcoholic, so I ended up with just a water. The staff was amazing and attentive.
