Welcome to Wylie, Texas Longhouse Meadery! Honestly, I didn't even know what "mead" was until the day we went! The alcoholic beverage is made from honey, yeast, and water! Basically honey wine! The Meadery had traditional mead, as well as fun and contemporary variations of the traditional mead. Everything we tried was fantastic. My favorite was "Baldur", which was a mango mead. I like sweeter drinks, so this one felt a light and refreshing to me! The owners were there, and they were so friendly! The place isn't big, but plenty of seating for groups of 4 or less.

I learned a new word and became a little smarter today, all while drinking! I learned what Mead is, and also a Meadery! I will put the equation together that will equal the Texas Longhouse Meadery! Essentially, Mead is Honey Wine. It is made by fermenting honey and water, and often mixing in some fruits or grains, or even hops. Unbeknownst to me, it is actually one of, if not the oldest known methods of making alcoholic beverages. Now, let's talk about Longhouses. Longhouses have a history in Nordic and Native American cultures. Essentially they are for communal functions or gatherings. Now let's add it up, the Texas Longhouse Meadery is a community mead gathering place. It is also where a brewmaster proudly serves his artistic creations to the community. While I liked everything I tried here, my favorites were the ones with hints of fruit in them, like pineapple or mango habanero. They have flights so you can taste a few in one serving. You will find great service here and people who are happy to help you pick the ones that are right for you. Check them out!

What a gem!!! The meed is unbelievable, the staff and patrons were equally great. We stumbled across this Longhouse and will definitely be back soon. You can easily tell that everything they do is intentional with the customer in mind. The variety of drinks is great for all tastes. Not to mention that nitro water on tap!

I am not an expert in mead by any means, but my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we had in our flights.

We have hear about Jimmy's for years and finally made it in to try. The store itself is great…read morewith huge variety of specialties at honestly good prices. But we are here for a sandwich! You Make your way to the counter where the gentleman takes your order and gives you a number. We went with the Prosciutto and Hot Italian Sausage. The Prosciutto sandwich was super tasty with fresh ingredients and top tier bread. The Hot Italian Sausage was over to top and delicious. Great sausage and amazing bread with just the right amount of spice overall. The sauce they use could be a meal by itself. Super great sandwich! The whole experience was fun and we would definitely come back. Highly Reccommended!

This place is awesome. Opened back in 1966, it's been a Dallas staple for decades, and you can feel…read morethat history the second you walk in. It truly feels like you've stepped into a legit Italian market. It's packed--in a good way--but be prepared to rub elbows while you shop. If you don't have social anxiety, it's all part of the experience. We met another couple there for sandwiches, and they absolutely delivered. I had the Italian beef, which was delicious--but definitely spicy. I even asked for light peppers and it still brought some heat. So fair warning: if you're sensitive to spice, you might want to pivot to something else. My wife has been missing New Orleans, so she went with the muffaletta. Let's just say it was a much cheaper solution than flying her to the Big Easy. No gumbo on the menu, but the sandwich hit the spot. After we ate, we did a little shopping and grabbed some fresh Italian ingredients imported straight from Italy--which is always a win in my book. Great food, great vibe, and a true Dallas institution. We'll definitely be back.
