Maegan was extremely rude when I came in for a color adjustment. While I was promised free…read moreadjustments in the event the color did not match (it didn't even though I provided the exact formula), she informed me that the original mixer did not follow the formula of semi-gloss and instead gave me a satin in a lighter shade (I was uninformed that they would be mixing it with a different base). She refused to fill it with the correct paint and instead tried to get me to buy another quart. After a bit of back and forth, she offered $10 off the new quart, but it wasn't about the money for me. It was the principal of standing by your match guarantee and taking care of a customer. She then tried to tell me I only paid $11, while my bank record showed nearly $40. She refused to look at my screen receipt when I showed her. While I like working with Sherwin-Williams under normal circumstances, this interaction made me never want to return. It's ridiculous to not make an exception to your "non refundable color" rule if it was mixed improperly and if the associate did not inform me that samples only come in satin, so the color would not have matched the formula I provided no matter what. Seems like they just want a quick buck.

I especially like how you can bring an object into a SW store and they can scan it to match your paint color. They also keep your purchasing profile, so if you need more of something, they can match your needs easily. There is a tiny parking lot here, which makes it difficult for large trucks and SUVs (the preferred vehicle choices of most paint contractors and UP residents, respectively). This statement is demonstrated in the story at the end of my review. Typically the service is friendlier at a SW than the DIY megastores, although the help at this location seemed disinterested in their jobs and life in general. No smile. Just a "Ma'am, is there something you need help with?" after I walked directly to what I needed and simply looked at the pricing and sizing labels on the drop cloths. I had a hard time discerning whether it was condescension or lack of enthusiasm that was in his tone of voice, but the men who normally work in hardware stores and car dealerships have given me enough experience to know I should probably just ignore it by now. As she waits, a shiny black Escalade stops and waits to get into the already-narrrow parking drive that is now also blocked by the white F-350. Cars continue coming in other lanes. Escalade honks at Cara and then pulls just far enough in to block her entire view of oncoming traffic.] Cara: (windows still rolled up, one arm flailing) WHERE THE F**** DO YOU WANT ME TO GO IF I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING? Escalade D-Bag: (60-something, slicked-back, dyed-hair, mirrored glasses) stops in middle of drive and gives "the look" to Cara. Cara: (rolls down window while yelling) I CAN'T GO ANYWHERE WHEN YOU'RE BLOCKING THE DRIVEWAY AND THERE ARE OTHER CARS COMING!! Escalade D-Bag: (window now down also) I BLOCKED THIS ENTIRE LANE OF TRAFFIC FOR YOU -- WHAT'S SO HARD ABOUT THAT?!? Cara: I DON'T KNOW -- WHAT'S SO HARD ABOUT BEING A POLITE DRIVER?!?! [Traffic clears with perfect timing and Cara proceeds to turn right so she can go home. Vows never to visit this Sherwin-Williams store again, nor ever move to University Park.] Fín!
