so obnoxiously loud in here! first of all we were driving around the parking lot trying to find a spot to park we took over 20 minutes alone to find a spot and when we finally found one, the inside is overwhelming with people screaming and servers running around which i understand so i hoped the food was worth it but wow was i wrong. The food took over an hour alone , the cheese fries were good but when my main meal arrived 20 minutes after my appetizer the steak was dry and chewy i asked for medium rare and received an overcooked dry piece of meat. i sent it back and my boyfriend was waiting for me to get my food after his arrived and his meal was getting cold from waiting for my meal to arrive which i eventually told him to just eat since it was taking super long to get my steak. he had already finished and they finally bring my steak once again to be dry and not the right temperature. terrible environment. read more

The best part of Texas Roadhouse is their unlimited delicious buttery fluffy bread rolls. They are so, so good! Honestly, that's the main reason I go to Roadhouse. It's definitely a fun place to eat at on the weekend/dinner with a group of friends, especially in Harlingen with a lack of choices. However, it can get crowded very fast. They have a pretty quick turn around, but you'll usually have to wait at least 5 minutes to get a table during primetime. The other con that I've found with Roadhouse is that it can get very loud and rowdy, which makes it difficult to have conversations with your tablemates. As for the food, it's pretty good. I think their steak is well-seasoned, but it isn't the greatest of quality. I ordered my steak at a medium rare and it was a bit too medium in my opinion, making it difficult to chew. They also offer a wide variety of drinks to pick from. I ordered a margarita; it comes out looking very impressive, but it isn't very heavy with alcohol (probably a good thing tbh, but a bit pricey). Overall, I like Roadhouse. But I find their food to be very heavy, and it leaves me feeling like I just made some poor life choices. read more

After eating at this restaurant I can say I'm not very impressed. I ordered the "Chicken CRISPers!" therefore I was expecting crispy chicken tenders. Much to my disappointment this was not the case. They were crisped on the outside but the chicken inside was very slimy and rubbery. I had requested Buffalo.dipping sauce along with the tenders and what I was greeted with was a small bowl of orange oil. After stirring it vigorously it still remained very oily. The taste was not what I was expecting either. I did enjoy my side Cesar salad and who doesn't enjoy the rolls with cinnamon butter. This review could've been avoided but the manager did not feel the need to at least offer compensation for the poor service we had tonight. The managers only attempt to console us was that he would have a talk with the fairly new waiter. Now, from a person who used to work in the food industry, this would be a good start. But to separate your business from all others, the least you could do was offer some sort of compensation for our trouble. It could've been something as simple as a free appetizer, dessert, percentage off the bill etc. However, you failed to make that attempt. Which as a customer makes me belief that I am invalid, my complaint is invalid and you don't care about me as a customer. For us to have piss poor service on a Tuesday night, boggles my mind. I could understand if this was Friday or Saturday night and all the waitstaff was in the "weeds", but it wasn't. Bad service. Painfully slow. Not only are there a lot of servers standing around doing nothing but they fail to come to your table to ask you for your drinks and welcome you. Even a manager walked by and asked the next table how things were going but she ignored us. We walked out because we had other servers pass by us and ignore us. We have been to Harlingen Texas Roadhouse several times and NEVER enjoy it! I guess we expect this location to get better over time but it never does. To be fair we love Texas Roadhouse but not the Harlingen Location. To start with I ordered a Michilada and I'm not sure if the Bartender is new but a Michilada is not just clamato and beer, when I told the waitress she said thats how they make them here. I told her I didn't want it and she took it back but wasn't happy about it whispering with the bartender and pointing at our table. When we got our meal everything was ok, my Medium Rare steak was Medium but I didn't complain and the green beans tasted like a pound of salt was dumped in them. We had to flag our waitress down every time because she was busy line dancing and having fun with her fellow servers...also when I took my three year old to the restroom she was in there talking on her phone which explained why we had such a hard time finding her. Overall the food was not terrible and we were not in any hurry so it was a pleasant enough night...UNTIL we got up to leave. The busers immediately came to start cleaning the table OK thats good right? When we get to the door my sister realized that she left her iphone on the table and rushed back to get it. Of course the table had been cleaned so she saw the buser near by as asked him if he found it. He said no to check with the hostess station, no phone there. She is frantically looking in her purse on the floor everywhere. The Manager then steps in and she tell him it had to be the busser. Of course he defends his employee so she asks to use the restaurant land line to call it. Surprise surprise its ringing from inside the bus tub being carried by the busser that said he never saw it. He NEVER saw the iphone in a bright lime green case?? Yeah right! Long story short she got her phone back soaking wet and the kid supposedly got fired but Texas Roadhouse would not assume responsibility for their employees theft. Fortunately the damage was repairable and it only cost about $100 to fix but my sister had to pay for it. We will never go back to Texas Roadhouse. read more

The food is good. They lack communication skills. I called ahead to secure my spot for a TABLE not a booth. When I arived they said 15 minutes. The called my name rather quick and took us to a booth! I told them no booth because I had my elderly in laws with me. They told me I would have to be put back on the waiting list and that it would take 45 minutes. I don't like leaving bad reviews but sometimes it's needed when you get bad food and service. We called to place a takeout order this evening. BIG MISTAKE! Why did we order takeout? Because this place is really loud. My husband ordered a chicken fried steak and it was tough, he ate just a few pieces and then just ate his potatoes. To be honest the chicken fried steak didn't even look like it usually does, it was much darker, thinner and looked kind of old like it had been sitting. In the past it was always lighter in color and had some nice crispy on it. I ordered a Caesar salad for my dinner and they didn't give me any dressing. And the rolls weren't soft like usual, they were also dry and a little tough. We did call and tell the manager about the absence of dressing leaving me with just dry lettuce as soon as we opened the container, she said we could come back for a refund but it would take 3 or 4 weeks, at this point I just hung up the phone (WE PAID CASH) Why is a refund of cash so difficult? The salad, my dinner went in the trash and I had nothing to eat. I won't even bother driving back there for the $4.00 refund (cost of the salad) which I'm sure they are counting on with that time frame. As seniors on a strict budget we don't have money to throw away so I'm being 100% honest when I say that nothing we paid for (except my husband's mashed potatoes) was any good this evening. I didn't call back and share with the manager how bad my husbands meal was, I figured....what's the point! It just upsets me that we can only afford to eat out about once a month and it was for a meal we didn't get to eat. BTW, We aren't Winter Texan's, we are Texan's originally from SA. Saw a sign outside to call and make a reservation to save time, but we were already there, had to wait 20 minutes. The 6 oz sirloin was good for what it was, my only complaint was that it was overcooked for medium well, but it was still good. Don't make the mistake I did--shoveling in the complimentary bread rolls. They were hot and mealy, but my eyes were bigger than my stomach. By the time my smothered chicken with cream gravy (exquisite) rolled around, I barely had any room left--but I saw this challenge as an opportunity and made it work.
