My friends and I rented an RV from this business back in October. The whole process of getting the RV was straightforward. The RV itself was fine as well. The main issue with them is customer service. We signed a contract with a $500 damage deposit. Its been two months and through several calls/texts/emails, there has been no response about the deposit. This to me is absolutely shady. They pretty much just kept the money and disappeared off the face of the Earth with no explanation. I would be weary renting from this place as they might try to scam you like they have done with us so far. We will definitely never be back. read more

Put a deposit down on February for a June rental. After I inquired (no longer seeing my rental unit on the site) I was told the owner pulled unit from fleet. Ummm this is biz101! You don't have a contract to protect against this? Just a simple clause in contract... Owner can not pull unit from fleet while there are pending reservations. Simple stuff. No other options because I discovered this 28 days prior to our trip and everything was rented unless I wanted to do a serious downgrade. Owner (Kelly) says "it's not my fault I can't control what an owner does" Ummm yes you can!!!! It's called a contract! I rented an RV in June and despite returning the RV in BETTER condition than when I picked it up, I still have not received my $500 cash deposit. Kelly and Candice have both ASSURED me over, and over, and over again that I would get it back. It has now been 6 months and there has been NO effort on their part to get my money back to me. I have been told three different stories as to why they can't return the money that they took from me. I am not sure what to believe, other than I am a fool for believing them and taking them at their word. I would not rent from them unless you are willing to kiss your $500 deposit goodbye. OH and if you do rent from them, double check how much he charges in the initial pickup. When I got home I noticed he had charged me $100 more than he was supposed to. Once I contacted him, he did refund the money... but seems very suspicious given that they are obviously stealing from their customers. (not refunding deposits) read more

Paperwork and owners are easy to work with. They will work around your schedule which is a plus. We have rented several times but had minor problems with each travel trailer. The first trailer lacked maintenance. The second leaked all weekend. The last trip took over a day out of our vacation fixing a problem with a busted hose and leaky faucet. It took nearly two months to get our deposit back on the last trip. We never received a discount for our troubles. There were no issues on our end. We will be looking for a new company. read more

Have rented three times from Texas RV Rental for a BBQ/Blues festival. Service has been excellent each time and deposit refund very prompt. Last year they went above and beyond. I reserved a unit from Texas Owners RV after calling other dealers and individual owners. One of these other owners ( i mistakenly thought) called to set up a rental. I told him I didn't it any more. OOPs! The call actually came from Texas RV Owners. Fast forward to the first day of the Festival(Labor day weekend) I called from the festival site to finalize the RV rental They of course had cancelled the reservation based on the prior conversation. All of their units were already rented. They scrambled to locate another unit from other dealerships and owners. None available due to the Holiday weekend. I have guests coming all weekend for beer food and music as well a BBQ competition with no place to sleep, no bathroom and no AC in 101 degree weather. They called that evening having found a replacement and had it promptly delivered. That's customer service. read more

Rented a travel trailer from TX RV Owners Rental for a week-long vacation in Colorado in July 2015. For a $1200+ rental fee, I had a clean, new, small-ish (19') towable travel trailer for nine days. It was exactly what it was presented to be. The owners were very helpful with orientation and the pick up experience. The reason for my negative review is what happened when I returned the unit back. They make you buy renters insurance, which is cheap at around $6/day in addition to the rental fee, and put down a $500 deposit in addition to the rental fee. When you return the unit, you're not allowed to switch out propane tanks with a Blue Rhino. You have to disconnect the tank and lug it to a refill location, such as Uhaul, which I knew about beforehand. So after paying $1200+ to rent a travel trailer, and driving 2500 miles on a road trip, you have to go make an hour long side trip to deal with Uhaul or some such place to pay $5 to top off a propane tank. You'd think they would just keep a supply of Blue Rhinos on the ready to switch out between renters. Secondly, with that $500 deposit, they hang on to it for 3 weeks before releasing it (which I knew about beforehand), but then they deduct fees from it without sending an explanation beforehand. On return, it was clean inside and out because I scrubbed the ____ out of the unit, inside and out, and had done a dump of the tanks before leaving our last spot. Yet, when I got my deposit returned, I only got $430 dollars. When I asked, it took them a day to say they had charged me a $50 "dump fee" and $20 "cleaning fee." The propane policy and deposit debiting policy is what earns this review. Here's a suggestion - how about you raise your rates $50 (or whatever) and tell your customers not to worry about anything at all and you take care of the propane refill, cleaning and dumping, if you think the jobs they do aren't good enough? read more

We rented Wanda over the rainy weekend of 10-22 through 10-25. When I picked the trailer up, as we were doing the walk through, I asked if the trailer was weather tight and mentioned the importance of this given the weather forecast. I was assured that it was sealed up and tested thoroughly during the remodel. We brought it home on Thursday, packed it up and put our linens, pillows, etc. on the bed and left Friday for the campsite. Upon arrival at the campsite we discovered that the bed (mattress, pillows and linens) were completely soaked. Still trusting that the window was sealed and tested watertight, I speculated that the water may have enter the coach through the front panel that Kelly mentioned was still on the "to-do" list. After an exchange of texts, Kelly said he would reimburse me for purchasing a fan to dry off the bed. I drove to the nearest town to shop for a fan while my wife used the laundry facilities at the campground to dry off our linens. We made the bed and left for dinner. Upon our return we found the bed soaked again. My wife was very upset at this time. I found the leak to be coming in through the top of the window and dripping water right on the pillows. More texts and I was told I could pick up a replacement camper the next morning. This would have meant that I would sleep in a wet bed with rain dripping in and then spend most of the next day packing up, driving, setting up, unpacking...not interested. One of my buddies suggested that we could use gorilla tape to stop the leak since it would stick to wet surfaces. Another trip to town to get tape and it worked to stop the leak enough for us to sleep in the bed. Meanwhile, the skylight/vent in the bathroom is leaking as well. I put a cup to catch the water in there since I could not get on the roof. The next morning, I spoke to Kelly on the phone at which point he was very apologetic and offered to bring out a replacement some time that day. Since we had activities planned and had stopped the leak enough to use the bed, we decided to save Kelly the time and effort of bringing another unit out for the remaining one night. It was at this point that he said on the phone that the rental would be fully comp'ed. Reasonable, given that we discussed the importance of the unit being watertight when I picked it up and his assurance that it was tested as being so. I dropped the unit off on Sunday. It was cleaned, tanks were dumped, and it was ready to go besides the propane that was used. Also, there were some glasses that fell over and broke in the cabinets. And though I didn't think of it at the time, I had some tolls that I was also willing to pay. All of which I was expecting to be deducted from the deposit. Then the deposit refund check gets sent to the wrong address... When I do get the check, it covers the deposit plus one night refund. This is caught me a bit surprised. I get a leaky camper which ruined our weekend beyond the poor weather we already were facing. I will not be renting from TXRVOR again. read more

They are quick and great at helping you get into an RV and taking your money... but as far as contacting you to give your deposit back or letting you know what's going on with it is another story....They do not return any phone calls or emails it has been over the 21 days... and we even tried contacting them prior to get a detailed listing/bill of what was used and nothing. And we are not the only ones with this problem... this is completely ridiculous and unprofessional... if you want a good word of mouth or people to come back to you... it seems like you would want to make the WHOLE ENTIRE process a great one... but nope! read more

I recently just rented a RV for four nights thru Texas RV Owners Rental and my experience was fantastic! First the rental process thru them was quick and easy and they were real helpful in getting me set up quickly as I needed something within a day. Then once I was put in contact with the owners of the actual unit that same day, everything went as smooth as anyone could hope for. I rented "Honey" from the Rainford family and everything was ready to go when I arrived to pick up the next day. The owners were very very friendly, easy to get ahold of by email, text and phone, and provided everything you could need with the trailer. Even after I had picked up and got to our event later that evening, I received a phone call to from them just checking in on things and make sure I didn't have any questions. When I made the return, once again everything went smoothly and they were real easy to get ahold of and to schedule the return. Updated Review: we had a decent experience. Pick up & paperwork process was easy. We rented Betsy and she was perfect for the group of 5 that we had! Very roomy. She was clean and came with all the linens. She also had a fully charged generator. There was a slight misunderstanding with the deposit refund but it was resolved quickly once brought to the owner (Kelly's) attention. I would be sure to stay on top of the deposit refund, otherwise it was a good experience. read more

We rented Daisy for our first Camping / RV experience. We had an absolutely great time despite the rain early in our trip. Texas RV Owners Rental (Kelly), Daisy and their owners (Leah and Todd) were absolutely amazing. The delivery walk around with Leah prior to departure was just what I needed to remove the unknowns that had me stressed, she showed me exactly what I needed to know! I just filed a complaint to the BBB against them. Please DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! My husband and I rented an RV for the first time ever in July 2017 it's been over 7 months and i still have not received my $500 deposit. I also contacted Kelly several times and there was always an excuse, here are some of his excuses...he said the check was in the mail, he was moving and hasn't unpacked boxes, he was out of town, he has financial difficulties and so on, every excuse possible. I emailed him and told him i was going to pursue legal action for breach of contract, I have yet to file, but will do so soon. I'm curious has anyone received their deposit back from them? read more

We rented Laura and I rated 3 stars because my review must be split between 2 experiences. Texas RV, the rental company, was fine to deal with. They were pleasant and had a quick response time. However, the experience with the owners of the actual RV could have been better. Since I have much to say I will break this down into the small issues and then the one larger issue which is at the bottom if you'd prefer to skip to it. Small Issue - Lynn, the owner, met us to pick up the trailer. While showing us around I asked him where the linens were kept and he pointed to the cabinets under the TV. When we got to our destination we were unable to find the linens. We made arrangements with family members to borrow bed sheets for the night and then asked our children, who were meeting us the next night, to bring some from home. To keep from being charged for linens we sent Lynn a text letting him know that the linens were not in the trailer. He did respond quickly and told us they were in a compartment that was located under the mattress. I wished he'd been clearer. There was a lot of time and energy wasted on just trying to make a bed. Small Issue - we could not get the oven to work so you may want to make sure this is explained to you if you will need it. My father-n-law owns his trailer and he couldn't get it to work either. Small Issue - Lynn forgot to stock the trailer with toilet paper. I did bring my own so we were covered (yes, I purchased toilet paper for septic tanks). BIGGER ISSUE THAT COST US MONEY- At the end of our trip we dumped the tanks, washed the linens and cleaned the trailer spotless. Lynn met us to return the trailer but did not do a walk through with us. He said that he was in a hurry and did not have time and that he would come back later to go inside and check things out. My husband made a comment that he thought that was odd. A few days later we received an email from Lynn's wife, Colette. Her email said that they would be deducting $100 from our security deposit because the water tanks were full and that there was a clog. I explained to Colette that the tanks showed to be 3/4 full when we hooked the water up before they were ever used so there could be a problem. I also told her that we dumped the tanks before we left and there was no clog. I asked her to send a copy of the bill to me 3 times but she would only send pictures and rudely said that pictures should be proof enough for me. The pictures, in my opinion, could have been for any clogged drain, as they owned more than one. Our trailer was retuned at the same time as another one so I even wondered if maybe she mixed them up.? My husband immediately said he suspected that they would charge us for something when Lynn refused to walk through the trailer with us upon return. Bottom line, we will not be renting another trailer from them. And I'd like to say that the small issues would have never been mentioned had it not been for the bigger issue. One last note is that we've never had issues with rentals before. We're responsible people. My husband is an operations manager over a fleet of diesel trucks and is very aware of how things operate. Good luck if you rent from them. Maybe you will have a better experience. read more

The whole process with this company was a disaster aside from the initial conversation when ordering the RV. Kelly was very helpful and informative at that point. When it was time to make a reservation for when we would be picking the trailer up, we took advantage of an option offered by the company- which was picking up the trailer on the night before our travel date. We rented the trailer from a Friday through a Monday. He told us we could pick up on Thursday night at no extra charge- great, right?! We had email confirmation with him that we would pick up Thursday night at 6pm. Well, we had to take off work early so we could get across the metroplex where the RV was stored- took us about an hour and a half and probably $30 in tolls. We wait outside for about half an hour and try to contact anybody at the company- call, text, email... Finally he texts us back and said they wrote it down wrong- he had us down for Friday night at 6pm. Well that just puts a wrench in any plans we had for Friday! He offered to move our reservation time earlier in the day on Friday at 12 or 1pm. And said that was the best he could do and he would give us a discount. So we just grin and bear it- plans for the day are ruined but at least we will get some money back. Then we start double checking the listing since there was this miscommunication- we tried to avoid more- the listing said it had a generator, I asked and he said oh actually no it doesn't. The listing said all hook ups will be provided- my husband had to go buy the correct hookup when Kelly was there on Friday, putting him further behind schedule. Then he said our discount would be only $50 off. Well we paid more than that in tolls! We paid close to $1000 when we picked up the trailer- and all he would offer was $50 off because picking it up a night early is a luxury or convenience- well don't offer that luxury if you don't uphold it. Bc nothing about that fiasco was convenient. We could have just booked the earlier reservation on Friday and not had to cancel our plans for that day. Then getting the deposit back was an ordeal in itself. Our trip was the first weekend of November and we got our check back the week of Christmas- over a month and a half! Plans to use that money on Christmas gifts went down the crapper. He told my husband when he picked up the trailer that he would tell us the amount to expect back within 3-5 days of us returning the trailer and it could take 21 days to get it back. He did not ever tell us what to expect to get back- even after asking through email more than a couple times. When he finally did return our emails of us asking where the check is- he was we should have received it. So we asked for the tracking number- said they didn't have one but it showed it was delivered on the 23rd- I didn't know you could see when something is delivered if you didn't have a tracking number? My advice- If sending checks in the mail- use certified mail and give the tracking number to the customer!! So they won't be wondering where it is for nearly two months. Finally we got the check after having to threaten to get our lawyer involved. Over 45 days since returning the trailer. It was a stressful situation that I'm glad is over. We will not be renting here again. They seem like nice people so if you decide to rent then maybe just don't do so during a busy weekend so they can focus only on you. read more

Do not rent a Travel Trailer from this company! We reserved one and they Kelly called with bad news that it was in the shop...... but of course there was a larger, very nice one available. After driving 1 hour and 25 min to find out it was way too large for our vehicle and we didn't feel comfortable towing it. We have never rented a travel trailer before and felt that it was the right thing to do to not risk an accident to ruin our truck or their trailer. Well Candice, who was very curt, is not refunding our reservation fee.... there was no contract signed. Horrible company, bad business - Don't use them..... Business is business. We picked the trailer up on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 and returned it on July 4th 2012. We were provided with an in depth tutorial on the features of the trailer when we arrived to pick the trailer up. I discovered Texas RV Owners Rental while researching overnight accommodation options for a family reunion in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The celebration was at my brother-in-laws house but there was limited room for sleeping. I rented a Dutchmen travel trailer and was it ever a HIT with my family. There was plenty of room for the 6 in my group to sleep plus more, the tv/dvd entertained the kids while the adults visited, and the A/C kept the whole trailer cold (which isn't easy to do in Texas / Oklahoma in July)! Even after the rental charge and round-trip fuel in my truck it was still less expensive than my other option of staying at a certain casino hotel very close to Thackerville, Oklahoma. Candice and Kelly are so easy to talk with and are extremely helpful in all aspects for a newbie like I was. I will definitely use their company again! read more
