Tumble Weed appetizers were terrific. Mac & Cheese was very cold, as if it had been unevenly microwaved. Sweet Tater Casserole was good. Server was very attentive and friendly. The salad bar was great, good selection of fresh veggies and toppings. Everything else needs work. Slow service, it seemed like the waitress may have had to have been waiting all the tables and going back to the kitchen to cook while there were 3-4 people sitting in the office when we left. Steaks came out overdone - I ordered rare and got well done or medium well at best. Okra oversalted, my family's potato came out overflowing (swimming) in butter and sour cream. Went here for lunch and enjoyed it. The place has a good vibe to it and makes for a nice lunch. They have a good assortment on the menu including steaks, burgers, BBQ, etc. there is a larger room off to the side where we sat due to the size of our party. Our server was amazing and really did a nice job taking care of us. The tea is good which is always a plus. We had some cheese curds and cowboy balls to start. The curds were delicious and the cowboy balls were filling. They have steak, chicken, shrimp and cheese and wrapped in bacon. I had the smoked chicken sandwich on Texas toast. The chicken had good flavor but I wish it was warmer. I also had to ask for some sauce which was sweet for my liking but good nonetheless. I will say that the okra was over salted but had good flavor otherwise. Everyone liked their food and it was an overall good experience. The location seems to be a local hotspot. read more

We were camping nearby so we got our food to go. I'm not a fan of the interior wall to wall wood look but that seems to be what they were going for. From what I could tell from waiting on my food that it is a very family friendly place. From the outside there are no window so it appears to be a strip joint, but that's not the case. Food was killer though: okra was crispy and salty perfect, homemade fries was good, pulled pork was fire, Mac and cheese was good, brisket had great flavoring and smoke ring but wasn't quite tender as I like and it was served cold. Service was excellent and the staff are all very nice. Prices are high for what you get. Paid $40 for a 16oz ribeye, asked for it to be cooked med. rare. When I got the steak it was about 1/8" thick, no marbling in this ribeye at all. It was cooked to almost well done. This was a steak you would expect to find at Dennys for $19.99. This was not, by any means, a $40 steak. All you could taste was the seasoning they put on it, no steak flavor whatsoever. My wife's filet mignon was overcooked and again on the small side for what we expected. After they added on gratuity, we did have a party of 6 so that was understood, our bill was almost $120. For $120 I expected a WAY better steal than what I received. read more

I have lived here for 25 years before I moved. I came back to visit and decided to try this place. The food was A grade. The quality of the meat amazed me. Then when I questioned about the beef, I was told in great detail about it by the owner, where it came from and why they chose it. This town has needed this quality of food for way too long. Service was excellent! The family atmosphere was comforting without a bar being attached to it. Yet, you could still get a beer or a glass of wine. I hope the city supports this business. read more

We got take-out from Texas Smoking Guns and thought the food was excellent. I had sliced beef brisket and chopped pork bbq, a side salad, fried okra, and onion rings. My wife had grilled shrimp, a side salad, corn casserole, and onion rings. The salads we made ourselves at the salad bar, which was fresh and had a lot of options. We had a great experience tonight. All of our steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection. The sides were just as good especially the Brussel sprouts and sweet potato casserole. Cute western themed restaurant. Our server was sweet and caring. The food choices we selected were disappointing. Ordered smoked half chicken and onion rings. I wasn't sure the chicken was cooked completed and struggled to eat it. It was wet and greasy somewhat bloody and rubbery. The onion rings were just onions with the coating falling off. My husband struggled with the ribs (didn't come off the bone) and he was disappointed with the baked beans ( tiny cup filled halfway). No sauce was offered for the ribs. Service was bad. Our party arrived and sat down and got drinks. We order our food and another party walks in and sits next to us. They soon order their food and all. Well they get their food first, but they got the same dish one of our party members had. So I knew something couldnt be right. Well they eat and leave and we then get our food. Meat was very cold. Fries were even colder. Took enough time for a while table of probably 8 people to order and eat before we got our food. Absolutely horrible service. read more
