This was a family visit. Parking was good. We were seated as soon as we walked in at 4:00 pm on a Friday. The ambiance is not given to memorable celebrations. The lighting is poor. We were seated next to a storage area that was awkward to maneuver. So, low on atmosphere. The service was five star. Our server was attentive, personable and efficient. No complaints here! They moved the restaurant two years ago. They didn't move it far. Just across the street. It is now on the SOUTHWEST corner I will try to get the address updated on Yelp. We noticed the place due to the overwhelming attendance by the locals. I mean the parking lot was full when we drove by. Upon getting settled in at Dothan we drove the 10 mins back north on 231. In I the dark, it was hard to figure out how to get to the restaurant. Some well placed solar lighting would have been nice. They had a nice salad bar. Servers would construct the salad to your specifications. If you wanted something that they didn't think should be in the same bowl with your salad. They would put it in a separate bowl. You could go back as many times as you wished. I kind of liked the cleanliness of their method. The salad bar was not a premium side. You were allowed two sides and a salad bar counted as one. My other side was the baked sweet potato. I made the mistake of letting my wife have a bite. I never got it back. I got the ribeye steak. Medium. It was cooked to perfection and was tasty and juicy. Is was one of a few times I have eaten a steak without steak sauce. My dear wife had the filet. Hers was more tender but both thought the ribeye won on the char flavor They have a resident baker. She makes about a dozen flavors of cakes and dessert consists of whatever cakes were made and are fresh. She said Peanut butter sold the most but when I asked her what her favorite was, she said, "All of them." She might have missed a career in politics. Let's start with the good of the restaurant. We were seated immediately and the service itself was really good. The salad bar and sides were great. Now to get to the bad. I've had many steaks from many different restaurants over the years, and this is the first time I and my wife have ever said a medium rare ribeye was dry. It was clearly the right color inside but seemed like a I was eating a medium well sirloin. At $32 menu price for a 14oz with 2 sides I think I'd rather make the trip to Dothan next time I want a steak instead. The restaurant is nice and clean, simple on the inside but taken care of by owner and staff. If the steak was better quality the restaurant is located in a great spot for Ozark residents to frequent. read more

This is an old converted gas station on the side of the highway made into a diner, in an area without a lot of other nearby food options for lunch. Our server today, "Hope," was extremely nice and hospitable. In fact, everyone we encountered was very friendly and appreciative of our patronage. The food was fine. Our steak burgers were a bit dry. (Well done -which we didn't request). The string beans were tangy, garlicky and quite good! The bake potato was surprisingly good as well. Not overcooked. (Potatoes are usually hit-or-miss in most restaurants.) I found the meals to be a little on the expensive side, but that may just be because of food and meat prices going up so quickly during the current covid pandemic. The menu was also limited, due to pandemic related food shortages. The salad bar was closed (again due to the pandemic), but our servers offered to build our salad to order. I have a lot to say about this restaurant. The server was pleasant and afishent. The reason this home store restaurant has good reviews is their is nothing to compare to for miles. The food is bland at best to expensive for what you get Choice quality meat shrimp scampi when I asked where was the wine in it the owner said he can't use to much no flavor of garlic but there was tomato s and water. The salads bar had bag head lettuce and open up the cans. Not everyone can run a restaurant. A much better meal at Texas Road House for half the price. This is A place to skip for sure. read more

If I'm paying almost 100$ you could at least serve REAL fruit instead of canned fruit crap. There was Soooooooo much FAT on the prime rib that it was half the weight of the steak. This is just the old time steak house no frills, fancy drinks, or gimmicks. The steak was cooked perfect. Came out fast and friendly server. Did not have to wait for drink refill. Salad bar and potato bar strange that someone serves you but I guess it is a covid thing???? Well, based on rave reviews and several recommendations from friends and Family, we have been dying to eat here @ D&D's. Finally took Kaylee and Susan there last night...! WHAT A BUST...! What a huge disappointment...! I ordered the Biggest Ribeye, 16 oz, $26 dollar one. Ordered it Medium Rare! IT WAS THE RAREST STEAK I HAVE EVER SEEN... It was Seared on each side and Blood Rare through 95 % of thickness. It took me 15 minutes to get waitress's attention as they seemed to be too busy cleaning and shutting things down, and others behind the bar jaw-jacking were no help... It was only 8:40, they close at 9:00..! I kept waving and finally she came out of the back and saw me waving her over... NO ONE ELSE PAID A BIT OF ATTENTION... I SHOWED HER AND SHE WAS ALARMED AND EMBARRASSED BECAUSE SHE SAW HOW BLOOD RED IT WAS...! She sent it back to the Grill Master... I told the young lady to tell them to please be sure to not over cook it...! IT CAME BACK WELL DONE...! I could not eat it... I cut it into small pieces and she asked how it was, "I told her that it was well done, HAD TOO MUCH GRISTLE TO CUT AROUND, and I was needing a box to take it to my dogs... Susan's Grilled. Shrimp was plain Raw... might as well ordered SUSHI! She could not eat it, nor could I... NOR WOULD MY DOGS EAT IT... they love shrimp too...! And once you serve the main course, do not abandon the table because you are cleaning to go home... we had 20 minutes left to eat, there were at least 10 plus tables of patrons, not near ready to leave... We did not eat it... was just something I would never order again... and Kaylee had the brownie which was too dry she did not eat it so we end up tossing both...!!! This is the best Steak House I've had hands down. I've been in the Panhandle of Florida since October and haven't had anything that compares. I've now been to D&D twice in the last week, with plans to go back again very soon. The ribeye is excellent, dry aged and cut fresh when ordered. Ahhhhmazingggg first dine in experience! Both me and my husband had the Ribeye cooked medium well and it was cooked perfectly, my sides were delicious too!
