I recommend highly this dedicated, professional, informative and cheerful group of individuals, starting with Hayden, the happy person who set my journey on a joyful course. He provided extensive information while answering every question. Dr. John Odette and the supportive post-op optometrists were exceptional, along with the entire staff who provided a definite feeling of security and peace of mind. Post-op eye drops were sent home with me which saved a trip to the pharmacy, giving caregivers a break. Please don't hesitate to see for yourself just how perfect and pleasant Austin Eye is. And unless my memory is failing, his father (Dr. Mitchel Wong) treated my mother's cataracts in the 1980s. I have always been impressed by the state-of-the-art skills and equipment Austin Eye maintains. I'm also impressed that the Wongs have chosen to share their expertise by endowing an eye institute at the University of Texas at Austin. My most recent personal experience with Austin Eye was surgery for lens replacement. While some have derided the facility on Bee Caves Rd as factory-like, I would counter that with the fact that consistent good practices yield consistently good results. I felt well cared for throughout the process, and the results (my excellent recovery and visual acuity) speak for themselves. In the event there had been any problems, I was given Dr. Wong's direct cell number and email. The Austin Eye facility is beautiful, modern, and well-maintained. The same may be said of the older location along Jollyville Rd. I highly recommend Austin Eye for their expertise, state-of-the-art equipment set, and very positive and helpful office staff.

I was fortunate enough to see a great deal LasikPlus was offering in my Cigna dashboard, and things progressed very quickly from there! Had a free 15 min video consult, that led to an in person consult where everybody was so helpful and comforting. It was about 1.5-2hrs of eye exams before concluding with booking an appointment. I was not expecting to move this quickly, but the staff and online presence, made me feel comfortable...and excited. From there, Dr Brewer took about 5 minutes to successfully complete the procedure, and sent me home with plenty of recovery guidance and meds. Not only that, he called me a couple of days before to answer some questions I had over a 25 minute call! He made me feel comfortable right away, and throughout the process. My eyes felt better the next day, and now I'm a month in with constant improvements. Thank you all, highly recommended! Affordable, and top quality service.

This review is over due by two years…read more... I was recommended by Dr Brewer by a close friend that had gotten lasik with Dr Brewer in San Antonio office. I was so nervous about getting lasik but I am so glad I did because it's the best investment in my self I had ever done. Plus the lifetime warranty was what seal the deal. The fact that your vision may change again at a certain age and getting a lasik touch up is covered was reassuring it was money well spent. Honestly I wish I have gotten this procedure done over two decades and half ago because it would have saved me so much money on all the glasses I got each year. The total cost of lasik was less than the total value of glasses and eye care I spent. I wouldn't have struggle with embarrassing infamous foggy ‍ glasses when I am over heating or temp changes. Plus even with glasses I felt I could never really see clearly since I have astigmatism in both eyes. I was really surprised to hear through lasik I was able to get that corrected too. The whole process from beginning to end was easy and the best thing I ever decided to do. I can see the immediate results after the procedure is done. In my personal experience which my friend didn't seem to have the same experience....After the procedure when the numbing solution wears off and when you get home, your eyes burns like hell but follow the instructions given and go to bed right after and you will be fine. The next morning 20/20 vision. It's like magic ! It's unbelievable shocking how clearer I can see everything. The procedure was super fast like less than 5 mins total. I was shock how fast it went. Dr Brewer is the absolute best! Do I recommend Dr Ryan Brewer? 100000% recommend Dr Brewer! If you qualify for lasik, do it! Note before the procedure you will need to go get a consultation and screening to see if you qualify. For example, if you have super dry eyes then you will get declined. Luckily I thought I had dry eyes but it wasn't to the point where I didn't qualify. After the procedure for a few months I did see glares on vehicle windshields when wearing sunglasses but with consistently apply eye drops my eyes heal and I don't see that any more. I highly recommend Dr Ryan Brewer!

I was overdue for an eye doctor visit. I found Look + See by searching through my insurance and browsing the yelp reviews. This location is super convenient to me too. I scheduled my appointment online and filled out my paperwork in advance. The store is appointment only, so you ring the bell to enter. The showroom of glasses is a much bigger variety than I've seen other places. They have so many cool, unique, and artistic handmade frames. I loved browsing the glasses and sunglasses. These are one of a kind glasses you will not find anywhere else. The appointment was extremely thorough. I have never had virtual reality goggles on at an eye doctor! They definitely have the newest technology. I also had to pay for an image of my eyeball, which I was happy to do since I was interested. The doctor explained they can see things like high blood pressure based on the veins behind your eyeballs. My eyes were good to go! I got my updated prescription and paid for that eye photograph that wasn't covered by insurance. I decided to get my updated frames online so they'd be covered by my vision stipend toward frames since the ones in the store were all so much more. I would definitely get cool glasses here if I wore them all the time, but since they are mostly used when I am just by myself on the computer or driving, I decided to pass this time. Super easy and no added fees. Great customer service and friendly doctor. I plan on going back for my yearly check ups!

AVOID!!! I chose…read morethis eye doctor's office because it was conveniently located near my workplace. Unfortunately, what I expected to be a simple eye exam turned into a frustrating and unprofessional experience. When I booked my appointment, I specifically stated that I wanted **traditional pupil dilation**, not photo imaging. When I arrived for my 5pm appointment, I was told I had "signed up" for the $50 photo imaging instead -- which is **not covered by insurance**. I explained that I never agreed to this, but the staff told me that because I had a 5pm appointment, dilation would "run the doctor over schedule." That is not my responsibility, and it felt like pressure to accept an unnecessary upsell. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. The exam did not feel thorough, and I left feeling uncertain about the accuracy of my prescription. Sure enough, when I compared my results to last year's prescription, this year's exam claimed my vision had *improved* -- despite the fact that I came in specifically because my vision has felt worse. That raised major red flags about the quality of the exam. On top of this, the office aggressively pushed expensive add-ons -- from luxury frames costing thousands of dollars to lens upgrades -- which felt more like a sales floor than a medical practice. I later learned my coworker visited the same office the same day and had a similarly uncomfortable experience. We both work in the medical field, and we agreed this is not how patients should be treated. I called to speak with the manager afterward. No apology. No offer to re-check the exam. No attempt to resolve the situation. I've since spent over an hour on the phone with my insurance to arrange a second opinion elsewhere. If you're looking for patient-centered care and a thorough exam, I'd recommend going somewhere else.

One was in a Walmart and the other was in the Barton Creek mall. I read the reviews and both seemed good. I chose Barton Creek mall because it was closer to my area. Overall I had a great experience as you can tell from my high rating. The only negative was having to walk through Sears to get there. The front desk was very professional and friendly. Once seated, I spent just a few minutes waiting for my appointment. There were videos playing on flat screens about various eye stuff. It was a bit scary I have to say, but I can understand it's helpful. The two assistants that did the pre-workup were professional as well. They were very attentive to my comfort and tried to make me feel at ease by asking questions about football, my job, my school etc. I hadn't been to an optometrist for a few years and the equipment and techniques seem to have been updated. For one, they took a photo of my eye with a laser beam. It was a little uncomfortable putting my eye up against the device and it made my eye water, but it was quick and painless. The two assistants took me into a patient room and did the standard stuff. They asked me about my eye history, did a reading of my current prescription from my current glasses, asked about medications and explained what the doctor was going to do once he started. This whole process took about 10 minutes. Once the doctor came in, he went over my pre-work and did an eye exam. I felt like he was very professional and thorough. He answered all of my questions. I have seen a lot of doctors in my life, and I am pretty hard on them and usually ask a lot of questions. I could tell right away that I liked him. Unfortunately for me, I had gotten a bit older and my prescription required bi-focals. I had never used them before and the Dr. explained my two options with lenses. You can do a progressive bi-focal which has a transition between the two prescriptions, or you can do a standard bi-focal. The Dr. recommended the progressive and I agreed. I had my prescription filled and I immediately realized that I could not work with progressive bi-focals. I called the office back and scheduled a followup. The office and Dr. were very nice and thorough again and it was no additional charge. I decided to have two glasses made, one with my distance prescription and one with my reading prescription. The cost was about the same as the progressive prescription. I have been happy with this solution so far, although I have to carry around an extra pair of reading glasses with me. I guess that is the price of old age.

Both of the young employees enthusiastically recommended Dr. Soltys, although there are several other optometrists in the Barton Creek Mall. They were not just selling me, they really meant it. I like this office for several reasons. 1. Dr. Soltys is a really good optometrist. I've been to lots; I know 'em. The doc is excellent. Very professional. Very competent. 2. The office is open 7 days a week. There are other dr's there and I really like the idea that someone is always there in case of an emergency (retinal detachment, etc.) 3. They have state of the art equipment including a machine that takes picture of the back of your eye without need for dilation. It takes a cool digital picture that shows you what your cornea looks like for now and for future reference to show changes in your eye health. This is a great machine and I would never now go to an optometrist that did not have this technology. 3. Its in the Mall!! Easy parking and access. Good excuse to shop.
