Steak express is the McDonald's of high end delivery food. They cannot get the order right, and the time they take to fix the order is ridiculous. If you are paying $29 for a couple of sandwiches and baked potatoes, the least they could do is check the order before it is sent off. Dang good food for a very reasonable price for big steaks. If you pick up your order, you get a free, large tea with every meal you order. I am very picky about my tea and these guys know how to make it. Not too strong and not too weak. It really is just right. The steaks taste great and they have gotten my order right every time, cooked just the way I order it. Compared to the other steakhouses in town, I think these steaks are right up there with any of them. The steaks are big, well seasoned and cooked just the way you order them. You just can't beat that. Cheesecake is really good, as well. You get a nice, big slice of true New York style cheesecake with your choice of topping for $5. I think it is fabulous! read more

If you get the burger rare, its phenomenal, if not, its terrible. The steak if pretty damn good, even for a fast food place. Its Texas so sometimes when you call they get a little confused and have to go ask the chef if they are even allowed to prepare food rare (reason for 4 instead of 5 stars). 95% of the time its super fast delivery, and as previously said before, loads of coupons. read more

The fact that we can have a made to order steak delivered to our house with the fixings is a great idea. The steaks themselves are decent quality, nether the best nor the worst I've ever had. The temperature is occasionally correct, but I'm willing to overlook this due to the fact that the steak will continue to cook as it's wrapped in foil (as it should be) for delivery. If steak is not what you want, both the grilled chicken sandwich and the burgers are very good. The sides are average. One of these days, we will get the steak sauce we ask for every time and the heavens will spew forth an angelic chorus the likes of which our minds have never been able to comprehend. I am always so impressed by the quality of food with Steak Express. We go through their drive-thru usually once a week and take our two dogs, the employees even take the time to grab treats for them which I think is so sweet. Our order arrived 1hr 40 minutes after calling in the order for 2 NY strip meals. Our food arrived cold so my wife and I had to microwave it all. The NY strip steaks were low grade and had a bit of gristle. We ordered them Medium and they were sent to me medium well/well done. If i knew i was going to get this kind of meal i would have went to Texas Road House for the same price ($48) and ate better quality food. A girl answered the phone first. Seemed Almost inconvenienced by the fact that I was asking them to deliver on base. Then there was some static on the phone and she said "I can't hear you" and hung up. I was so mad I called back and she refused to take my order again because I didn't know the street address to the on base hotel...it's the only one and you guys deliver here all the time. You know where it is. Or take the 2 seconds to google it like I did -- she Just didn't wanna do it. I'd mentor her on being more progressive in helping the customer, like the example I'm about to give. I called back a 3rd time after googling the address just to spite her but a guy answered. He was VERY professional and nice and honestly saved my business. Again had static on the phone so he even called me back from a different phone and verified everything on the order was correct. Great service. Then I met the delivery driver -- Jared. What a great guy. We had a short chat about his military service. I'll order again if you send him as the driver. Bottom line--it met my expectations. It was delivered when they said it would be. It was warm, the potato was steaming. The steak was warm and pink in the middle like I wanted. Little salty but good Smokey flavor. Tip-- I ordered medium rare knowing it will continue cooking in the tin foil during the drive over and it ended up being perfect medium like i wanted. We have been a long time customer for the Steak Express here in Abilene...NOT ANYMORE. The past 3 or for experiences have been terrible with either left out items and redeliveries. Tonight's experience has by far been the worst. We had placed an order and a burger was left off and not delivered. While placing the order, I was constantly interrupted with "is that all" after each item I placed. We placed an order for over $60.00 in food. Once we received our food, a burger/chips was missing and no fixings for any burgers. We called back, they said they would charge us for another burger and it would be another 40-45 minute wait. Talked to the manager, who we were told was named Bee, and he never apologized for missing burger or blundering the order. He stated it would be another $11.00 for the burger and the fixings would be delivered in another 40-45 minutes. They were instructed to return to pick up the order...which they did...and tried to short change us on the total price. The receipt by the way was ripped in the process of delivering the food. We let the driver keep his $7.00 tip and will now be purchasing food elsewhere. What a disappointment... read more

How nice to be able to wait for better delivery food than pizza and Chinese! The burger is really chargrilled flavor, with the meat and bun wrapped in foil and separate from the cold pack of fixings to go inside. We have had steaks, they are not fancy but good, and you have to see how huge the chicken breast was when we ordered a chicken sandwich to try this time. I've ordered them twice because the menu says they are tender. Both times they have been tough and overcooked. Both times my dog has eaten most of the steak because it was like jerky.
