We wanted a metallic epoxy floor in our garage and 2 other companies we consulted told us it was not doable. Seth said "no problem" and put a beautiful mercury color floor down in 1.5 days (half the time any of the other companies quoted us to do a chip floor). Not only that, Seth also stained the concrete wall in our garage as well as fixing some holes in our garage wall for the same price initially quoted for our floor. Seth came back after the job was done to make sure the garage boundary was perfectly straight and to remove any imperfections (such as a fly that had decided to land in the epoxy while it was curing). My profession as a civil engineer has trained me to research and select contractors based on their performance history. When I decided to fix my garage floor (which had been damaged by fire and demolition equipment used to clear the burnt debris) I did my usual research and found a few good contractors to install epoxy coating on my garage floor. After talking to each one, I selected Seth Thompson of Texas Tough Tops because I felt honesty and sincerity in him. Did I make the right decision? You bet! Seth and his team did a remarkable job. The floor needed a lot of work to cover the broken and rutted concrete. They rebuilt the edges by hand, filled cracks and smoothed the concrete prior to the epoxy installation. Their process consisted of grinding, repairing the concrete, an epoxy coating, hand tossed flaky chips (colors selected by us) and finally a smooth top coat the next day. They mentioned that the epoxy may discolor over time when exposed to sunlight. Seth got another high grade top coat for just the area outside the garage door and applied that to prevent discoloration. I had a lot stuff in the garage, accumulated over the last 12 years. If I took the stuff out, he offered to bring a tarp to cover it, which he did. He also offered that if there was anything heavy, he and his men would move it for us. They did! They came the day they promised, did the work per the schedule they had set for our project and completed the job on time. Everything they said they would do, they did and much more, which frankly was a very pleasant surprise. When they left, I had a beautiful garage floor. After I had put things back in the garage and threw out what was not needed, Seth came back and volunteered to power wash the driveway that had dust due to the concrete grinding. He also power washed the garage door and other outside doors. In short, Seth and his team did a lot more work than what I expected. To help me out they did work that was clearly not part of their contract. And the kicker --- They offered the best price of everyone I had talked to. I hope, for their sake that they continue with the honest and good work they did for me and I am confident that they will be very successful. It has been a pleasure working with Seth and his team. The whole process was painless and the price was BETTER than many competitors who use inferior materials. Texas Tough Tops uses industrial coatings as much of their work is industrial/commercial. I thoroughly research just about anything I buy and since I am a woodworker (hobbyist) who uses epoxies as well as stains, paints and other coatings regularly I am aware of the components that that lead to a durable finish that will cure quickly and last. Since this company does commercial (airplane hangars, etc.) they use a product with a high solids composition which yields superior durability. Even their residential customers (me) benefit from that because the same coatings are used. I also really appreciated the advice on color I was given. I originally wanted a gray/silver floor but the owner (by asking questions like what color my home was, etc.) challenged me to think about it in a different way and we decided on "bone" instead of gray and I am very glad I went that direction. The crew arrived on time and prepped the surface (again, this is critical and something I am aware of coming from a furniture building perspective) and then put on the epoxy. This evening (one day later) the owner himself came out to put on the top coat to add durability and prevent discoloration from UV light, etc. The process from start to finish has been great and the garage looks SO much brighter and appealing. I wish we would have known that the fumes would have been so intense bc we would have prepared a little differently proactively. After she OK'd the (very reasonable) price, he was able to fit us in his schedule quickly. The finish is beautiful and the she was able to pick the exact colors she wanted. After it was done, my mom decided she wanted to add a little more "grit" to the surface, (for a minimal amount $) which Seth was able to do in a matter of days and it feels and looks great. I had come across Seth's information from a co-worker that had nothing but good things to say about the garage floor job they had done and boy was I glad I did. Seth was very easy to work with and communicated very well when it came to epoxying my 2 car garage. He was able to easily answer all my questions and concerns as this was my first floor to epoxy. This is a big thing when it comes to contractors as I was understanding exactly what I was paying for. He did this as a 2 day process, and it turned out fantastic. One thing I like is he diamond grinds and acid washes it so you get a good surface for the epoxy to adhere to. I think this will assist in the floor not coming up in the long run as I have seen with other friends garages that might have opted to do it themselves with a kit or other contractors. Seth also went the extra mile when we were outside looking at it and throwing the flakes in by recommending to add in another color of chips (that he happen to have on the truck) that he thought would match the color of paint in the garage. I'm glad we did that as it pulls everything together! This just shows the type of customer service you are dealing with!
