Calling all nostalgia buffs! Love toys and games from the 60s? How about the 70s? 80s? 90s? Come on down! The museum has an incredibly large display of toys from those eras. Not to mention arcade games like pinball and video games. Here's a fun tidbit, you can play the games! Playing them is free. Well, you do pay admission to enter the museum so it's part of that. I've only been once and it was sensory overload! So much to take in. Definitely gonna need to go back at least one more time. Of course there's a gift shop that sells vintage toys and all kinds of other great stuff. They even sell beer & cider refreshments (not vintage lol). It's a small place packed with an impressive number of figures, especially in the G.I. Joe section. They also have detailed figure displays for Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter. There are additional displays featuring Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Barbie, Sailor Moon, Transformers, Dragon Ball, Power Rangers, Monchhichi, Pokémon, and more. We played several arcade games, including Crazy Taxi, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Dance Dance Revolution. Most of the arcade machines worked well, except for the Xbox. They also play old TV commercials on small screens scattered throughout the store. It really feels like a time capsule of shared experiences with my older cousins, and I had a lot of fun. I didn't expect there to be an admission fee--$17 for adults and $11 for kids--but the arcade games are included with admission. read more

Wow! What a gem for all ages! We came here to kill time and ended up staying for twice as much longer than planned! We originally were just going to check out the store front, but ended up giving in to the whole museum and free play arcade admission! Engaging in a scavenger hunt throughout the store PLUS playing all of the OG arcade games PLUS exploring all of the nostalgic things all at once was so fun for us that we found ourselves encouraging other people we met throughout the day to go check it out too! We stayed long enough to experience both the weekend rush and had a good chunk of time with the whole place just to ourselves too. Unless you're an avid toy collector, it's not worth the price of admission. The toys are nostalgic if you grew up in the 70s or 80s, but nothing more "vintage" than that. It's giving hoarder's basement more than museum. If you want to play pinball, there are many cheaper, better equipped arcades across the city. read more

Step back in time and enjoy this collection of nostalgia games and toys from yesteryear. It's taken a lot of time and to organize the memorabilia. It's been in the making for ten years. It was fun to browse and enjoy the memories. They have added newer dated items to the collection like the popular Anime characters from Japan. There is an arcade in the back, you pay admission to gain entry to this part of the museum. There is no charge to shop through extensive collection in the front part of the store. What a hidden gem. Looking to kill some time? Stop by the Texas Toy Museum. it is a love letter to the kid in all of us. It's a small museum but you get in and out privileges for the whole day. They offer some food and beer. The clerk was super sweet and was very talking. The layout of the music Is smart. Work your way through your child hood. If your a toy collector then you will find this place extremely interesting. A vast collection of action figures and other items, all grouped and displayed within their own giant dioramas. Every inch of this place is just covered with items, even the passage to the restrooms. Lot's of classic video games going back to the original space invaders and all on free play. There is a cover charge to get in but you can stay and play as long as you like. If your not into playing the games then the entry fee is a little steep. But, I can see they need to charge to keep the place open and pay the bills and probably machine upkeep. Recommended if your into playing retro games and pinball. read more

For under $20, this arcade x toy museum is absolutely fantastic. I was thrilled that they had DDR Extreme 2 available to play unlimited, though the AC was not super strong. The scavenger hunt (with free stickers) was fun, and it was exhilarating to find Waldo (and get a little prize - I got a Pokemon!). It was really cool seeing the elaborate figurine setups and reading brief histories of each franchise. I do think I was expecting it to be a little bit better maintained; it feels less like a museum and more of someone's basement (though lovingly curated). I had to go to the bathroom to adjust my contacts and it smelled so intensely of urine that I had to hold my breath. If you're not staying long though, this shouldn't affect you. read more

It was worth $18 just to see all those action figures I owned in the 1980s. This place has almost EVERY Action Figure collection from Ninja Turtles to Thundercats to the Mego dolls of the 70s. I saw figures I'd completely forgotten about, like M.U.S.C.L.E. Men. On the downside, it is way too small for everything to be displayed properly and the arcade games they have are few in number. I have seen this talked about on here, my Facebook, and X(ugh) but never made it in. The front entrance has some toys and things you can buy, they sell soda and water if you would like. The cost of the self tour can be a bit more then your expecting but the fact they have so many types of toys and collectibles in such a unique space plus arcade cabinets and consoles ranging from Sega to XBOX with free to play/included with cost is a nice touch and you can stay however long you want, a quick tour or a long day of looking over everything and playing games. They include a scavenger hunt where you can win small prizes and they have a ton of old toys from Barbie to M.U.S.C.L.E to magic and Pokemon cards. G.I Joe has the largest section along a wall and DC and Marvel have their own areas. Spawn, TMNT, and so many more get to share in this spotlight, it would take several reviews to go over everything but it is very neat and a nice throwback look at childhood. Guy running it owns it and most of the toys are his. You won't catch or see everything in one go but it was fun walking around and sometimes catching something the second time you see the display you didn't see on the first go round. I highly recommend going at least once. It is a cool idea and a fun set up. read more
