They're not very responsive by Tock or e-mail unfortunately, but it was still a great time! (I tried to reach out about a discount on 13 tickets and never got a reply.) Parking: Awful, gotta roll the dice on the neighborhoods nearby. Thankfully not too many blocked off streets. Almost like a hidden secret of South Austin! We went with a group of 13 guys, half in Ren Faire costume, for their monthly night market evening. You're welcomed at the door by a very enthusiastic orc and should come prepared to show ID. Check-in was seamless with their emailed order. The venue itself is small and could practically be someone's home. Karaoke was an offshoot room that fit only about 10 people. It's a lot more spacious in the back than it seems, opening up to plenty of seating where groups were seen chatting or playing tabletop games. There weren't many vendors but a great wizard was there giving away little fortunes that was very wholesome. Overall, great spot for a date or for one of their themed nights. It was a really fun experience, although it was a tad on a slower side after 7pm (the drag show didn't start until 9). We were greeted at the door by Zizi (?? I'm sorry of if I misspelled it), who was dressed in a very elaborate fantasy warrior costume. The place was giving very much Skyrim vibes (made me wanna play the game again too. It has a few really cool areas to hang out, definitely a great spot to be at after dark. There's an entry fee of $15 per person but they also have a membership which ma worth for someone trying to go there more often than 3 times a month. We found this place randomly locked behind a mysterious door. It was $15 for a day pass so you can walk around, eat somewhere and return. It's pretty much like a mini ren fair with neat drinks and like two snacks on the menu. They also have performances later in the night. It's mostly worth it if you plan to stay for longer. They claim to be non profit. So all the money goes back into keeping this up. read more

This is more of a place for my boyfriend but, I like it. A lot. So much fun! It doesn't matter that I am not into fantasy, game playing, ren stuff, etc. because it is still just a blast to go. I feel like each time it's a different experience (always good). They've got yummy snack and good drinks. Everything themed, of course, which I love. It's also cool because you can grab a spot and play any games that you bring in with you as well. read more

Such a unique experience! The vibes were awesome both inside and out and every drink I got was delicious (especially the fairy wine!) If you have your own games you want to bring also a perfect spot for that. Overall would want to come back and spend more time here or attend an event! What a delightful place! A very dear friend of mine came from across the veil of the fae to come see me, and she insisted we try out the Tiny Minotaur. Upon our visit we were safely greeted by an honorable guard, received words of wisdom from a whimsical wizard, tasted the most divine of brews (as a wizard myself, I personally quite enjoyed the fog cloud), gathered up escaped beasties that had hidden themselves across the grounds, and had the loveliest conversations with the elves taking care of the place. We had such a lovely time there, and fellow friends and adventures, let me tell you, this was a *quiet* night at the Tiny Minotaur. I've heard tales of many exciting events, I can only imagine what thrills and merriment could be had. Genuinely, thank you everyone there, the love and care put into what you do is evident, seen, and appreciated. We came in genuinely excited for what was marketed as a fun, nerdy bar experience. We paid for entry expecting a good time -- instead, we were kicked out almost immediately with no real explanation. Nothing about our behavior warranted it. It felt more like we didn't fit whatever narrow image they had in mind for their crowd. For a place that claims to be inclusive and welcoming, the vibe was judgmental, cliquey, and downright rude. If you're looking for a place that actually values people and treats paying guests with basic respect -- this is not it. Hard pass. read more

It's a D&D type bar. Very well put together. Though there's not a lot of soft chairs. The drink selection is small but respectable, a limited run of canned and bottled beers, cider, liquor and mixed drinks. They have fancy and nonfancy cocktails with a price difference to match. They also have house sangria or mulled wine depending on the season. Very limited food selection, hotdogs and cheese boards only. There is a cover. Drink prices are reasonable for downtown. Reservations aren't required, and costumes aren't either for most nights. From the sounds of things the kayfabe is more enforced on weekend nights and special events, which are listed on the website. From the sounds of things there are other events not listed. Staff are friendly and welcoming. It's obvious this is a labor of love. There is a selection of board and card games, as well as a decent library of books. There is smoking allowed outside. Ash trays are plentiful. Please keep in mind I went on a Tuesday, so it was a nice cozy chill space. I can see this place being packed on a weekend. read more

The Tiny Minotaur was the most welcoming and charming fantasy tavern--my husband and I had so much fun, we went TWICE on our weekend trip to Austin! We got to meet some of the regular characters at the local haunt, while also getting the opportunity to see our first drag show! Occasionally, I will start a review saying that I was holding off on writing about this place because I wanted to keep it to myself. And this is one such review! I adore the Tiny Minotaur. Every time I go, I go with a different set of friends. It is a great experience every time. Everyone I have brought here has loved it. First, you go for the atmosphere, you should absolutely take your fantasy nerd friends here. The set up is gorgeous, both indoors and out have a lovely vibe that is cozy and fun. I have yet to try the food here, they have like charcuterie boards and oddly enough hot dogs. I'm sure there's more but I can't recall. The drinks are so good! I always try a cocktail and then I get a cider. They're so refreshing. In addition to those they have fancy flavored soda too! The pandan and ube soda is fizzy and delightful. The bartenders are all quick and kind. Get yourself a fortune and tip the wizard outside! There's always fun things to check out. Let your nerd out and stop by the rift! read more

After they opened the inside area it's so warm if it's chilly outside :) The theme of this place is incredible, super duper heart filled atmosphere with attention to detail. I'm not really into fantasy/DnD/Renaissance Faire type stuff but I came here to see a band my friend is in- I fell in love with this place!! Even if it's not your "scene", do NOT let that deter you from grabbing a drink or seeing a show here. It's like a tiny permanent Ren Faire pub, candlelit and super cozy. $10 for a day pass if you're not a member. The drinks and snacks were 90s prices!! I got a little charcuterie box (reminded me of the ones on airplanes but with fresh bread) for $4 and a PINE NEEDLE SODA for I think $3. The cocktail AND non-alcoholic menus were so unique and amazing with cold and hot drinks. Theres a free library that has jewelry and costume pieces too, and the books included a trans youth resource guide and fantasy/sci-fi novels. The back "yard" has been landscaped into a sort of Greek courtyard with tables, a lovely bamboo forest path, and vendor booths that look like an ancient open air market. Everyone was dressed in costumes like gnomes and stuff which was adorable but I felt completely welcome and comfortable in jeans. Oh, and they have coins you can buy at the door if you want to be more immersive and pay the bar with them, but you can also just pay with card. Wonderful friendly, super fast service too.
