Dallas tree surgeons removed a pecan tree that had its seasons all out of whack and was in need of of some serious love and care. From their arborists assessment they advised us they could give it injections to help it become more stable or remove it. My wife and I decided to just remove it. They had the tree down and loaded in about 30 minutes and it wasn't a small tree. The whole transaction was flawless I can not recommend anyone other then these guys. I had Emily come out and give a quote on trimming and fixing a sick tree. They came out quickly and had very competitive pricing. They seem to really care about the customer and the tree. After deciding to go with them I called on a Monday and came home from work the next day with my tree trimmed. I have been so impressed with Andy, one of the Arborists on staff. He is a straight shooter and very knowledgable about trees. He is not going to sell you something that you don't need. I also loved the fact that Andy came out to our house for a FREE evaluation. During one of Andy's two visits to our house, we asked him if he would look around our neighborhood since many of the mature trees looked as if they were sick with Oak Wilt. He took time to look at a good portion of the neighborhood, talk with many neighbors (who were not on his schedule) and provided TRUTHFUL, great recommendations. He wasn't trying to sell something that people didn't need or that frankly wouldn't help. Because of his efforts, we are working with Texas A&M (the only people who can diagnosis Oak Wilt) on a plan for our neighborhood. We are so thankful for his knowledge! read more

We used Dallas Tree Surgeons this month to trim a largish red oak that hadn't been trimmed in at least 10 years. It was before the storm and I am so glad we did because who knows what would have happened to the tree with those winds. It looks terrific with no guidance from us. The crew was very tidy and took care with the job. There wasn't a bit of debris after the work was complete. We have used Preservation Tree service in the past and while they were good the pricing of Dallas Tree Surgeons was better and we still had an arborist's expertise on the project. Professional crew came out later this week and removed the dead branches and cut down a damaged tree. Paid way less than my neighbor who got price gauged by another company , 3x what I paid. 1st time customer - - Over the weeks, I had contacted four different arborist / tree service professionals to provide a proposal for main tree branch "repair work" (and tree trim) that needed bolted and cabled. A split was occurring due to branch weight(s) and completing branch joint growth, with said ... I chose Dallas Tree Surgeons because they were the only company to contact me back with 24 hrs and schedule a next day appointment. Two of the other companies were at least a week out and were not able (or willing) to move me up even with the added severity of the situation. The recent rains had made it worse ... more weight, more stress - now I was truly concerned the main large branch would fracture and fall onto the house. Dallas Tree Surgeons clearly understood this and priority scheduled me. Job was just finished and the team has left ... they did a very through tree trim and "repair". The trunk was bolted in two places and cabled further up. The team picked up and left the place clean. The foreman has character and integrity (17 yr. tree professional) ..... unbeknownst to me, my "anal" neighbor who watched the entire tree servicing event, approached the foreman while he was cleaning up and offered him $25 to go back up the tree and trim a little more off "his side" of the blue sky - after all, my huge tree was providing too much shade and "stunting" the growth of his newly planted trees! The foreman walked off from him and came straight to me and told me what just transpired .... shocked, no - not from that particular neighbor. Thankful ... Each time I have phoned to request service, someone has come out within twenty-four hours to have a look-see and provide an estimate. The actual service--whether trimming, planting, or treatment--has always been prompt. I have not encountered trouble with the billing. Each time, the verbal estimate has been in line with the written invoice and I have never been asked to remit payment before services were rendered. read more

The Owner contacted me and was going to send someone else out to give me another quote to clean up the new growth shoots on the main branches and trunk. *I really appreciated her doing so. And I was going to let her send someone else to look at the trees but after going through all of this and in looking at what really needed to be done I just decided to get a ladder and use my rose cutting sheers and cut off the little 10 inch shoots myself. Dallas Tree Surgeons sent out Lindsey, one of their certified arborist, who was very helpful in explaining the proper way to do tree trimming. I have never had this done before and was very nervous. The tree trimmers came two days later and trimmed four large elm trees and removed a dead branch over my roof. They were so nice, cleaned up everything and it looks great. We live in Forest Hills, which is known for its trees. So, we didn't want to trust just any lawn guy with the health of our trees. Dallas Tree Surgeons has been the perfect fit. They came this week to do a thorough "trimming", but prior to Andy inspected all of the 10+ trees on our property for health, and maintenance needs. I had 2-3 conversations with him about each tree, but in the end he didn't try to upsale me on expensive "treatments" and things that weren't needed. He just quoted me a fair price for trimming everything up and removing a dead tree that was about to fall on the house. After the work was done, we came home and everything had been cleaned up - including our gutters and back patio being cleared of all debris and leaves that had accumulated over the past few weeks! I couldn't recommend these folks more highly. They are experts, having trained and licensed arborists on staff - including the owner. If you need help with your trees, call these folks. read more

I lost a 17 year old tree during the recent Wylie hail storm which blocked me from getting out of front door. I called next morning and Emily came out after lunch and had a crew at my house within 4 hours. Their crews are so experienced they had my huge tree cut up, chipped and all signs of the tree removed in about 20 minutes. Everyone was so courteous and sympathetic of the rest of the house damage. Their cost is very reasonable and you have no work after they're gone. Second time I've used their services and was very pleased both times. read more

I was quoted a substantial price to have 3 very large mature trees trimmed which is expected. Tree surgeons came out on two different occasions to take pictures and we agreed on specific limbs to be fully removed. Additionally, they reiterated several times that they would be cleaning out the interior of the trees and eliminating any dead limbs or very small brushy limbs that were virtually covered by higher ones. After completion of the work, they only removed two large branches that we agreed on and then cleaned the drip line (lowest hanging branches around perimeter of trees). They did not clean out of any of the trees. Multiple limbs we agreed to eliminate altogether were not removed. In my opinion, they did less than a quarter of the work we agreed on. I called them back out and explained for the price, I was expecting a lot more limbs to be removed and the clean out to be completed. I'm interested in results in a no-hassle environment. This is the approach that I use for all of my service needs. I want contractors to show up on time, to thoroughly complete the task and to be available in case issues arise. I was referred to Dallas Tree Surgeons by a co-worker and gave them a call. I've used Dallas Tree Surgeons twice in the past and will certify that they have more than delivered my needs. In early 2010, they trimmed a 40 year old Ash tree in my front yard that was perilously close to falling into my neighbor's living room. I spoke to Lindsey (an arborist) from DST and was impressed with her knowledge and enthusiasm. We decided that even though the tree should be cut down and replaced, a good trim would reduce the risk of having the tree fall since we could not afford removal at the time (the tree was MASSIVE). At that point, Lindsey also recommended a plan for when I was ready to replace the tree. I recently called DST to cut down the ash and replace the Ash with a Red Oak. The Ash was a difficult removal in that part of the tree was hanging over my neighbor's home and could not simply be cut and allowed to fall. There was also an old security light mounted roughly 20 feet up in the tree which needed to be addressed. The work was completed promptly and for a very reasonable price. The new tree was planted and I've been very happy to do business with DST. Why not give them 5 stars (he asked rhetorically)??? The one concern that we had was that the crew for planting the new Oak tree arrived unannounced at 8:30 am on a Saturday. My wife and I have two fully grown boxers who went nuts when the crew arrived. We usually take them to the dog park when we're having work done on the house so they were pretty wound up for 5 or 10 minutes until they calmed down. They were fine and it wasn't a big deal, but it was a bit surprising. The staff apologized and took fully responsibility for the issue... which is great because I'm not a huge fan of excuses. That's the only negative. DST is easy to work with... the prices are very reasonable and I was impressed with the quality of the work. Initially I had a great experience with the representative they sent out for the estimate. I went over my concerns and what I would like to have done. She seemed very nice and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the team they sent out was not informed of any of this information. There was a complete disconnect between the information the arborist and I discussed and the crew. Not only was the crew unclear on what needed to be done, there was a language barrier. I do not fault the crew at all, they should of had better instructions and clearer direction. It is a very poor way to run a business, especially at their prices. I also had crape myrtles sprayed for scales. They came out, sprayed once and that was it, no check up. I still have scales. (**With a "Second Most Annoying" nomination going to the Mr. Parker of Parker Bros. who does tend to not keep his scheduled appointments for estimates, and then there is a Third Place nomination to "Some Tree Guy" with The Most Terrrible cell phone reception! I mean TERRIBLE reception! The worst kind! My voice mail from this hapless traveler was an electronic warble, a broken melodic tale of discord --or was it joyful confusion? whale song? and I could only know that it was from some tree guy, wanting only to cut my tree. Your phone sucks.**) All of the above which brought me to Dallas Tree Surgeons. Now, you should know DTS made quite a good impression at first. They have one chipper little sales team. A certified arborist will be at your door before you quite know what you've even agreed to, and BAM! there's your estimate. So responsive! And uniforms with name-tags? This must be professionalism! Schedule me, dammit! After the prior issues with the horridly bad cell calls and Mr. Expert No-Show, wasn't I just wooed? So I was, so I was. Well, that's where the love ends. And not even mostly because of the unexpected damage to my tree, which I am admittedly sad about. Because DTS offered no acknowledgement of the mistake (beyond the apologetic crewman who knocked at the door to let us know he broke the tree), I am rather led to believe that their upper tier management were not aware of it. Which leads me to further speculate that the persons performing "SURGERY" on the one substantial tree on my property probably had no specialized knowledge of trees. A certified arborist on every cutting crew? Pretty doubtful! Unless one should prefer to believe that these crewman attained their artisanal mastery in Panama or thereabouts. Because the ones servicing my property, in addition to not really knowing how to not break my tree, seemed to have only a remedial grasp of spoken English. You can imagine that was a huge comfort when asking if my branch would be "safe"-- as in, "Will it hurt us?" The broken English was such a strong touch of professionalism! I still really have no idea what I was told by the DTS representative on site. He said words such as "break" and "wind" but it was all littered by such a strong espanolic accent that I really could not understand what he was saying. I tried to get him to reiterate what was said by asking, "Do you think the branch will break if the wind is really blowing?" But the gentleman merely mumbled to himself in his own tongue and looked away somewhat hurriedly. Gosh, that was a little frustrating! But surely DTS team members possess only the strongest expertise in arborology, so I am so very NOT worried AT ALL that my tree might hurt someone in my family. Do you know why?? Because, a certified arborist determined that the damaged section of my tree only needed to be painted black! Can you see the charm yet? I will admit that I was cross for a number of weeks and did not want to speak with anyone there about the problem, nor pay my bill until the problem had been spoken about. But, I did nonetheless need to pay my bill, and seeing as how there is no web payment option, this would require a special phone call to the company so that I could use my chosen payment method. (Credit, of course!) It seemed like a fine time to discuss the unexpected damage to my tree, and whether there would be any steps to remedy the problem. THANKFULLY, they sent a crew out to put black paint on the damaged portion almost immediately! Can you guess what was not "remedied?" My bill. Oh yes! No, there wasn't the merest mention of an adjustment to my final bill. (You know, because my property was damaged.... Small businesses gots minimally credentialed crews to feed, yo!) And how small is DTS? Well, they seem pretty darned bent out of shape that I've owed them $47 for a few weeks. To the tune of WEEKLY PHONE CALLS demanding this pittance. They've sincerely let me know that they don't think I'm good for it. Damn, I appreciate that! And I really appreciate the WEEKLY PHONE CALLS! "Ugh, hello, it's Dallas Tree service again.. and we really want our 47 dollars from you bitches!" I am merely suggesting that it might be somewhat more advisable to send a piece of paper stating that there is balance due. Ohhh, I think I get it though.. they love trees so darned much that they ARBHOR paper! It's all about a love of trees here, people. Well they can do the work, but when it comes to billing, they seem to have ulterior motives. They don't invoice and then threaten with liens. This is a clear effort to avoid their inadequate adminstrative function and lay the blame at the feet of their customers. Think it would be easier just to pay one of the guys when the work is complete? Nope, they can't take the money. If you use them, be prepared to call and request an invoice, you probably won't get one if you don't. But as a master gardener I'd recommend you look around before choosing this company, not worth the hassle. read more

I had a great experience with Dallas Tree Surgeons (DTS). My neighbor had some work done and they needed to trim our tree above their Crepe Myrtle. DTS trimmed their tree and ours this past Monday. I wanted DTS to do more, but we needed to get an estimate which they did on Monday late morning and told me that they would be out later in the week to do the work. I spoke with the arborist about the trees, and she was very helpful and guided me through the process. With winter approaching I was very worried about our two trees and felt like any snow, or ice accumulation could cause severe damage to the trees any thing in the way. The work was completed while I was out of town, and my wife called to tell me how good they looked. I was happy to hear that they looked great, but my I wasn't going to jump to any conclusion over the phone. I arrived home last night and couldn't wait to see the trees, and although it was dark I could tell that they had done a great job. I looked again this morning, and it wasn't a dream; the trees looked great! I will recommend Dallas Tree Surgeons and my wife is pleased that I'm not up on a ladder doing the work myself:) read more
