After a free visit by their certified arborist Hannah and very reasonable bid, I hired them to trim my 2 red oaks. Hannah listened carefully to all my wishes and concerns. I wanted the limbs trimmed off the roof and all dead ones cut off, but with a minimalist approach. She understood and gave me valuable feedback on her careful approach to trimming red oaks. Great crew! They took down a massive live oak in the span of just a few hours. This was impressive given the closeness of 2 houses and a pool to the tree. The crew worked together almost silently which shows just how in tune they were. Very efficient. Most importantly, no damage was incurred and the crew did a wonderful clean up job afterwards. Also very important to note: we contacted about 8 different tree removal companies. All of them provided quotes lower than Texas Tree Surgeons. However, none of the other companies had general liability insurance which would have paid for any damages caused by the crew during the process. Having the peace of mind that we were covered was worth the extra cost. read more

It was a tricky project that we couldn't trust to the lawn guy (way too much weight over our house and our neighbor's.) Wow! What can I say! Andy from Texas Tree Surgeons came day after my call for an estimate to trim my native pecan tree that hangs over my pool. A crew cam out the following day around 1pm and was gone before I got home from work! Cleanup was thorough and not a branch was left behind and no remains left in the pool. Best trim ever done on this tree! It's amazing how much work was done so quickly and it needed a lot of work! The company I last used 3 years before, had butchered it something awful! The price was much less than the other estimates I received and payment was so easy to make online. Going forward, I will only call Texas Tree Surgeons for any and all tree services I need! I've had my eye on Dallas Tree Surgeons for a while. I've been talking with Amy from the company. She's a certified Arborist and has a deep love and passion for trees. I've used Holcomb Tree Service in the past and was not happy with them so after I had the trees trimmed last time I started my search for someone I could trust. Dallas Tree Surgeons had given me a bid, which was fair, but still expensive due to the amount of trees and work that needed to be done in them so I've held off....until last night...one of the large limbs collapsed on my driveway making it impossible to get my car out. I had Amy's number in my phone so I called her at 7 AM. Granted, keep in mind she had never met me, only bid on my trees. She was SOOOO awesome and redirected her crew to come and help me. I usually wait until after my experience to write a review but the guys (4 of them) are still here and have been working on my tree for 2 hours and they are doing an amazing job! They really take a lot of care when bringing the large limbs down and will not damage your house. They are making proper pruning cuts for the integrity of the tree. If you need your trees trimmed....don't wait like I did, have complete confidence hiring Dallas Tree Surgeons. UPDATE: I had Dallas Tree Surgeons back later this week and they did a great job. Our extremely large tree was damaged by the winter storm. It is trying to come back, but there was so much dead that needed to be removed. We knew this was going to be a full day job, but the crew didn't arrive until 1PM. They said it would only take 2 to 3 hours. By 5:15 PM, there was still a large amount of tree left to be cut. It was about to get dark, and I said I didn't want them in the tree cutting limbs when it was dark, and that they needed to come back tomorrow. The yard was still FULL of cut limbs. They started working faster to try to get the limbs down before it was dark. There was no protection put around the bushes at the foundation of the house, nor was my Japanese Maple tree protected. They did not have a mulcher, so there were several loads of tree limbs hauled off in a trailer several times during the project. Now that it was dark, they had the one trailer to haul everything. It was so full, that the bottom of the trailer was almost hitting the ground. I saw that the Japanese Maple had lots of broken branches in it, so I started trying to clean them out. All the bushes around the foundation were also full of broken branches. The trailer started to leave. There was still 1 truck with some of the crew ready to leave. I went out to speak to Raul to let him know that the clean up was unacceptable! The street was still a huge mess, as well as my sidewalk. And, God only knows how bad the yard was as it was too dark to tell. Raul did call the crew back and 6 or 7 guys spent another 30 minutes cleaning up the street and sidewalk. The work of getting the dead limbs out of the tree was OK, but the timing and cleanup were not good. I would not recommend this company to do your tree work. read more

Been using them for a decade. A bit pricey. But they get the job done, esp by the city's standards. Last time i used them, felt a bit "disposable" after they missed their appointment w me. I didnt get a call or email, just didnt come. After contacting them, they sent their crew out the next day. No harm done. Well, except my neighbors were unhappy for a couple of days, as Dallas Tree Surgeons asked us to park our vehicles elsewhere to make room for their trucks. What Texas Tree Surgeons quoted us for the work was a fraction of what another local company had tried to charge us in what was clearly a slimy upsell attempt. Thank you for your reply. The written proposal I agreed to stated that you will trim 3-4 feet from the roof. Hannah agreed when she came back to inspect, that on the front side of the house, several branches were indeed too close to the roof. About a foot away only. Not the agreed upon raising 3-4 feet from the roof. I am disappointed that you find a family member's opinion about the finished job a nuisance rather than an opportunity for you to do better to satisfy a customer. I have explained to your manager that my husband is ill and therefore couldn't stay during the trimming. He is in fact hospitalized at the moment. Btw, when I talked to Jade, it wasn't to complain. She insisted when I told her about my husband's concerns that she will talk to you hoping you can waive the fee and come back to address his concern. My husband is your client too. He owns the property as well so his opinion should matter to you as well. read more

Nowell had a team of 3 other guys and got in/out quickly, and even asked me twice if I liked what had been completed and made a couple additional cuts with no problem. After hearing some bad stories on contractors and groups that don't take responsibility for downed power lines, we went with Dallas Tree Surgeons based on their attentiveness, price, promptness, and courteousness. Emily the arborist that came out for our estimate was extremely knowledgeable and shared info with me about some of the work we wanted done on our tree that others that came out for estimates had failed to answer. When I asked if they followed the ANSI-a300 standards for tree work, she quickly referred me to the company website which not only said they did but also had the correct information for what that entails. That was the clincher. I had been leaning towards going with Chippers even though they were a bit more expensive but when I asked them that same question the answer I got - an explanation of their techniques used in the work included several things that ANSI-a300 standards don't allow. Emily's quick and professional answer and referral to the website was what changed my mind. The work we contracted for was to be done on a 40+ year old Ash tree in front of our house. The were going to do heavy trimming, raising of the canopy away from our roof and also from our neighbors roof which a part of the tree was already touching. They were also going to clear out sucker growth as well. They contacted me a day in advance of the work. The team that came out was professional, wore masks and quickly went about their work. It is both amazing and fun to watch. The work was overdue so quite a lot got taken off but the quickly cleaned up afterwards and I went back out to inspect the work. Noticed maybe three or four places under very large branches where some little suckers were hiding and asked that they be taken off. The team leader took care of it right away. I didn't blame them for not seeing them since they were on top of the branches and couldn't see underneath. I didn't think it was possible but the tree is more beautiful now than it was before the work started! We get much more sunlight in the front room with sunrises. Both mine and the neighbor's roof are free and clear of any branches. Would definitely not hesitate to recommend them again. Will try to add some before and after pictures later. read more

After discussing and deliberating for four days, the company finally decided that they would waive the additional $175 plus tax. The company also said that it would review how they write their work proposals so that it would be less confusing in the future, though their software made it difficult for them to do it. I'm still pretty sure we won't go with them again as the whole process was rather unpleasant for both my husband and I. We've worked with numerous companies, both small and large, and have had to deal with issues before, just like most people. But, the company professionalism when dealing with the owner and the arborist was less than ideal. My husband and I were both rather taken aback as we've never had a company deal with an issue in such a fashion before. But, in the end the company did offer to acknowledge the confusion in how the work proposal was drafted, and waived the fee. So, if I was asked for a recommendation of this company, I would let you decide for yourself. Oh, and to the reviewer from Plano, the Valencia address used in yelp has the exact same phone number, logo, and website as what my contact info says on my work proposal, invoice, and emails to and from Dallas Tree Surgeons, so I'm pretty sure they are one in the same. If you look at the yelp entry for Dyer street, there are no reviews, no logo, and a completely different phone number than what I called and what is on all of my paperwork from the company. I wouldn't use Dallas Tree Surgeons again. Though the tree trimming job was what I was looking for, and the price was relatively reasonable, they were disorganized and disappointingly unprofessional. The crew left trash in my yard, and though the price included clean-up and haul-away, branches were left all over the place. When I let them know, they did send the crew out to clean up again, but they still missed some pretty big branches, which I then had to clean up. Then I never received an invoice, but a couple weeks later got a collections call from them, complaining they hadn't gotten a payment. When I mentioned I hadn't received an invoice, but would gladly send payment when I did, they argued that they had sent an invoice a couple days after the service was provided. They did agree to "resend" an invoice, and the situation is handled now, but I'll be looking elsewhere next time I need my trees trimmed. Edit: After leaving this review and a couple others, DTS contacted me to try to smooth things over. They did offer a partial refund for the hassle, and seemed genuine about wanting to make things right. I still have my concerns, but their professional handling of the situation after the fact has turned my "never again" to a "maybe." read more

Well the owner of Dallas Tree Surgeons again makes it appear it is all the customers fault for their lack of good business skills and they think threatening legal action in the form of liens and lawyers wins them new customers. There is an old adage that the customer is always right and when you fail to understand the rule as a business owner you lose. Fortunately I was able to save my trees using a different reputable tree company. They went over the plan that Dallas Tree Surgeons had recommended and explained how wrong it was for my type of trees as well as properly identifying for the first time the trees. Additionally they provided us with a written comprehensive plan with pricing and not a " back of the envelope" guess that Dallas Tree Surgeons had provided and tried to implement. So Dallas tree Surgeons are correct that I did not complain about services in my review because we were unaware of how remiss Dallas Tree Surgeons were with their initial recommended tree plans. I did however complain to them about how they sprayed chemicals all over my vehicles, my neighbors vehicles, my windows which were just cleaned and the whole front of my house! I think Dallas Tree Surgeons forgot to mention that little part. I had to pay to clean my neighbors vehicles. There are several other reviews that also speak to this issue as well. The bill was indeed paid and we were dropped from their service list forever! Thank goodness for that! As much as Dallas Tree Surgeons would like to play down this review, there are still other potential customers that may be unaware and need a look into the poor recommendations, the poor invoicing, the berating treatment of customers, the legal threats and general bad customer relationships Dallas Tree Surgeons tend to practice and judging from other reviews seems to continue to perpetuate. There are other alternative tree companies that provide great service and really are professional with their business. Unfortunately I did not experience that with Dallas Tree Surgeons. read more
