Called Texas Tree Surgeons after seeing their name recommended on Nextdoor repeatedly in user comments. My two live oaks were losing bark and I was worried about their health. Steve came out and looked over the trees and walked me through what he was seeing. With many years of experience and being a licensed arborist and his great demeanor, he helped my technically oriented brain to understand these great living trees. The trees were responding the way they were supposed to and were not in danger of dying off, like I had worried about. No extra TLC was needed, but they could use with a trim to help them continue to grow to their potential. Steve's explanations about the when, why and how of trimming oaks were different from my previous vendors. He explained what he could do, what he recommended against and what he believed was in the tree's best interest and thus our best interest to have healthy trees. And he was the first to warn me about Oak Wilt disease and the need to keep to a certain time of year when having the tree trimmed. The quote provided for the trimming was far different than what we have had in the past and this included the trimming of our Photinias, which had a rough year last year, and our Crape Myrtles. Most vendors have come out and given a quote without really examining the trees and environment the way Steve did. And the quote was far more reasonable and with a very specific approach designed to keep the trees healthy and happy. The team was scheduled and they arrived on time and ready. Very polite, they discussed the work to be done and they got started, doing an excellent job. I was very impressed with the way they gathered everything up and loaded onto their trailer. Not a lot of branches and leaves lying around and the trailer didn't look like it had a bunch of branches sticking out in all directions. It was a very secure load. Before leaving they reviewed the trimming they completed on all the trees. It also took less time than I was expecting, even with the cleanup afterwards. Billing came a day later in an e-mail and was it easy to complete the transaction and no surprises on the bill. Steve imparted a lot of great information and there was no sales pressure, upselling or aggrandizement. He is a man who genuinely cares about trees and people and has a professional team working with him. The trees all look great. Highly recommend. read more

Staff thought trimming wasn't necessary because of the age of the tree, and suggested to apply a tree fertilizer, all at no charge. Trimming is a possibility after tree health (Black Fungas) is addressed. In the future TX Tree Surgeons are the first folks to call, if service is required. read more

So when I had some dying branches on my yaupon tree, I urgently looked on Google for someone who could help. She did not charge for the consult, and in fact gave me action items that I can take myself that I'm very satisfied with. I ask for bids on removing the broken branches and cutting up the debris in my yard to 4 ft lengths and stack less than 50 pounds, so that the city could haul away the branches. Contacted Texas Tree Surgeons through Yelp. Out of all companies I messaged, they were the fastest in replying. The arborist, Will K., came to look at our trees the following day. He was patient with my mother's requests for certain work to be done. He gave a very reasonable quote ($460) for two trees. The crew that came later was excellent and also did extra work to please my mother who was not satisfied with the trimming. All in all, great company and service. Contact was mostly online--emails and website to pay invoice. Only downside that we contacted them while they were booked, so had to wait awhile for them to get the job done. Timely w/ Good Communication Skills. I contacted Dallas Tree Surgeons on Wednesday about three trees on my property. One of their Arborist, Kelly, was out the next day and gave me a written estimate. It did take me a few days to decide to move forward, because I was price checking and everyone that I talked to found the estimate on point. I emailed Kelly on Saturday and agreed to the work. There was a miscommunication on my date of service... I was originally told Tuesday but when I got home around 6pm no work had be done. The office was closed, but I emailed Kelly about what happened. He got back to me the next morning, apologized for giving me the wrong date and that the team would be out the same day! Their guy said he would grind down four inches. I go back outside and he had left. My landscape team said he did not go deep enough so they had to finish the job by hand which I had to pay for. They were quick to respond and very friendly. I liked that they knocked on the door to let me know they were starting work and, unlike a lot of companies, they let me know when they were leaving. I'm not sure I'll use them again though. if you're looking for someone that trims your trees while considering what's best for the trees health or how appealing the trees look after the trim then find someone else. If you're looking for a knowledgeable arborist this may be the company for you. I recommend you go with a different company for trimming service. On Sunday September 4, 2022, a storm caused a large branch to fall from a cedar elm tree in my backyard and it landed partially on my house. My wife called for a tree service (Texas Tree Surgeons) as I was out of town to remove the branch and an estimator was sent to our house. The estimate of work was $600 being given. My wife gave her authority for the work to be done believing that this was a major job based on the estimator's description of what would be done. The crew from Texas Tree Surgeons arrived on September 6th at 2:55 PM and were done with their work and left at 3:20 PM. We have Ring video to confirm the times. Upon receiving the invoice from Texas Tree Surgeons, I was shocked that it was for the full $600 as the scope of work completed was very minor and took around 20 minutes. I called Russell at Texas Tree Surgeons regarding my concern on September 9, 2022 and sent him pictures and verification of the time his crew spent. I asked that he considered these factors and if that was fair. He replied to me the next day that he stood by the evaluation of $600 and would not consider any adjustment. I believe that this is a case of of either not all of the work that was quoted taking place or an intentionally increasing the cost of the job because of the high demand for tree cutting services due to the storm. ***Update in response to owners*** Hi Amy, I'm glad that you take your customers reviews seriously and I appreciate you responding to my concerns. I wanted to address your reply so that other consumers have additional context. First, Beckie did approve the work and the cost quoted and it will be paid in full. One call out though is that the agreement she signed was done on a tablet and she was not given a copy (electronic or hard copy) or offered one. Russell did include in the quote that the debris would not be picked up by your company but according to Beckie, based on her conversation with Russell, she understood that the city was going to do a special pickup however that is not the case. When I spoke with Russell, he said he did not tell her that there would be a special pickup and it is possible that Beckie misunderstood so it's a moot point. I've included an additional picture that shows part of the main branch that was cut up and put to the side as my father-in-law wanted it. As you see it is very small and to reiterate there was only one large branch that had fallen. I have also seen the other pictures you posted on Facebook and honestly, they don't make a case that a lot more work was done. I understand your point about a large crew making quick work of the job so let's even take the time it took out of the discussion. Let me use your own point of not taking time into consideration but the size of the job. The pictures of the debris speak volume as to the size of the job. Its indisputable, in my opinion, that is by no means a fair amount of work to cost $600. Perhaps as I mentioned in my original review that not all the work that Russell wrote up in his estimate was actually performed. Perhaps he overestimated the scope of the job or there are other narratives that could possibly be in play. Again, thank you again Amy for replying to my review and providing your side of the transaction. I do fully stand by my review and the provided details, as well as welcome questions regarding the experience from potential consumers. It's unfortunate as we have used your company in the past have been happy however we won't be using your services again in the future nor recommending your company to neighbors and friends anymore as we have done so in the past. One last thing to mention is that during my last conversation with Russell, I told him that I had been unhappy and was going to leave a bad review and a complaint with the Texas Attorney General offices as I believed there was potentially some price gouging taking place. We used Texas Tree Surgeons to trim two mature overgrown red oaks. They were one of three estimates we received. They were not the cheapest but very reasonable. They sent the arborist out to address one of our health questions. The process was easy. The guys that did the work were professional and thorough. When they were done they cleaned up completely and hauled away the trimmings. During the recent storms we lost very few branches. The men who actually do the work provide great service, but a disrespectful back-office person ruined my experience with Texas Tree Surgeons. Long story short, I thought I paid for all services, but Paul Douglass, one of their Tree Specialist, said I didn't. I had two large trees in my front yard that needed to bee trimmed. One was hanging too low over the street (my town was not pleased) and the other hung over the house and chimney. I was able to schedule an estimate quickly and the gentleman who came out, Russell, was on time and very knowledgeable. I was not only given an estimate for the work I wanted completed but also other trees on my property, just in case I was interested. The quote was fair and I was not pressured to add anything extra. I decided to get clean up the large trees. Due to the horrible tornado this past fall they were well booked and I was told up front it could take a few months. I was lucky to not be in a rush and just got my trees taken care of. Jose and his team were on time and very respectful and efficient. I was asked to review all the trees after and if I wanted anything cut back more. I did ask for some branches over a street to be cut back more and it was. Sadly their tree chipper died during my service. Everyone felt horrible and apologized over and over. They were able to move the branches onto my lawn and came back later in the day to remove them, feeling horrible it was not done sooner. The break was not their fault!
