UPDATE: After getting a lovely response from the management…read moreat this location through Google reviews, I decided to give them another try! My friend and I had lunch there yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised with this experience. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with the molé sauce and my friend ordered the shrimp tacos. The presentation of the enchiladas was impressive and the shrimp tacos looked tasty! I loved the sauce on my dish and the cheese/queso. I was full after 2 and a half of the enchiladas. It came with 4. My friend filled up on 2/3 of the tacos. Soni was our server and she did amazing! She was sure to keep our waters filled and was consistently checking in with us. The cleanliness of the restaurant and bathrooms were still impressive, despite a couple of crumbs on the table when we sat down. The chips and salsa were still my favorite part. I can be pretty picky when it comes to salsa but I love the texture and taste of this salsa. The chips always come out crispy and fresh! We were there at lunch time and the restaurant was not super busy. I'm glad I gave them another try! My husband and I love mexican food and were excited to try this location. I was very pleased with the environment when we walked in. The staff was welcoming and the restaurant was beautiful. I was excited to get seated in a booth immediately on a Friday at around 5. I will also say that the bathrooms were incredibly clean! My husband and I both ordered tacos, but we were disappointed to find out they were out of the Birria tacos. I was shocked because it seemed early enough on a Friday for them to not be running out of items. I ordered chicken tacos and was not impressed. They were very bland and didn't come with much to add to the chicken and tortilla although, the plate was presented beautifully. My husband ordered the fish tacos and while he did enjoy them, they were also quite underwhelming. The service was not exceptional. I had to ask for water multiple times and as I was once a waitress myself, I was always taught water should be served immediately. I also had to remind my waitress 2 times that we had ordered the queso. It didn't come out until we had already received our food. Despite this, the chips and salsa were actually quite tasty and kept us satisfied. The server did bring more chips when we were getting low and was attentive to my soda and my husbands beer. I did feel the waitress could've been more attentive, but she was very kind and cheerful. I feel it's also important to note that the restaurant did not seem to be busy. I was happy to find that for two orders of tacos, a beer, and a soda, the bill was roughly $50, plus a $10 tip. While my husband and I prefer other Mexican restaurants in the area, I am glad we got to experience El Habanero.

But the lady that came over to help I'll never forget her kindness, and her understanding in a time where I felt like I was on my death bed. I think she was a manager, but either way thank you. I wish in the moment I would have sounded more appreciative or expressed my gratitude more, but coupled with the embarrassment, how terrible I felt it really did escape my mind. I'm SO sorry, and thank you your kindness to me didn't go unnoticed. Food 10/10, service 100/10.

However, this review is about this past Monday, May 2026. My husband and I ordered the steak fajitas each and boy what a disappointment. The onions and bell peppers were sizzling but the steak was clearly reheated and warm at best.. Very dry. I would have sent them back but had taken a bit before I realized it and didn't feel right about sending them back. My husband was very disappointed as well his were the same, dry and reheated. Our waitress was one of the laziest I've ever seen. We always tip a minimum of 20% but not this time. One speed SLOW and a very I hate that I'm here attitude. She walked past our empty salsa bowl 3 times and NO they were not busy. Never took up any plates. She had maybe 3 tables at a time. Had to ask to fill up our water, (which they have the worst water around). We will not be back for years or maybe never. Sad, because they can do much better. We did not get sick, thank God. I always bring a some for my dog but we would not give it to her either.

Reynosa not only has you feeling like family but has you leaving feeling like you just left your grandmas home. I love the old school grocery store/hidden gem restaurant in the back theme. We've been here countless times and the man who owns the restaurant is always very pleasant and kind. The ladies in the kitchen are always very friendly and efficient. Pupusas are the best in Winchester and taste delicious. Tacos are great! The drinks are fresh and flavorful. I recommend the tamarindo! Our favorite is their chips and queso ! Be ready for the kick of spicy!

It doesn't have the most inviting exterior, and stepping inside, it feels a little unclear whether it's primarily a grocery store or a restaurant. It's a mix of both, which gives it a unique character, but it can also feel a bit unpolished. The interior felt dark overall, and the space seemed more oriented toward quick service than a sit down dining experience. They do have a drive thru, which is definitely convenient if you're just grabbing takeout. In fact, the whole setup felt very geared toward carryout rather than dining in. If you're looking for something fast and easy, that part is a plus. As for the food, I ordered the burrito deluxe, which came with two burritos but they were closer in size to tacos than what you'd expect from a traditional burrito. The portions were smaller than anticipated, and overall the food leaned heavily on salt, which took away from some of the flavor. The food wasn't bad , but it wasn't anything great They also don't offer complimentary chips and salsa, which is something many people expect at Mexican restaurants. On a positive note, the lady taking the order was very nice and welcoming, which made the experience better. Overall, Reynosa feels more like a convenient takeout spot than a full dine in restaurant. It may work well if you're in a rush and using the drive thru, but if you're looking for a more traditional sit down experience with ambiance and generous portions, it might not fully meet those expectations.

The ambience is lively without feeling cramped, which makes it an easy place to settle in after work. Happy Hour: Their happy hour is definitely the main draw. The large margaritas are priced extremely well, and when the mix is right, they're excellent. The only downside is consistency -- sometimes the drinks have a good balance of alcohol, and other times they taste more like lemonade and feel watered down. The appetizer prices are also great. We ordered the fried wings and Mexican rice; both were okay and edible, but not particularly memorable compared to other spots. Service: Service was generally good, but with only one bartender covering the entire bar, there were stretches where he disappeared or was tied up. Nothing terrible, just not the level of attentiveness you get at places with more staff behind the bar. Overall: Despite the inconsistencies, we'd come back. The happy hour prices are hard to beat, and when the drinks hit right, it's worth the visit.
