Had automatic deposits go in at 5:59a. Had 2 small pending charges processing at the same time. Zero grace. Hit with 2 $29.50 'convenience fees'. I wanted to share feedback regarding two recent encounters I had with Texell employees. Yesterday, Brittany Mosbaugh was kind enough to provide me with information on what was needed to open a business account. After leaving to gather the missing documents, I stopped by the nearest Texell location on South 31st around 4:00 p.m. Unfortunately, I was informed that no one at that location could assist with business accounts and that I would need to return to the main branch. When I informed that person , that was incorrect, she too proceeded to inform me that no one there could help me nor did she provide any other options. Today, I drove back to the main branch and Brittany took excellent care of me! Her professionalism and willingness to help reaffirmed my decision to remain a Texell member after yesterday's experience. She carefully walked me through each step, clearly explained how a business account works, and even went above and beyond by correcting an issue with my personal account and reprinting all of my cards. I had a wonderful experience with Christopher French, Loan officer with Texell Credit Union this week, refinancing my car loan. The dealership , Covert Bee Caves put me in a terrible financial bind. I purchased a low mileage pre owned car from them about a year and a half ago. On the way home the car started having problems. That dealership would NOT back me out of the deal and made me trade it in. I originally was in a great equity situation when i walked in their doors...then due to their complete disregard for me as a customer they put me upside down in another car. ( I had to use them to trade the broken down car in because nobody else would take that car in on trade.) It literally made me sick. I have been trying to refinance this car for a while. Nobody would do it because i was upside down until i spoke to Christopher at Texell. He knew it was a long shot so he personally took my loan to underwriting to tell them what happened to me and why im upside down and got the loan approved. My term was lowered and my rate lowered close to 3 points and i have a huge sense of relief. I highly recommend you give him a call if you are wanting to refinance your car or buy a new car! I have had an account with Texell for about a year & asked for assistance connecting an out-of-state credit union account so I could transfer a very large sum of money into my Texell account(s). I was given a 5-step list of instructions on a sticky note after asking for written instructions. Texell Credit Union has to be one of the worst bank/credit union experiences I have ever had. We have been members for multiple years. We recently moved to a different state, where there are no longer branch offices available, so we decided to move to a local credit union where we live. In the process, we transfer all of our funds out of our Texell, equating to a large sum of money between all accounts. Once the accounts were empty, we made sure that any subscriptions we had tied to the accounts would not be charged resulting in overdrafts. Well that is exactly what happened. Much like everyone else, we had multiple subscriptions tied to the accounts, we figured we'd just update existing subscriptions to our new accounts when the charges didn't go through on the Texell accounts, do to our account charges being turned off believing we would no be over drafted. In a period of two weeks. We had 8 different subscriptions attempt to do an autopay in Texell accounts. All 8 of those subscriptions went through, each one acquiring a $30 overdraft fee. Two weeks later we check the accounts. Negative hundreds of dollars, when no charge should have gone through in the first place, due to the protection we had in place (a setting that can be turned on online or in app). No phone call, email, or text to update us on the status of the negative accounts. We get on the phone with them and they tell us this protection doesn't work with subscriptions, unless I want to pay ANOTHER $30 fee to stop charges. Which is what we believed we had done in the first place. So now I am faced with paying hundreds of dollars in fee's before I can close the accounts. The customer service was terrible. There was no one I could speak to about these fee's. Just an "unreachable back office" that handles these fee's. We were good customers for many years. Never over drafted once. Now this. Do yourself a favor. Avoid what I have not. To Texell, if you want to make this right, I am here. read more

Let me start by saying I have banked with Texell since its inception 40 years ago. You would think that would be worth something. But no. I am treated like a third class citizen by Texell. I have paid off numerous auto, signature, and home equity loans with them over the years, all on time and in full with never a late payment. You would think that would be worth something. But no. Today, my overdraft protection of $1250 was pulled, with no warning, no explanation, no communication. When I called the bank and asked why, I was told it was "the system" that made that determination. No one could explain the REASON. As a result, my car payment to Ford Motor Credit bounced. We got a auto loan a few years back and the local dealer recommended this banking institution. It was the worst mistake of our life. Not only is their online banking atrocious but so is their customer service. They refuse to let you talk to a manager or supervisor. The managers or supervisors have an attitude when I finally did get a call back and their rates suck. We've done business with Texell for about ten years. Throughout that time we have had numerous car loans with them, personal loans, with a checking and savings account. Throughout that time, we've never had anything but exemplary service. We've never had anything "forced" on us, nor have we ever purchased anything on a loan that we didn't want or request. Online banking has generally worked as it should. Of course, as with any portal, there will be an occasional blip, but nothing that caused us any delay that cost us money. We can't say enough good about credit unions in general, but specifically, we're proud to call Texell a valued asset for our financial needs. read more

I came in today to open an account with the Texell branch located on 31st Street in Temple Texas. This was my first time visiting a Texell credit union. This location is very convenient to my domicile in Temple. I very recently (within the last week) relocated to Temple after living in Austin Texas for many years. My credit union in Austin was very inconvenient as I had to drive about 10 miles to conduct business. I was very excited to have a credit union within 2 miles of my domicile by changing over to Texell. Being a new resident in Temple, I am unfamiliar with local protocols and have no prior business dealing with any of the local financial institutions. Upon my arrival I was greeted with an unattended reception desk (no problem)..... they had a computerized sign in kiosk which I immediately utilized. After signing in I found a waiting area off to the side.... within minutes of sitting down a clerk approached the receptionist desk........ As she was sitting down, she stated that I needed to remove my hat or put it on backwards. Although I do understand the reasoning behind the request, It concerned that there was no greeting / no eye contact no hello how are you / no explanation of the request. Just her DEMANDING that I remove or turn my hat backwards. As a potential new customer, this was no doubt a VERY unpleasant experience. She was boisterous when making the request. No doubt everyone in the lobby heard her along with others in the cubbyholes dealing with other customers. It was quite embarrassing and I was taken back by the harsh treatment and lack of a pleasant customer service experience. This was in my first interaction with a customer service representative upon my initial entrance.... I wanted to just leave.... I decided to proceed with the process only to find 2 forms of ID were required to open an account (I only had 1 at the time). My first car loan experience was great. Home Equity loan and subsequent car loan experience have been terrible. Extremely slow process to get loan, once loan was acquired continued errors and issues. I don't recommend getting a loan through Texell. read more

So after writing this review I was promptly contacted by the branch manager on how this could be resolved. She was very polite and understanding. She was also willing to do what it took to help me. Her and I talked for about an hour or longer about leadership, team building, and other professional development actions that would help their bank. My words were pretty harsh but were warranted in my previous review. If they execute the topics that her and I discussed I think this bank will make better headway. I have to say that I'm impressed that she reached out to me and took the time to listen to the feedback. I did not choose them, I was buying a vehicle for my child and the auto dealer uses them and I wanted the least amount of time. I do not like taking time off work for paperwork. I wish I would have taken the time for USAA. I sent in proof of insurnce 3 times. Twice on the app and 1 time my kiddos agent faxed the entire policy. still wasn't good enough needed it via email. After that they removed the 3000.00 plus amount added to my loan. Then doubled my payment. I've was on hold over 30 min yesterday when a gentleman came on and could not explain why but assured me since I had never missed a payment and they would correct it albeit 24 hours. ok. another day gone and no change yet. I called for help with a minor issue and my wait time was 63 minutes. 63 MINUTES. They provide call back but even that took over 2 hours. I had to call off the meeting with the lender and the title company (their lending dept. is just as bad if you're wondering). Two weeks to be reimbursed for fraudulent activity on my debit card . Most banks reimburse the day of reporting the fraudulent activity and then do an investigation, but not texell, they do it backwards . Really! Not one or two suspicious charges , but 9 before I was able to contact texell and cancel the account . I guess they did not suspect nine charges from San Francisco as being a little odd. On top of that , the geniuses at texell let them keep draining my checking account and then pulled money from my savings account to cover the suspicions charges. Obviously, I do not feel very protected as a texell customer and do not feel valued as they say in all their adds . Someone mentioned this CU on the Tesla Houston facebook page for a low rate auto loan. They have an advertised 1.93% offer on 60 month loan. I applied and to my surprise, they declined my application with a good credit score and impeccable on time payment history that spans for over 15-20 years now. I literally got off of the phone with them and secured the loan via BOA at 2.99% within 5 minutes. Oh well, I guess they can't see a good client in the making when they smack them dead in the face. I came here to help my 17 year old son open his first account. The personnel were very nice and friendly. After opening the account it became for obvious what we got ourselves into. If you use your debit card as a debit card, Texell will charge $1.50 for each transaction. This is in addition to any charges the ATM will charge. Second, if you use your debit card as a credit card but attempt to purchase something which exceeds your current bank balance, then the charge is denied. You would of course expect this, the purchase is not approved. But what I didn't expect is that Texell charges you $29 for each of these attempts. This is true even though the charge was never processed due to insufficient fund. We tried to close the account but they would not let us, they said we had to wait 7 business days. I can promise you we will close it as soon as they let us. This is predatory and I am surprised it is legal. read more

I've tried 4x now to resolve the current of many issues I've had and the latest incident being a direct deposit check that should have been deposited into our account and specifically said to be deposited was opened and put toward an open credit card with Texell (those payments are made from a different acct, not the joint acct). We have called 4x since it happened and been reassured that the adjustment would be done and send by the end of the business day every day. It's still not there and after leaving a vm for the Branch mgr and having the cs rep email him I have yet to receive a call back from him. The poor gals I spoke with today were just repetitive in their script and could not even understand the issue. Wells Fargo, BOA, Chase, etc. treat their customers far better than Texell. read more

This is the worst experience with a loan I have ever had. First off they open checking and savings accounts when you finance a vehicle with them. Then they tell you to transfer money from your bank into these accounts to pay your bill days ahead of due date of your loan. Or you can pay almost $10 dollars extra to pay on their app. RIDICULOUS!! Then they send additional forms for some accidental life insurance for the loan. I signed thinking I would receive a bill so I could pay it but I never received anything. Well today I received a collection letter from a collection agency for an overdraft in my savings account at Texell. I called and they say its for the accidental life insurance I signed up for. The suppossed manager I spoke with was no help and pretty much told me its my problem. REALLY!! How am I suppossed to know this is the method of paying this scam of accidental life insurance without being told or receiving a bill until its in collections and hurts my perfect credit. Seems they are scam artist and will do whatever it takes to charge outrageous fees and also hurt your credit. I will pay this stupid "overdraft" scam to hopefully repair the damge they have done and I will refinance my truck at a reputable bank. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!! read more

I purchased some engine parts from a business on Tennessee on July 2020 and was supposed to get my parts on 4 to 6 weeks. Had to put a down payment for 4 thousand dollars so O used my Textell card for payment. After 6 weeks of waiting and getting the run around I decided that I was not going to get the parts so I called Texell to dispute the charges. I told them everything that happened and had records of all the phone calls to Tennessee. They told me I waited to long to do anything and wouldn't help me so I paid my card down under the 4 thousand dollars and me and my wife took all our money out of Textell and moved it to another bank. Also got our loan changed over. I was taken to court and my credit was ruined as well. I got a judgement against me for 4212.18 plus court costs and now I guess we have to pay it. I also had other issues with my debit card for some charges that I didn't make and nothing was done. I have been contacting the Belton branch for over a month and I cannot get anyone to return my calls or emails. I dropped off very important documents just to later find out they lost them! This was after numerous calls. When I do attempt to get a hold of someone I am being told that my message will be passed on. However, I keep getting the run around trying to get a branch manager, Tish Cotham to return my calls as I have left her voicemails to her direct line. I would assume the branch manager would take this matter serious as she would not want her branch to be portrayed as a location who does not value the members.
