We have applied several times for small personal loans to help build credit and to consolidate bills. We have never received help with this credit union. They will however send text and try to call when they notice our account balance staying at a I guess a more desirable level for us to pick up car insurance or life insurance. This credit union has never been helpful for our family to build anything. There is no loyalty for long term stable customers! Time to move my money elsewhere after over 17 years! In my experience, they are no different than a greedy bank. There were at least 2 occasions where I was embarrassed at the grocery store because my transaction wouldn't go through because " it seemed suspicious ", but once covid hit and I wasn't getting direct deposits for about 2 months, they decided to approve a transaction to some entity, then charge me an overdraft fee because the money wasn't there...why wouldn't the place I've never done business with look suspicious asking for money when I haven't had any for months, but the grocery store i always shopped at on payday does. Also, they are VERY good for holding your payroll direct deposit until 7-8am, but charging overdraft "courtesy fees" for transactions they decided to post between midnight and 6am the same day,while actually showing you that you have a deposit pending on that same day! My dumb a** got hit about 4 times before I realized what was happening, but then I called and they explained to me that they don't release the direct deposit until the time my job told them. My payroll manager said they don't give a specific time and its at my bank's discretion, and they actually send the deposits out on Wednesday, and some employees including herself have their payments available no later than Thursday. Please beware! After they racked up a mysterious $47 payment to somewhere I've never heard of, plus $29.50 as a courtesy fee and $15 for something called a withdrawal fee, somehow suddenly my account needs attention in 10days or it will be automatically closed. I got the only notice/communication in the mail on the 9th day,at the end of the day when the mail arrives. I was still able to check my account that day and see that they wanted $106 but the amounts they showed didn't add up to this, however there was $1800 irs stimulus deposit pending until 1/4. The next day on 12/31 I am unable to login and my account credentials don't work anymore. Now I bank with Citizens Bank in Georgia and Capital One. read more

My husband had two loans with them--a personal and an auto loan--and they charged him over a THOUSAND dollars in fees that were not allowed based on his contract with them! I am very familiar with the standard of customer service Texell provides. Today I tried to co tact them in reference to my son's account whom is currently serving in Iraq. I understand the policy but when I asked to speak to a Supervisor 1. to go above her 2. cause she was being rude, she put me on hold and then hung up on me. This was uncalled for and because of the unprofessionalism my son will be closing his account to another bank, that understand Military needs. read more

Used to have good rates and bad service. Since they raised my cc interest rate- now it's bad rates- bad service. My credit score goes up and they add to my interest rate. Tried calling but after going thru their maze of prompts- I'm 15th in line and already been holding over 10 minutes. If you like headaches- use Texell. This was once a good and trustworthy establishment. I don't know what has happened in the last year but the people have become extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. They do not honor the terms in the agreement you sign with them and offer nothing but half-hearted excuses when trying to resolve an issue. I have spent years with this bank, and it is only recently that they have gone down hill. After having my identity stolen while I was out of town, I called Texell and informed the unconcerned worker there about the issue...yes he shut the debit card down but meanwhile I have a million things trying to go through the account...no solution offered.. meanwhile I had overdraft charges and no compassion from them. As of today noone has even ask about the police report that they made clear I needed but made sure they contact me about the overdraft fees...Texell has made the entire credit union experience horrible. Don't kid your self about Texell being in a partnership with you and your money. I've been a credit union member for 35 years. On the rare occasion that my account has found itself in a shortage, my other credit union has reached out via mail, email or email to notify me and absolutely sent me a copy of any checks posted as NSF. Fees were imposed but there was notice given so that the account could be made whole within a reasonable time. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN AT TEXELL - no notice, no letter, no contact but they will deduct $29.50 for every transaction presented. This happened over a 6 week time frame. Way too many individuals slamming this place because they can't read a sign posted before you even enter or how they are ridiculous when managing their own money, so it MUST be the banks fault.....except it isn't even a bank. It is a Credit Union. Seperate rules and regulations and insured more per depositer than a bank, better rates for all financial transactions they offer compared to banks. Communication is key as they really offer that feeling of you being a neighbor and they are there to help you out. I have been a member for over 12 years and have never had issues. They approved me for an auto loan when banks wouldn't! The service warranty can be declined, but only an idiot would be that stupid. They are legally only able to offer there services to "members", so, yeah, you need an account with them. All those papers you sign? They explain exactly how and what needs to be done for everything. The insurance on the loan protects your family and them (they are a business and you are shocked that they need to be profitable?) in the case of your death and again, how it works is explained by the loan officer and the paperwork you signed. Oh, you didn't read it? Yeah, that's the credit unions fault as well. I could go on and on, but pointing out the fact that education does not equal intelligence will be completely lost on those who do not possess it. If you have common sense, use Texell Credit Union. If you stated internally within your head, upon reading that last sentence, then you do not have common sense (hint: it wasn't a question and you answered it) and you should probably just hide your money in a coffee can buried in the backyard.....of your neighbor's house. read more

I was a customer with Texell for over 10 years, got an over draft, for .03 cents was charge $2.00 by anfor being $.03other bank for withdrawal then charged $ 1.47 by Texell plus $29.00 for being $.03 overdrawn. so they closed my account. Rip off ! new way to scam customers out of their money. read more

I have banked with Texell for years. I used to love everything about the bank from the service to all of the employees. However, since it has expanded it seems that the services offered have not quite caught up! One thing that would really make this bank great is reversing foreign ATM fees. If you withdrawal from a foreign ATM you get charged that banks foreign fee AND Texell charges you $1.50. So, if you are okay with being charged $5 to take out $20 from a foreign ATM, then go for it! read more

This credit union is the worst bank I have EVER dealt with EVER!!! I opened a auto loan with them not even a year ago and since day one there have been nothing but issues. They always blame "The System" and no one takes responsibility for anything. Even managers are useless and their customer service is trash. At this point I was put into collections for a $80 charge they made to an account that I didn't even know I had opened. The reply to this was "the accounts (they open a savings and a checking account) are opened automatically when you open a auto loan". I paid the stupid amount they stated that I owed and went along my way. Now every month I am getting phone calls telling me that my payment is late when it is supposed to be a recurring payment that is processed. This institution is GARBAGE!!!!! Even if your rate elsewhere is higher STAY AWAY!!!!! This is not worth the hassle and you will regret it. At this point I have had to pay fees that I should not have had to pay due to their errors and my credit has taken a huge hit again due to their errors. Never again will I ever do business with Texell and I will be looking to refinance through another lender. read more
