TG Cigar is a cute cigar shop in DC. It's close to my beloved Unconventional Diner and although I've passed it many of times, I had not visited until our Sunday Funday. My Big Spoon loves to smoke cigars so like a real life magnet wherever he goes, I'm there, stuck to him! Service was absolutely wonderful, thanks to the front desk lady for allowing me to use her IPhone charger. A little slow with bar and food service but only one bartender/server was working. She did a commendable job doing it alone. My drink was perfect and our pizza was great! The space is small so you definitely smell when you come out. Don't wear anything you love love or anything expensive as you'll have to immediately clean whatever you have on. Ladies, keep real furs at home, or anything designer at home. Wear your lounge wear, put a hat on, and/or throw your hair in a ponytail. Or if you have long money, wear that expensive stuff just know you will need to clean it, ASAP! So glad that we popped into TG Cigar on Friday night - it was exactly the vibe we were looking for! After a dinner near the Convention Center, we were looking for a chill spot for drinks and possibly a cigar. TG will now be our go-to! It was a bit unassuming when you walk in, with a wide selection of cigars in the front and a number of leather chairs where people were lounging. Up the stairs offered a different vibe as it was more dimly lit, had TVs playing sports, a long bar, high top tables, and a number of leather chairs that made you feel like royalty. Seating is first come-first served although staff was great about moving people along and helping you anticipate when tables might be opening. Past the lounge was a patio that provided some fresher air. Staff were friendly, quick, and helpful with the selections. Prices were reasonable. Everyone there was friendly and sparking up conversation or willing to share tables of things were crowded. While we didn't partake, it was great to know that they also offered hookah and food. TG was well worth the visit and truly brought people together to chill and have a good time. We will be back! read more

My friend visited me and she's into Cigar and TG has great reviews so we decided to check it out. Please bring your grown and sexy with you because this place has it. The vibe is very classy, sophisticated and grown. There was a piano player...it doesn't get more elegant. She did a great job. My friend and I sat in big comfy leather chairs, off to the side, really just enjoying the vibe and atmosphere. Had a flight of Whiskey with our cigar to savor the full experience. Eventually we decided to order some food, some hot wings but I really was not a fan. The wings were cooked good but the sauce was not giving buffalo. What a gem of a place near the conference center. Now, obviously, you need to be cool with smoking to enjoy this place. And while I'm not a smoker, I do enjoy cigars a few times a year. And now I've found my go-to spot to hit my craving. First, the selection is good. It's not the biggest collection I've seen, but they have all the hits and some fun brands. I didn't have a lighter or cutter on me, and they gladly cut and lit it up. But what makes this place special is its ambiance and the extras. Typically, a cigar store has a few epically smoky couches, some soda or bottled water, and Netflix or sports radio on in the background. You'll come home smelling like the cigars of people past. I'm not complaining (I've smoked happily many times in this kind of environment). But here, they have a long and luxurious bar with some top notch local and hard to find spirits and a decent beer selection. There are nice tables and seating that doesn't look like it's been through 1,000 cigars a bit away from the bar. Lots of TVs and a motivated wait staff. This is definitely a higher end experience for a reasonable price. I also found the regulars welcoming and talkative (which is definitely not usual at cigar bars). I waited 15min for it and the lady that took order kept going to the back and grabbing others orders.I don't know if they didn't want to serve me since I was on my laptop working. Before this I came twice and ordered food and extra side of sauce. But this time I got charged for extra sauce (keptchup). I didn't know there's an extra charge for sauce that comes in a bottle. I am updating my review from a year ago....I am giving 2 because they DO deserve some credit. Because up until yesterday August 19, 2023 I had not had a bad experience at this establishment. I was directed to this establishment by people that frequently spend time here. Like 3-4 days a week. I go to this specific cigar establishment when I visit family and friends in the DMV area. I have gone to Vitola 121, Petworth, Shelly's, and Casa de Monticristo. However this place was more convenient and a great central place to meet up. I spent Aug 16-20 in the area and went here 4 days consecutively. Spending on my card first 3 days then last day cash purchases to spend funds I had left over. Yesterday upon arrival at 7pm we were met with bad attitudes and rude behavior. This is immediately upon arrival. Eyes rolling. Sucking of teeth. Etc. There were 4 of us that arrived first, we ordered wine (2) and a round of water (4) from one waitress and paid in cash to a totally different waitress. The 2nd waitress asked did we want to see a menu we said "not at the moment". We were waiting for our 5th person who was a few minutes away. She lives in the area. Literally was there within 15 mins. We laughed and talked a minute. One person in the group was starving so she ordered the sliders and another water (paying in cash) and to preface this story this friend does NOT drink. Not wine. Not alcohol. Not soda. Only water. She ordered from one person and another brought it over and took the payment. As my friend and I prepared to walk towards the front the gentleman that manages the place (they call him B) came towards our table after hearing from waitresses that we were not spending money. He didn't see a tab in the system and the ladies were telling him no money was being spent. He said you have to spend at least $100 to have one of the larger seating areas with the more comfortable chairs. I had a convo with him about this. I broke down what had been ordered and paid for up to that point (with cash). My 2 glasses of wine were almost $40 (Sauvignon blanc). I believe they were $17 or $18 each. The other 2 glasses ordered by my cousin was about the same. Sliders...not sure because I hadn't looked at the menu at this point. But I'm sure it was at least $20. So u see where this is going? We were already at $100 paying in cash. And everyone had not ordered their dinner. I inquired was the issue we paid in cash? Or what? He cldnt really say. Only explained he didn't find a tab. Well u won't find one if we r paying in cash. So being the group that we are we backtracked and replayed things from the start. We all agreed that because we were women in a male dominated arena they wanted those seats for male customers that one waitress attempted to move us from the seats to give to them. She was met with a resounding NO. Last group of 8 men needed a table and they tried it again. With another NO. I was not leaving until I finished my cigar and wine which were paid for. My friend and cousins all left before me because of the rude and unprofessional behavior. I will never spend a dime in this place again. There are too many other options to give my money away......I refuse to pay someone to treat me in a manner that is not conducive to how I wish to be treated. I expect the pricing to be higher etc. because they are near the convention ctr and they can charge that and get that price. The stay open late which is awesome. But the staff needs better training on how to treat patrons. Side note: other foods ordered after the sliders were Thai chili wings, loaded mini baked potatoes, shrimp skewers and beef tips. Overpriced, and money grubbing staff. First off, the cigars are 20-40% more expensive then at other nearby lounges. The cigar shop has solid selection, but I have gotten stale sticks from them. What makes this place 1 star is the bar. To even go back to the bar, they force you to buy one of their overpriced cigars. Then when you are back there, you look at the drinks menu and see that a Tito's vodka is $24, and every other "cheap" drink is $24+. The ladies who work as waitresses will hound you to buy stuff, and if you don't buy at least $100 worth of stuff they tell you that their policy is to have you spend at least $100 if you want to be able to sit there. So I've been twice now, and here are my results: The downstairs crew that deals with cigars is friendly and willing to help, although their cigar knowledge is lacking. If I ask you about a bold cigar, please know not to give me a mild one as a suggestion. Also, the cigar I did choose was stale. The bartenders are complete trash. The women are not attentive unless you're spending a certain amount, and even then, they are barely any better. I ask for water before I ordered a drink and I literally never even got the water. The menu says it comes with rice but my rice did not come. There was 8 broccoli florets, 5 red bell pepper triangles and 4 carrot sticks. The flavor was nice but not $24 nice. So I figured out the order was a side of veggies which explained the portion. Suggestion: a lemon drop paired with a chocolate cigar. This is a nice smooth experience. I also ordered the nachos. It was worth it given the line of lemon drops I ingested. A friend had the short ribs and fries. The meat fell off the bone and the fries were very tasty. If nothing else you can depend on the fries. Popped in here with friends Sunday afternoon! One of them is a Cigar Lover so clearly TG Cigar was the perfect find for us. Upon arrival there wasn't space for 3 of us to be seated at the bar or at the tables. After finding a waitress we explained we needed space for 3 and she was nice enough to ask a patron at the bar to move down one. He obliged allowing us 3 to sit at the bar. My friend purchased a few cigars to smoke... I decided to sip on a TG Tini (very good, highly recommend) & ordered the Thai wings. The wings were sooooo good and flavorful (9pc for $18). I was visiting DC and planned a stop into TG Cigar as a surprise to my companion. I had only smoked once before and was worried about how smoky the establishment would be. First, let me say, I was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and chill vibe. The moment you walk in the door we were greeted by 4 well dressed more seasoned men, which hit different. I instantly felt at home, even though it was my first time visiting. The gentleman who helped us with our cigars helped me with my cigar as I wanted something mild and sweet; the servers were attentive, the food was amazingly good, I didn't expect such quality at a cigar lounge and the overall atmosphere, seating, decor, and vibe of the place was something I can't stop talking about. Was it smokey, of course, it's a cigar lounge but it was much better than what I expected. The vents were doing their thing and you could see the smoke as it wafted up toward the vent(s). Plus, they have an outdoor seating area that was open until midnight. If I ever go back to DC, this would definitely be one of my stops. Both my companion and I thought it was the best part of the trip, so unexpected. TG Cigar, you knocked it out of the park, keep doing what you're doing; we need more establishments like yours. read more

This is an interesting place. It's a cigar shop when you enter and then a bar/restaurant area towards the back. You have to purchase cigars at the store and then can bring them up with you. The cigar selection is pretty good and the bar is ok. It's owned by an Ethiopian woman which I think is cool. The bar service was meh. Lots of young Ethiopian girls who were more interested in chatting amongst themselves and playing on their phones. I prefer Shelly's Backroom. read more

Their cigar selection is decent - all the heavy hitters available (Placencia, Padron, My Father, etc.) and there is a person up front who provides recommendations based off what kind of smoke you're looking for. The lounge chairs are extremely comfortable, but the main area isn't that big. There is an outdoor area as well with heat lamps but they closed it down by time we got there around 10:30.
