Don't go there on a Friday or Saturday night. TG Cigar It's basically a house that's been converted into a Cigar bar. When you come in "they make" you purchase one of their crappy Cigars. I bring my own stick so charge customers a cover charge rather than to have them buy one their stale sticks. Moreover, the guy that made me purchase one of their crappy cigar did it in a rude kind of way (this happened last Friday 5/9/2025) I felt handled. The people that were in cigar bar seemed rude and unfriendly. I felt un-welcomed. Plain and simple the place is way too small to call itself a cigar bar. DC needs more options to smoke Cigars than what's available now. While I want to support this female owned cigar bar she needs to purchase more space and get younger and more welcoming staff. read more

Poor customer service! I've been there a few times. Initially when first opened they were nice with good service but now that they've gotten busy service has deteriorated. They close at 3am but at 2:45am the server literally takes my half glass drink from in front of me indicating they're closed and starts clearing the table. I asked to just finish my drink but she refused. I still had 15 minutes and with no warning and against my protect my drink was taken. Additionally, upon service no napkins to table and they operate as if it's self service despite having waitresses/hosts. This isn't how TG's was when first opened. Y'all need to do better. We try to encourage supporting black business but with service like this I'll have to explore other options. read more

The bar: it has porter on tap and a great selection of scotches - need I say more? I reached out to this establishment to inquire as to whether or not they carried a specific stick and needless to say the person who answered the phone was by far the rudest person I have spoken to in quite some time. It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review, and even though this location is listed as the only location in DC that carries this particular stick, I would not dare spend a dime of my money here based off of the horrible customer service I received over the phone. Was visiting DC for a few days and was looking for a cigar lounge near the hotel I was staying at. I found this gem, only a two minute walk from my hotel. So I decided to give it a try and wasn't disappointed at all. The ambience was nice, plenty of whiskey/bourbon selections and etc. Most cigar lounges where I'm from and visited in different states are smoke filled due to poor ventilation or no ventilation, that wasn't the case here, you wouldn't know you were in a cigar lounge. The staff were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The cigar selections were plentiful, I'm a Arturo Fuente snob and they had by far the best selection of his brand I've ever seen. I've been here a few times service is not personable, borderline unprofessional. Waitress (Addis) messed up our order, didn't write anything down. Never brought my friends ranch dressing. Forgot my shrimp and didn't check back until the kitchen was closed. No apology. Then gave us the check without the gratuity added. We split the bill, then get another bill with gratuity. DON'T GO HERE!!!This is not a good establishment. I bought a cigar, ordered three drinks, and ordered food, and they still treated me as if I wasn't spending enough money. I asked for a glass of water to go along with my food and beers and the waitresses treated me like I was being an inconvenient bother. Their food is ridiculously priced. Tacos were $24. This was one of the WORST experiences I've had in my 18 years of living in DC. I was completely aware that this place was going to close for the night at 3am. My friends and I came into the location at 2:35am and we were told that we only had until 3am, which was fine. We went to the bar to have a drink, ordered drinks that were tasty, and we were having a great time. Then st 2:57am the security officer came up to us and told us that we needed to quickly finish our drinks and leave because they close at 3am. We started drinking faster so we could leave on time and they continued to harass us. One of the managers said to the security officer, "You can grab their glasses because they should no longer be here." Mind you, the time had just turned 3:00am because I was keenly aware of the time since they had been asking for our glasses since 5 minutes before they closed. As a Black woman I have never felt more antagonized than I felt at this establishment. It truly reminded me of racist police who harass Black people when they are only doing their best to comply with the rules. If I were you, (and especially a Black person) I would NEVER patronize this establishment. It's deplorable the way they treat their customers. read more

I have stopped by TG Cigar a few times. My favorite restaurant in town is next door. So I have had a moment to wait, such as yesterday when I was meeting my wife. The Convention Center is across the street, and perhaps you have business there. I recommend the place. I know some disapprove of tobacco, and they may frown upon my endorsement here. I indulge rarely. I just like to relax and have a smoke now and then though. I have read the story of the proprietor. I'm glad to support her. An Ethiopian immigrant who neither smokes nor drinks, she worked service jobs while coming up with a business plan as an entrepreneur. Some might pooh pooh the American Dream. I believe in it. As I walk head towards the bar the owner stops me and starts tell me I need to buy a cigar every time I come in her lounge. I went here for the first time on a Thursday (before a fed holiday) maybe an hour or two before closing with a couple girlfriends who had been before. I really enjoyed the spot. The vibe is very chill with a diverse age range. My friends saw guys they knew. So, the venue probably has regulars. It was semi-crowded. People were friendly and conversational. One thing I really liked is that the ratio of men to women was like 4 to 1. Lol. Not surprising for a cigar bar. Needless to say, the men were very welcoming--offering their seats and offering to purchase drinks. Salute to the sister who owns this spot. This is a fabulous atmosphere here in the heart of DC. We frequent many cigar bars when traveling and this is by far one of the best. Easily top 2 or 3. The ventilation grabs the smoke, disposes of it and sends back a pleasant aroma of something that tickles my nose hairs. The place is intimate and cozy and the staff is pleasant and helpful.
