Then I explained that I was two and a half hours north of them and I had found a small clinic just 5 minutes from my house, as the treatment I needed would have required two treatments a day for six weeks. Suddenly, the tone changed, as did their body language. They told me if I went to the local clinic I was risking my life and would more then likely have a far less chance of recovering. Like they had a magic treatment of some sort. They tried their best to scare the hell out of me in plain English. While in fact I had noted the radiation machine they had and compared it to my local clinics. They had the very same machine and plan as my local clinic right in Lecanto Fl. I completed my 6 weeks of treatment and while it was rough, it did in fact help me. it's been 7 years. I would not recommend Moffitt at all for any type of cancer treatment. They didn't care about me or my situation. All they cared about was their numbers and studies. I love my Doctor. Dr Joey Bennitt. they did a great job and saved my life. If you get diagnosed with cancer, take a minute to really think about what will be the easiest for you and your family. these small clinics are a lot more personal and you see the same people every day during your treatment, while at Moffitt you never see the same people twice and they seem to be taking advantage of your diagnoses and will use it to their advantage to have you open your check book and say do what ever it takes. Truthfully, all the treatment facilities are the same and will do the exact same thing to help you. Don't fall for their scam. 7 years doing fine!

When I arrived, the only cost disclosed to me was $16 per pair of compression socks. At my follow-up appointment, I specifically asked the front desk if there were any outstanding issues or balances. I was told, "Yes, everything is good." Imagine my shock when, the following week, I received a bill for $1,000 out-of-pocket. This is absolutely unacceptable. The issue here is not that I am unaware of how insurance or copays work; the issue is that this office failed to perform the most basic duty of a medical provider: transparency. They had three weeks during the approval process, the day of the procedure, and the follow-up appointment to provide a clear estimate of my patient responsibility. They never disclosed these costs, nor did they provide me with the option to decide if I could afford this procedure or if I needed to wait until I had the funds. By failing to provide a pre-operation cost estimate despite having multiple opportunities to do so, they robbed me of the ability to make an informed financial decision. I paid both statement bills in full when I received them. They will not give me a refund for the over payment. Now, after more than 6 months after the date of my procedure, they sent me a bill for a day they said they had neglected to charge me. They have ignored the fact that I had already double paid $ because of being charged for the same procedure on the same date on two separate statements. Keep proof of every appointment, procedure and $ transactions.
