There are costume contests for age groups and even dogs. Vendors are there, a few good trucks, and some nice photo ops. There's also a movie being projected and a Halloween maze. I believe see can vote for the best decorated trunk. Some were pretty awesome. The kids love it! And we feel safer with the treats that are passed out to the children. Note that you should be there early so you don't have to wait in line for too long. However, the line goes fairly constant. Only stalling when there are photos taken. She provided me with information and answered all my questions BUT when she introduced me to her supervisor, everything changed. I made it clear. I was just there to learn but the supervisor, Michael lost his temper and started cussing me out, dropping the F bomb telling me I was wasting his time demanding I'd return home to bring all proper documents. He didn't let me finish my sentences or give me enough time to think. He didn't bother asking me if I was busy that day or if I had any plans he looked physically tired And droopy, like he was high on medication. He was really unprofessional and demanding for someone who wasn't even my boss. He insisted someone from the office drive me home and wait for me as I gather all my documents at home not knowing that I don't know where I keep my documents. I felt immense pressure from him, and I really truly feel like he didn't have my best interest in mind. He was a manipulative and a liar as he started stating that I looked like I physically didn't want to be there from the beginning and that I came in already hostile, which is completely untrue and manipulative. This man managed to spike up my blood level almost instantly with his hostility. And the cherry on top of his unprofessionalism is when I got up to give him a handshake so I can leave and he had his fist bumped instead and I just looked at his hand like it was a joke. He complimented me to undo some of the bad behavior he's already done, but the damage was already done. I've worked plenty of jobs in my life and had plenty of bosses and I can tell this man named Micheal is a sad pathetic old man. That female soldier who helped me should be the supervisor instead not this Micheal. If his behavior and his attitude is a representation of the US military. Then I have no hope or faith in this institution.

For example, they have a co-working space for entrepreneurs (how I learned of their existence in the first place). Those that sign up as a member of coworking get de-facto membership in the Chamber, meaning that they get to attend Chamber events without paying the non-member price. For 30% of women who experience abuse, the first incident occurs during pregnancy. As many as 324,000 women each year experience intimate partner violence during their pregnancy. Violence against women costs companies $72.8 million annually due to lost productivity. 74% of employed battered women were harassed by their partner while they were at work. Ninety-four percent of the offenders in murder-suicides were male. Seventy-four percent of all murder-suicides involved an intimate partner(spouse, common-law spouse, ex-spouse, or boyfriend/girlfriend). Of these, 96 percent were females killed by their intimate partners. Most murder-suicides with three or more victims involved a "family annihilator" -- a subcategory of intimate partner murder-suicide.Family annihilators are murderers who kill not only their wives/girlfriends and children, but often other family members as well,before killing themselves. I was born and raised in Highland Park (HLP). Growing up it was a rough neighborhood. In recent…read moreyears things have changed. Gentrification happened. Now the area has nice restaurants, trendy shops, and hip bars. Back in the day there was only one bar on Figueroa. Now there are 8 that I can think of at the top of my head. There was a time when no one had ever heard of HLP. Now when I mention it they say, "I know that place. Such & such is there!" Located 10 miles from Downtown LA and adjacent to South Pasadena, HLP was one of the first subdivisions of Los Angeles. The neighborhood is 3.42 sq miles and Paleo-Indians were the first inhabitants. In 1895 it was annexed to Los Angeles and become home to aspiring artists in the early 20th century. Lovely Victorian and Craftsman homes were everywhere. Developers started tearing them down until the city stepped in and declared the neighborhood historic. (Some of these homes are preserved at Heritage Square Museum.) Now, when a business is sold the original sign must remain, which is why you'll see the El Arco Iris sign at Barcade's location. The few Victorian homes that are remaining and historic buildings have become Historic Cultural Monuments and can no longer be torn down and house remodels must follow strict design plans. Notable people have called HLP home: Maggie Baird, Jackie Beat, Beck, Jackson Browne, Billie Eilish, Finneas O'Connell, Zach de la Rocha, & Diane Keaton. A number of famous movies have been shot here: Reservoir Dogs, Cyrus, Gangster Squad, Yes Man - to name a few. It is also home to Chicken Boy. Believe it or not, he has his own National Day, September 1st. Anyway, HLP is my hometown. I'm grateful it's safe to walk around the neighborhood now. I'm grateful there are a number of cool shops, restaurants, & bars that I can go to. I'm very grateful my grandfather left me his home, which he bought in the '70s, because there is no way I could afford to buy a house in this neighborhood now.
