Thai Garden has long been our favorite Thai restaurant in the area, and I've previously given them five-star reviews. On this recent visit, the food was still very good. We ordered beef satay, Thai fried rice, duck chili basil, and chicken red curry. I also had a bowl of Tom Yum soup, which was excellent -- fresh ingredients, tasty, spicy, and refreshing. Everything was flavorful and well prepared as usual. We also had a bottle of Singha beer and Thai green iced tea -- both great, and the imported Thai beer here is still very reasonably priced at $5.95. The restaurant was busy during our visit, which is usually a good sign. A couple things caught us off guard this time. We asked for shrimp crackers to snack on before the food arrived -- something they used to give complimentary -- and later noticed a $5 charge for them on the bill. There was also a 3% credit card fee added with no mention of it beforehand. If costs are rising and adjustments are needed, that's understandable. Just be transparent about it so customers aren't surprised when the bill arrives. Thai Garden is what's considered a hidden gem! Doesn't seem like much from the outside nor the inside. Just another Thai restaurant right? With that being said, food was beyond amazing! Makes me upset it took me this long to drop by! Wontons were more like Shumai but no complaints, curry puffs tasted like it was from an Indian restaurant which only means the taste was on point. The chive dumplings?! Bro... don't sleep on these!! They were so effin gooood! YES SO DAMN GOOD. Green curry is always my favorite and I'm glad they didn't disappoint. Broth was spicy, sweet and creamy. Salmon was cooked perfectly and portion size pretty big. Drunken noodles had a nice chew to them, def wasn't over cooked. Came here for a quick dinner before heading to the movies and service was quick / seamless. They are on the busy main road but parking lot has plenty of spots. Menu had a ton of options and was a bit overwhelming but many options looked very good. I went with classic pad thai and was not disappointed. The serving is plentiful, full of flavor , and rice/ noodles had great texture. Not the fanciest of aesthetics, feels more homey and coozy, with not many decorations or flashy signs. But have to appreciate its simplicity - i was a huge fan of the duck plates tho haha! read more

I was excited to try this restaurant given the good reviews, but after I finished my meal, it left me scratching my head. The food was very mediocre. I've had authentic Thai food before and this certainly ain't it. I ordered a Gai Yang, Pad See Ew, Green Curry, and Prawn rolls. The curry and prawn rolls were fine. Where it completely fell apart for me were the Gai Yang and Pad See Ew. Let's start with the Pad See Ew first. This is one of the most common dishes you will find at a Thai restaurant. It's not a particularly difficult dish to make. So it's really baffling how a restaurant with such good reviews can screw up this dish so bad. It was very bland and had no flavor. The noodles were dry and the beef was overcooked and tough. Zucchini, carrots, and western broccoli do not belong in this dish. They should have used Chinese broccoli instead. It simply did not taste good. As for the Gai Yang, the authentic recipes calls for large chicken pieces (bones included) cooked over a grill and served with dipping sauce. The draw of the dish is the slightly charred flavor of the chicken. What I got instead was a few pieces of pan-seared chicken breasts served on a bed of vegetables? What? That's not Gai Yang at all. read more

The foods bland, they use the lowest quality meat they can possibly find. If they could feed you garbage they would. They're super cheap, the drinks aren't cold. They will also literally always try to add on a dollar to the prices of the food. They will sneak in hidden charges and get "confused" when asked about it. A-OK is what sums up my take on this place. I only order Pad Kee Mao at Thai restaurants so I've had my fair share of this dish. The restaurant itself was on the smaller side but I liked that it was quaint and cozy. The interior decor was adorned with many Thai cultural pieces which kind of transported you into a Thailandesque ambience. They did a great job. I've never had this type of Pad Kee Mao before. Think of Pad Kee Mao as Pad See Ew's sister. It's sweeter with a hint of spice (in some places you can choose your spice level). Pad Kee Mao is made with flat rice noodles mixed with basil, mixed peppers/chili and sometimes even onions with your choice of meat. Thai Garden had a small little twist on this dish. You can't tell from my picture but the dish was topped with a thick sweet sauce that wasn't spicy at all. It was also mixed with various vegetables. With all the vegetables filling up the dish, it made it easier for them to include less meat. I was mildly disappointed at the fact that I didn't get much beef. The few pieces of beef I did get were a little tough but manageable. Not the best Pad Keeo Mao I've ever had but it wasn't a complete disappointment. No surprise I came with one of my co-workers to grab lunch and we left so incredibly full and satisfied! For starters, they bring you some shrimp flavored chips to dip in some peanut tasting sauce...so good! I actually prefer it without the sauce but to each its own. For lunch, I got the Spicy Stir Fried Rice with Chicken and she got the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken. Both came with a salad and it was so incredibly good! My Spicy Rice had enough of a kick to it where I didn't feel the need to drench it in additionally spicy sauce even though I had asked for some on the side lol It was definitely a good portion and did I mentioned that we paid less than $20 for both of our meals?! Never had Thai cooking? Take the plunge at Thai Garden located in Orangeburg New York! Highly rated, we stumbled upon this tiny little hole in the wall totally by accident. We were waiting for a nearby place to open up at 4 pm called Hans Mongolian. We had an hour to kill and were very hungry, so we found this via Yelp. My husband is an avid Thai cuisine buff and very hard to please. He likes to judge the quality of a Thai place based on his one favorite noodle dish, Pad Thai. If that sucks, then the whole place sucks basically--in his opinion. Up until now, his highest ranking Thai spot is located in Fort Lauderdale Florida called A Thai and is the benchmark for any other Thai place. It too is a hole in the wall which always seems to be the best places we have discovered. Here, at Thai garden, as guests walk in they are greeted quickly without reservations. We sat promptly, and I had plenty to take in as I sat and looked over the menu. The joint is splashed in ornate molding, gold leafed Mallard ducks hanging from the ceiling, and origami-folded napkins. The place loaded up quickly as the dinner crowd rolled in. It's also priced super reasonably for both lunch and dinner portions. The staff was extremely friendly and the atmosphere was casual and appropriate for this type of restaurant. Before they take your order, they serve complimentary shrimp flavored crisps served with freshly made peanut sauce they that also sell for at home use. (My husband got a jar to go of course) Quite honestly, the crispy cups looked like Styrofoam at first, but I gave them a try. They were light and tasty and I highly recommend dipping them in the peanut sauce: the sauce was amazing and I could not get enough of it. The service was really fast, and the food came out very quickly. Everything is really fresh and tasty. The spice level was perfect, and the portions were generous. I also got the Thai iced tea which was very rich, almost too sweet. For my entree, I got the Ginger Beef with vegetables- sort of my own ranking system on a good Thai place. And it was superb; veggies not overcooked, still crunchy, and the beef cooked medium well done and wasn't chewy like most others I have tried. My husband got his golden dish, Shrimp Pad Thai, and it tasted just as good as his Florida spot! Theirs is on the sweeter side and not oily like other Pad Thai's, and the sprouts had a crunchy texture so it had not been sitting long before getting served. All our food came with a side of rice and a typical side salad with peanut sauce. We also ordered some spring rolls which were heavenly! The insides were dense and they didn't fall apart easily- a huge plus. For dessert, I shared a sticky purple rice served with warmed sweet creamed coconut milk over top. Nice a chewy the way I like it, and not overly sweet. This was my first time here and we will definitely return. It is a hike for someone who doesn't live in the Rockland area, but it is definitely worth the trip. My husband no longer needs to make excuses for taking trips down to Florida now, we have it right here in our own backyard! I'm excited to try the other menu items as I peaked at other's dishes as they poured out of the kitchen and onto the tables. This spot too attract the business types as it's located near central offices like Ferrari and several others. I can see where this can be an awesome lunch break spot, and it deserves it's four-star rating! We can help but dream of Thai Garden Cuisine! read more

Thai Garden is an excellent restaurant in suburban Rockland County. I grew up - a long time ago - in a neighboring hamlet and my mom still lives a 5 minute ride away. It was my dad's Thai spot of choice in the area, it is mine, too, and here is why. First of all, it is owned and managed by one of the nicest families one could ever meet. They are friendly, polite, engaging, humble and really excel at what they do. Of course, there's the food. It is authentically Thai, there are enough varieties offered without a cluttered menu and the preparation and presentation makes for a fine meal. I happen to enjoy their Pra Raam Long San, their Drunken Noodles and their Green Curry entrees. My mom, my partner and her daughter are big fans of the Pad Thai. Their Ginger Chicken is also excellent. For starters, I've never, anywhere had Mee Grob as good as TG's. And every other starter we've had has been delicious, from soups to salads to spring rolls to curry puffs. Whether dining in, picking up or getting delivery, their service is prompt and reliable. One of my favorite places to go to for Thai when in the area. I'm a firm believer that if a Thai place can't make Pad Thai - then you need to get out. BUT fortunately, this place knocks it out of the ball park. Honestly, the flavors and seasoning, just everything. It's delicious. Truly one of my favorite Pad Thai dishes. Appetizers are pretty straight forward and can't go wrong with any (and I've tried just about all of them). I am always also so big on environment, atmosphere, and staff. Surprisingly excellent Thai restaurant The exterior is uninspiring but I was in the area on an errand and based on the reviews gave this place a try...and was quite happy I did. I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp and they were outstanding (I did tell the waiter that I do like them spicy). The drunken noodles came with a tasty little salad on the plate and the waiter also served a basket of fried shrimp chips with peanut sauce beforehand. The service was exemplary though the decor just average. They did have a variety of beverages including beer and wine available but I was driving so did not partake.
