I got chicken satay, chicken fried rice, chicken wanton soup, chicken Massaman curry (see a theme here?) and sticky rice and mango. Everything was fresh and delicious. Some of the best Thai for the value in Bergen county. We got the red Thai curry, pad Thai and fried rice. Not only was it clear the takeout was made fresh to order but the food arrived at our house still piping hot! The red Thai curry was delicious and came with a very large amount of rice. My husband's pad Thai and fried rice were also huge in portions and both were delicious. The fried rice was a little oily and could have used some salt but all and all was delicious. One of those places I was surprised to see I hadn't reviewed previously. Have definitely had it 3-5 times over the years. Have come to the realization that they are consistently really good. We did takeout tonight, they had the food done 15 minutes early. Pickup was easy in the rather small restaurant. Dining area is cute, would certainly sit there. We had pork ribs, papaya salad, and corn fritters for the appetizers. All were excellent. I went with mild this time because medium was bringing a bit of heat last time. Probably somewhere between the two would be just right. My wife had sriracha fried rice and I had Massaman curry for the entrees. We both loved them, served really hot, even after driving them home and eating the appetizers first. Not going to lie, I drank the rest of the curry sauce like a soup! After such a delicious past meal at Chok Dee Thai Kitchen, we decided to place another takeout order and try some different menu items. I made the call and went to the restaurant to collect food, and both times afforded me the opportunity to engage with the incredibly sweet owner. The woman was beyond friendly and really understood how to make a customer feel valued. In terms of the food, we enjoyed everything, but found some things very flavorful and others less so, which was pretty similar to our initial experience. We again started with the Tom Yum Soup, which we all agreed was the most bold and well-seasoned that we had ever had! On the other hand, the Crispy Peanut Taro Cake was sadly bland. It was basically a potato pancake made with taro and infused with peanuts, which sounded great, but was missing something. Perhaps if the nuts had been roasted they would have been better? In addition, the steamed Nabon Dumplings were heavily stuffed with chicken and shrimp, but only tasted of chicken. When it came to the entrees, the Nam Prik Paow that we loved previously was an absolute must reorder, and on this occasion, we got 2 - one with chicken and one with tofu. Both proteins were cooked to perfection, and the sauce packed a great deal of heat, even at a medium spice level. The dish was so good, but, as a warning to those that do not like spice, there were a few diced Thai chilis thrown in that you might want to avoid. We had found the Pad See Ew a bit plain last time, so we tried the Drunken Noodles instead, but found them just as forgettable. Our consensus was that they do broths and sauces so well that they really needed to add more seasoning to their noodle dishes to help them carry as much punch as their sauteed ones. Overall, Chok Dee Thai Kitchen really cares about the quality of their food and customer service, though some of their plates could be elevated to the impactful flavor level of the others. read more

Wonderful small Mom and Pop authentic Thai restaurant. My favorite dish of theirs is the Tom Kha Gai soup! It's absolutely delicious, and they don't skimp on the chicken or mushrooms. They use fresh galanga and lemongrass, which many Thai restaurants skimp on these days. The broth is so savory and full of flavor. Their Drunken Noodle and Massaman curry are also excellent. The golden fritters are a delicious combo of chicken and shimp! I do wish they had tod mun pla on the menu, but these golden fritters help me get through their absence. The restaurant itself it very small, so it's not recommended for larger parties. The service is always top-notch and attentive. If you are in the area and looking for good authentic Thai food. This has to be the worst Thai food I've ever eaten. I happened to be in the area and chose this Thai spot based on other reviews. I got the honey bee chicken and shrimp pad Thai. Chicken had an odd flavor... the yuzu just does not work on this. It's like they tossed it in a concentrated syrup without much thought. Their garlic fried rice, flavorless. Overall it was just a sugary soggy chicken that made you wonder why they would even make such a dish... As for the shrimp pad thai, it was also very bland and flavorless. It blows my mind that a Thai restaurant could serve pad thai that tastes so bad. Normally if we get a bad takeout joint, we would still eat it but not this place. The pictures you see are what we're throwing away. Not sure if this is the standard of what a "good" Thai place in this area but this was a very disappointing experience. Very good Thai food! The drunken man noodle with chicken was delicious and spicy. Chicken pad Thai was very tasty as well, the right balance of salty and sweet. Loved their massaman curry as well, deliciously sweet and spicy We also got their chicken curry puffs, which were unusual and very different compared to other places. As an Uber driver, I used to pick up from this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant all the time. Every time I was there, the aroma of the food would waft through my car and make my mouth water. I was like a Pavlovian dog, conditioned to crave this mystery cuisine. After months of building up my Uber Eats account, I finally decided to take the plunge and order some takeout. The lady who usually saw me as a driver was excited for me to try the food and we chatted about how good it was going to be. I was pumped. I get home, dig into my meal, and... oh boy. It's always a welcome surprise to find a decent Thai place in this area. Again, Thai food in NJ can never rival the Thai food in NYC but I'll take what I can get. Take out is a bit of a must since the restaurant is tiny. The pad see ew was a little flavorless but the fried rice had an awesome kick and the pad Thai was good. The curry, sadly on the slightly watery side, had an abundance of veggies in it, which allowed me to overlook the lack of curry flavor. Wow! We loved our first experience here! It's a small, family owned restaurant where everything is homemade and to order. We were greeted by the owner who seated us and brought out some hot tea to enjoy. We ordered the fried tofu appetizer, which was crispy outside and tender inside. The dipping sauce is a must! Husband loved his drunken noodles which were deliciously spicy with soft, steamed tofu. I had chicken that had cashews and pineapple among various vegetables. It was so good! Tasty and not too spicy. The owner came by and she checked in on us and told us about the meal preparation - so sweet! My husband I are regulars here. It is a hole in the wall type restaurant, with cute modern decor and Asian TV shows playing (Thai masked singer, eating competition shows lol). The owner is super nice and friendly. The pad Thai is excellent, hot and fresh and just the right amount of sauciness. The crab fried rice is SO good. Stopped by this place on a sunday afternoon after hiking in upstate NY. After pulling into the parking lot, it looked like the restaurant was closed. Upon entering, we were the only ones and were seated immediately. We ordered chicken satay, drunken noodles and thai herb fried rice. The chicken satay was dry and over cooked, the drunken noodles and thai herb fried rice were amazing. Both were extremely flavorful and the portions were large. I asked for extra hot sauce which added a little bit of a kick to the noodles. Extremely surprised to find tasty Thai food in northern New Jersey. Only downfall is that this restaurant does not offer a bathroom. There was a sign stating it was as per the department of health. Chok Dee is my go-to place for Thai food. Everything we've tried has been SO good and their hot sauces are on point. When we dine in, the service is over the top. If you're wondering what to get, their Pad Kee Mow (spicy flat noodle) is bomb. You can ask for less spicy if you can't handle the heat (because it can get REALLY spicy, really fast). I really like their curry dishes too. We've also tried the curry pineapple fried rice which was good, but you really can't go wrong here. Tiny restaurant, but overwhelming with flavor & taste!
