The food at Mekong was better than I expected! Their Green Papaya Salad with Shredded Chicken ($14) was way better than any other Vietnamese restaurant I have been to, and that's saying something since at home in NYC there are hundreds of Vietnamese places. The Mekong Fajita with Sliced Lemongrass Steak ($16) portion was small and only came with 3 rice paper wraps - the amount of steak was a bit disappointing, but the taste was there. Both the Ginger Scallion Tilapia ($31) and the Shaken Beef ($23) were delicious as well. Overall solid Vietnamese restaurant in Nyack!

Nyack, NY - you should know off the bat that Mekong District makes the BEST PHO in this area by far! 90% of what defines an exceptional bowl of pho is the broth, and here it is superior, slow-simmered with beef bone and herbs for over 24 hours. It is the deep, complex & nuanced flavor I dream of when I try to conjure the taste of an ideal pho broth, and rarely do most Viet/pho restaurants measure up. The noodles are beautifully cooked as well, firm and chewy and slurpable. The brisket & ribeye slices are not the most thin, marbled and tender but there's a generous amount. In addition to the classic version with thin sliced beef (and tripe & tendon & meatballs if you want), what's really nice here is that you can also have it with oxtail, short rib, roast duck, chicken, or tofu & veggies, for your choice of pho toppings. Did I mention they have BUN BO HUE! Also excellent. Some of my other favorite items here are the STICKY BELLY appetizer, WAFFLE WINGS, SHAKEN BEEF, SPICY COCONUT MUSSELS, and the GRILLED MEATS/SHRIMP over rice or vermicelli. The banh mi sandwiches I've had better so I stick with the pho. Mekong District is not your average Vietnamese restaurant. They serve the traditional staples, sure, but incorporate influences from other Asian & Western cuisines in some of their dishes to create a thoroughly modern identity. Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the SELF-POUR BEER WALL! District One, "Rockland's first self-pour taps." You choose what you like from a beer screen and pay by the ounce. We tried a beer flight and it was awesome. They have a promo for 20% off the tap and $5 off red wine by the glass on Sundays. With the warm & loungey atmosphere of the main dining room and weekly live music, MD is also a cool place for a social hang. Wash down the craft beers with any of the palatable appetizers from their copious list. The service is mixed and depends on who you get and how busy they are, but always friendly. Sometimes it's great and sometimes we are left waiting a while. But everyone is short staffed these days so I'm not generally bothered by this (I'm a proactive diner and will hail if I need something) unless it's dismal or I'm paying a premium to expect a certain level of service. There's a 5% cash discount.

We just happen to walk by this restaurant while walking around the area. We are glad we decided to go in & eat. Hubby ordered Pho, mine is Tofu with veggies & we shared steak appetizer. The pho broth is really good! Place is spacious, decor is nice, and wait staff is friendly. I highly recommend

The place is cute and spacious and the food is tasty. We ordered dumplings in red curry sauce, spicy beef pho and grilled chicken, and liked all of them. There's a special beer deal on Sunday and the variety is inviting. Our waiter is friendly but not attentive. He never checked on us and never offered to refill our empty glasses. The other waiter who cleaned our table only picked up the plates and didn't offer water refill too.

Had the pho and avocado shake when I was there and a banh mi to go. The pho was flavorful and delicious. I ate the whole bowl! Avocado shake and banh mi were also very good. 10/10 recommend

Exceptional and authentic Vietnamese fare. Can't believe we've dined in so many restaurants in Nyack but somehow missed this one till recently! The ambiance feels like an antique shop, or a quaintly furnished cafe. Since we arrived a few minutes before they opened for lunch, we caught a glimpse of the owner/chef - a cheerful Vietnamese man - as he walked into the kitchen, while all the waiting staff are not Vietnamese. When we asked for fresh red chillis to go with our meal, our waiter told us that the owner would eat them like candies, while one small taste would cause him unbearable pain :-). We ordered vegetarian Mekong roll. The portion was pretty substantial. I can imagine myself getting full on that alone. Unfortunately there aren't many vegetarian choices, so I broke my diet and accepted the waiter's recommendation of garlic noodle, and gave half of the crawfish and shrimp to my husband. I loved the bouncy, chewing, flavorful flat noodles, while my husband enjoyed the grilled honey-glazed chicken platter.

Our first time here and we will be back! The pho was excellent, the soup is clear but so flavorful! We tried the short rib pho and the Mekong combo with oxtail added, delicious! The Mekong fresh spring rolls were very fresh and delicious We loved them! The fried dumplings were also tasty too! The lychee martinis were fantastic! A must try

My friend took me to Mekong District welcoming me back in town for the hollidays. The food was super well done and servers friendly. The flavors were so unique yet they didn't take away from an authentic touch. Love the dim lighting and layout. Mekong District was my first introduction to Vietnamese cuisine and it was amazing! The food quality and taste is always consistent. The service is quick and pleasant. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. No pressure no problem kinda place. Would recommend to anyone who's looking to try Vietnamese cuisine.

The pho here is amazing and absolutely worth trying. While the service could use some improvement, the delicious food and pleasant atmosphere more than make up for it. Highly recommend for pho lovers!

One thing about ME!? I love me some soup and I'm always craving it. But 9/10 time I'm craving Pho specifically. And the craving was strong last week. The decor and atmosphere was giving cozy lounge. Like you just wanna bring your friends so y'all can chat play games and drink soup. I loved that. I kinda wish they had later hours for those nights when you're bored and you just wanna go somewhere, like yes let's go get some pho at midnight I got this butterfly juice that really blew me away it was a really sweet citrus drink and I loved it so I ordered another But the star of the show was of course the beautifully presented steaming bowl of Pho. Presentation was gorgeous Ngl I've never seen such a pretty bowl of pho. But I quickly dug into it and got to work. I usually spend a good amount of time just enjoying the broth as is before adding anything else. Because it doesn't need anything else. The broth was light and comforting. Full of flavor on its own. I also had their lychee jelly drink which was delicious not too sweet and had pieces of lychee in i I definitely recommend checking them out. I'm excited to go back and try the rest of their menu as well. (I sometimes get a Banh Mi craving too lol) but I know where im going for my soup fix.

Overall, this was a solid restaurant, conveniently located in downtown Nyack adjacent to the village municipal parking lot. The menu is pretty authentic but also includes many Asian fusion dishes. In general, the dishes felt like a hit or miss. We ordered 3 appetizers, all of which were okay but not really impressive: - Green Papaya Salad: The vegetables were pretty fresh, but the shrimp was overcooked and didn't taste very fresh. - Duck Bao Bun: The buns were soft and the duck was well-cooked, but it was pretty bland overall and definitely could have had packed in more flavor. - Mekong Roll with BBQ grounded shrimp: These wraps tasted fresh and were well-wrapped, but the ratio of vermicelli noodles to meat / veggies was off. There was not enough meat and veggies, which made it taste kind of flavorless overall. For the entree, I ordered the Triple Treat Fajita, which I would definitely recommend as an authentic dish to try! The meats were cooked very well-- extremely juicy, tender, and flavorful-- and they came in good portions too! However, the vegetable portions were much skimpier, and I wish they provided more of that. The experience of making your own rolls was fun and enjoyable. Other dishes we got were: - Garlic Noodles: A fusion dish that was just okay, nothing special. - Honey-grilled chicken Banh Mi: tasted great and fresh! The bread was soft, pillowy, and fresh; the chicken was tender; and the vegetables were crunchy--a great mix of textures. - Grilled pork belly with rice: Didn't try this one, but from what I heard the meat didn't taste that great and it also went really skimpy on the veggies. For dessert, we tried the Pandan Layer Cake and Sticky Rice Banana. Both had a strong mung bean flavor, similar sticky textures, and the coconut cream on both added a creamy, sweet touch. Both were sweet enough without overdoing it. I personally enjoyed the pandan cake more, though you can't really taste any pandan flavor. Overall, the service was quick and friendly, and the ambience is very quiet-- there were only 1-2 other parties there for a weeknight dinner. The space is pretty small with cohesive decor and a setup that feels intimate. I would say the prices are pretty expensive ($14-16 for a banh mi is QUITE steep), but it's on average pretty reasonable for the portions and the location.

I would recommend them for people liking good Vietnamese. I'd even say it wouldn't be a bad place to dine in, I think they had a radio and TVs going and I'd be a little reluctant only because of noise level but I did like the bright space and the layout and color design of the restaurant.
