Though 4 businesses have been here in past 6 years, I think that "Thai Garland" will be the winner of the bunch. 38 seats here, mostly tables for 4. Wait staff will seat you, and take drink orders. For now, table setting is modest plastic utensils & paper plates to lower costs. *No alcohol. The menu has a big variety of Thai dishes, with photos & word descriptions. Thai Fried Rice is good choice for those unfamiliar with the traditional dish names. Prik Pow is considered spicy, so I ordered level 3 of 5, but it was not spicy. It was very savory sauce, I would love a bowl of broth. The dish has basil a few basil leaves, with mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers as the base. I chose Pork & Shrimp as my proteins, cooked perfectly. On top of the dish is a layer of steamed brocoli & carrot slices, also cooked perfectly. I love to eat, and could barely finish this deep bowl of deliciousness! A generous serving of Jasmine rice, I managed to eat 80%, then "Nomás! Nomás!" I was Full! 3.5 stars for me, but I'll round up because I like local places with heart! The interior is minimally decorated. This isn't a location people are headed for the ambiance/ decor for sure. I ordered stir fried veggies with shrimp and brown rice, which was tasty. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the sauce on the veggies and shrimp was flavorful. The curry was the best part of what we ordered and another reason to round up to four stars. The summer rolls were a miss for me. The meat inside of them, especially the chicken, didn't taste very fresh. Would not recommend these. Service was great! Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. Over all would recommend as a decent Thai food place, but I think this is a restaurant where there are probably things they are 5 stars on (like the curry) and other dishes that are maybe not their speciality. read more

I just had fasting labs at a nearby doctor's office and saw Thai Garland on my way thru the parking lot. I stopped in and it was a good choice. Syamphay was quick to greet me and quickly brought my drink. Pad Kee Mao sounded good so it was ordered medium with beef. My meal arrived quickly and it was delicious. The beef was tender and nicely spiced and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Good service, food and price. What's not to like? Y'all go check em out! read more

Laos style papaya salad is my favorite, has very good flavor (but it doesn't come with fermented crab). Better price and better taste than other Thais restaurants around Garland area. There Drunken Noodle dish is good but not the best I've had. The portion is huge tho, couldn't finish it. The lady that helped us is very nice and gentle. New location for this longtime restaurant from Rockwall. Ambiance is typical of an Asian restaurant in a strip center- a few photos on the walls and that's about it. The place is very clean. Very friendly service from a family member (daughter) communication was easy, and helpful with the menu. Father is in the kitchen, and does a great job. We both liked what we ordered. It's a small place near Kroger at Shiloh Spring complex. Noticed it on my recent trip to Kroger. Ordered takeout. Food was ready in time as promised. Food quality was good. Bit spicy even for spice level of 3. Next time will order level 2 or ask them to cut down on Jalapenos in my dish. Hope they don't disappoint on future orders. Stumbled upon this place for lunch today; and man, my husband and I are so we did. We are so uncomfortably full and will be making the trip back to Garland for this gem. First off the restaurant seems like it's a take out spot; but there are a nice amount of tables inside. It's family owned and the owner/chef is so very friendly and genuinely happy to hear what you think of his food. Pretty much all of their food is handmade in house. Super fresh, and the quality is great. So because they are new everything is served in take out ware. Don't let that bother you; the food is great. The service is pretty good considering there's one chef and everything is prepared to order. My husband and I ordered the Thai Tea. Which was super rich and creamy, my husband swears is the best he's ever had and wishes it was an Ice Cream. We ordered the eggrolls which had glass noodles inside which I love. Cooked to the perfect crispiness. We also got the chicken satay, which I must say has been the best I've had since moving to Texas. The chicken was so juicy and moist, came off the stick fairly easy and the cucumbers and peanut sauce were a 10/10. Definitely house made. I ordered the Kra Pow, Thai Hot. In my opinion of spice (because I love spicy food) it was a 3/5. But he did come and ask about the spice level; I told him it had amazing flavor, which it did, but I prefer it much hotter. So when he heard that he told me he would bring me his special peppers. The peppers he brought were amazing! I added two to my dish and it was the perfect super spicy heat level I was looking for! My husband ordered the pineapple fried rice and gave it a 5/5. Then we ordered the Thai custard and the mango and sticky rice. Oh my goodness; if you don't go there for anything else, go for these desserts. He uses a purple rice and the sauce is amazing! The Thai custard is the perfect silky texture and the flavor is amazing. We totally overate but it was worth it! Best Thai food we've had in quite sometime. This restaurant originally was in Rockwall and due to rent increases he moved to Garland. I really wish him all the success because he cares about his cooking and it shows in the food. I think they are geared to heavy take out business (plastic cutlery) but the food is worth overlooking the cutlery. They also got the spice level right, important for a Thai place. I found this little gem Friday while visiting the Daiso store nearby. Followed my nose and the mesmerizing aroma to Thai Garland, which I learned has been there one week. This delightful family-owned restaurant evidently has moved to Garland from Rockwall. Lucky us! I caught them between lunch and dinner, and spent some time talking to them while waiting for my order. Very nice family. Ordered the summer rolls, the appetizer sampler, and Pad See Ew. Since it was their grand opening, I was also offered a free beverage. The summer rolls are delicious - contained both chicken and shrimp, crispy vegetables, and was delightfully chewy. The current iteration of their menu, labeled "beta", had 12 appetizer choices. I couldn't decide, so chose their Thai Garland Sampler. WOW!!! Comes with egg rolls, samosas, fried wonton, shrimp in blanket, and crab Rangoon, along with two sauces. You could make a meal off this alone, or if as an appetizer, you could feed three or four people. Sooo good, some of these appetizers didn't even make it home before I started sampling. Two interesting variations - the crab Rangoon have a little bit of curry powder, which was a nice surprise, and the shrimp blankets contained stuffed shrimp. I now plan to order this every visit. The Pad See Ew had plenty of protein - one of my major complaints with other restaurants. Flavorful sauce, perfectly cooked flat noodles. The veggies were a tiny bit overcooked for my taste, but I feel confident that's something they'll accommodate as a request next time. They happily left out the egg when I asked. Will definitely revisit and am hoping this restaurant quickly builds a large cast of regulars. read more

I visited this place today with a couple friends and it was so good! Owned and run by a sweet family who took the time to talk with us. The food is fantastic. Very light and fresh, not greasy at all. They even gave us more rice when we ran out for no charge. The owner also gives back to the community serving fireman and local police officers. highly recommend! read more

Food is exceptional. Staff is friendly and go out of their way to make sure each dish is made exactly how you want it. We have only ordered take out but each order has been perfect. Portions are huge so we usually get at least 3 meals out of each entree. read more

The flavors were amazing! We had the samosa appetizer and loved the texture of the outer shell & the filling was just right. We had the peanut curry and the drunken noodles. Hard to pick which one we liked the best since everything was delicious but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the delightful people who run the family business. Stopped in to satisfy my craving for Pad Thai & was very pleased! Daughter had the Masaman curry which she thoroughly enjoyed. Their crab rangoons had a curry twist that was delicious. i have been enjoying this guy's food for over 16 years, and I have never been disappointed. His recipes are great and his food is always fresh. I love too many of his menu items to be specific.......but, the Summer Rolls and Chicken Wings are both amazing appetizers. The Tom Kha soup and the Yum Woon Sen (light entree salad) are among my favorites. The Currys are great (try the Jungle Curry) as are the noodle dishes and the rice dishes (including the amazing fried rice options). I was craving sweet chili paste chicken and searched for some Thai restaurants in the area. I came across Thai Garland. It was close and convenient. We ordered 9 meals to-go on a Saturday. Apparently we picked a popular evening! I expected to get our order at 6:30pm. I missed the message that the order was delayed an hour. I could see that they were very busy and everyone was very friendly and apologetic. We live close, so I ran home and came back. Food was still not quite ready. Took an additional 15 minutes. Staff found a box and packed our food, and personally took it out to my car. So friendly! All that to say, the food was amazing and worth the wait! I really enjoyed the Prik Pow with steamed rice. Our family enjoyed all of their meals as well. Highly recommended, especially for the service and friendliness of all staff!
