One of the most underrated Thai/Lao restaurants in DFW. The food here is consistently delicious and full of authentic flavor. We ordered the papaya salad with fermented crab, fried chicken wings, and green curry -- everything was amazing. The papaya salad was crispy, sweet, sour, and paired perfectly with the wings. The green curry was creamy and flavorful without feeling too heavy. The restaurant has recently been upgraded with nicer tables and chairs, making the dining experience even better. On top of that, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. This local spot truly deserves more recognition and support.

Wandering from our usual spot, my family and I decided to try Holy Khao. The cow logo is super cute, and the interior is spacious and comfortable. Service was standard, and while the food wasn't mind-blowing, we did really enjoy the chicken wings--so much so that we ordered a second plate.

09-21-2025 My sister's friend said this place has the best Khao Lod Song (Pandan jelly noodles in sweetened coconut milk) in town. We decided to head over even it was the distance (34 miles), well worth it! Because we had already ate lunch before stopping by, we ordered to go. Next time around, we will try their other dishes. While we were here, the owner came out to meet and greet; that was nice!

I will say the food here tastes just like my mom's cooking, homemade and brought me back memories. We came here because we seen them on tik tok and had to give it a chance. Service was fast and food came out really fast. Cute family owned vibe and great hospitality. I will be back 110%

I've been all about supporting mom-and-pop restaurants for over 15 years now, but my experience at Holy Khao was unfortunately not that great. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt--it may have just been an off day due to the holiday, but I still felt like we were treated differently compared to other diners. The restaurant went through renovation, and it looks very clean and bright. We were seated quickly since there were a couple of tables still available, and the waiter came by to take our order right away. The appetizers came out in about 10 minutes, which was pretty fast! However, the entrées took another 25 minutes to arrive after we finished our appetizers. It felt like they had forgotten our table, especially since another group that was seated after us was already halfway through their meal by then. The food itself was disappointing. I loved the original restaurant and used to come here often, so I was sad when I heard the owners had retired and a new family had taken over. With all the social media hype, I decided to give the new place a try. Unfortunately, the pad Thai was super sweet, and the noodles were a bit overcooked for my taste. The other dishes were okay, but the portion sizes were small-- especially considering the new prices, which are about $5-6 higher than at SBT. That said, the original spot was pretty cheap for Thai food, so I wouldn't mind the price increase if the portions were more filling. They also charge an extra $1-2 if you want your food spicier. The only dishes that really stood out were the nam khao and the larb; they were very good, though they could've been more generous with the lettuce. There was a mix-up with the larb, too. We ordered pork larb, but the waiter brought it out and said it was chicken. We double-checked with another waiter who also insisted it was chicken, even though our order slip clearly said pork larb. A third waiter ended up taking the dish back to the kitchen to confirm what it was, which was a bit confusing and frustrating. What bothered me the most was the dessert. I ordered the pandan jelly at the beginning of the meal; it was the one thing I was really looking forward to. I saw other diners who arrived after us get theirs right away, so I assumed they had just forgotten ours, like they did with our entrées. I didn't mention it until the end of the meal, but when I asked about it, the waiter came back and said they were out. That really upset me, especially since I had clearly seen multiple other tables who came in after us, receive the same dessert at the beginning of their meal. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, so it's not like they couldn't see us. I'm hesitant to come back and give them another chance. It really felt like the waitstaff and owners treated us differently than other tables. It's a sad experience, especially since SBT used to be my favorite Thai/Lao restaurant in the North Dallas area.

WHAT I ORDERED: Nam Khao, Beef Jerky, Pad Kee Mao, Chicken Wings, Khao Poon Chicken, Papaya Salad, Crab Fried Rice, Side of Sticky Rice PARKING: Shared parking lot, tighter spots and limited parking INSIDE: The place is unassuming and simple yet bright and welcoming. Everyone was friendly and it's also BYOB. THE FOODS/DRINKS: The nam khao was too crumbly and missing the different sized clumps of rice I'm used to. The papaya salad, beef jerky, and side of sticky rice is a must combo that you should order. I ordered the spice level "Spicy" for all of the dishes but it only met my expectations on the papaya salad, the rest of the dishes didn't have that heat. The chicken wings had a nice crunch on the outside and was juicy on the inside. The pad kee mao was great, crab fried rice a little bland, and khao poon chicken was good.

Just found out about this place that has a new owner and is bringing her own spin on Lao and Thai food. I came in middle of the day 2-3ish time frame which is good for me and my family with my wife and two absolute menaces / toddlers. Here's what we tried: 1. Beef Jerky - actually not even sure I've had something like this, it was kind of a beef jerky / deep stir fried beef? not sure, maybe even Hmong style, but sh*t was gooooood! Probably my favorite item. I ate it with a side of rice. 2. Beef Pad See Ew - wayyyy better than 93% of thai places in the area, love the use of big fat wide noodles that suck up the flavor. I am not a veggie lover so next time I will ask for no veggies, extra noodz. 3. Chicken Khao Piak - I've never had this before but it's very similar to Vietnamese banh canh. Thicker round noodles served in a rich broth. It's no pho, but it might be the next best thing. Drank some Thai tea and it was on par with a lot of the boba shops if not better. Was able to speak with the owner for a little bit, and she said they are still updating the menu and tinkering with some of the recipes to make it their own. Overall amazing meal, can't wait to go back.

HOLY KHAO!! This new lao thai restaurant is goooooooooood!! Holy khao took over management of SBT lao thai and man is it a good takeover. They remodeled the place and it's nice and clean. The food is so authentic and amazing. They're still in their soft opening phase and working out some kinks but the new owners are extremely hard working and figuring things out fast. my top favorite dishes so far: khao poon, khao piak, papaya salad, Laos sausages and the green dessert drink!! I'll be coming back to try more dishes on their menu!!

Stopped in again at Holy Khao because I was craving authentic Laos and Thai food and it did not disappoint. It's a bit hidden in a small strip center with limited seating, so it can get busy. Service is always on point. We ordered the Laab Beef, Beef Jerky, Tom Yum Shrimp, Egg Rolls, Sticky Rice, Papaya Salad and the Fried Tilapia. Every single dish was bursting with authentic flavor and cooked to perfection. Laab Beef- So good. I ordered it medium and spicy, and it had just the right amount of heat, balanced with fresh herbs, lime, and seasoning that made it addictively good. Beef Jerky- Perfectly seasoned and marinated, with a great texture. Tender inside with the perfect chew. Egg Rolls (2)- My husband is still talking about how good these were. Crispy, golden, and packed with flavorful filling. Tom Yum Shrimp- The perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and sour, with bold lemongrass and fresh shrimp. Fried Tilapia- Fresh, crispy, and fried to perfection without being greasy. Served with dipping sauce that tied it all together. Sticky Rice- Soft, warm, and perfect for scooping up all the Laab and sauce. Papaya Salad Lao Style- Shredded green papaya tossed with tomatoes, chili, fish sauce, and lime for that bold spicy-sour punch. The food here always tastes fresh and authentic, and you can tell the kitchen takes pride in every dish. Service is warm and welcoming, which makes the whole dining experience even better. Holy Khao continues to be my go-to spot for a Laos and Thai food fix and I highly recommend it.

Ordered the fried squid and the regular portion of chicken Pad Thai level 2 spice, which came with an egg roll. If you're going to come here for lunch, and don't like eating left over, I recommend getting the lunch portion of chicken pad Thai. The lunch portion comes with a small cute salad, egg roll, and a good portion of chicken pad Thai with the bean sprouts on the side. The fried squid we got was very soggy which was a little disappointing. Then it got more disappointing when whad more fried onions and carrots compared to the amount of fried squid on the serving plate. The chicken pad Thai was ok in my opinion. Not sure what everyone's raving about because my noodles were all over cooked so it was a little difficult to enjoy. I may need to come back here one more time to see if anything changed and to bump up my rating or to see if the food usually like this.

This was recommended by some locals in the park when we were trying to figure out what our next move would be, and we thought -- why not? My husband and I got the soft spring rolls with shrimp and the corn fritters to start, and then we split two entrees: the khao man gai (Thailand's version of Hainanese chicken rice) and the khao soi (yellow curry noodles) with tofu. The fritters were pretty dry/mostly batter, mostly just a vehicle for the sauce they came with. The spring rolls were very loosely packed, so every bite we lost some of the filling to the plate and had to sop it up with our hands. The peanut sauce that came with it was also pretty tasty, though! The khao soi was quite delicious and definitely packed a lot of flavor and heat (we requested level 2 spicy), but it was honestly pretty small portion-wise for an entree, and there weren't a lot of noodles. The tofu was excellent, however. And the chicken breast on top of the khao man gai was super dry and disappointing (I would've vasty preferred dark meat chicken with skin still attached), but the bed of aromatic and flavorful rice is probably one of the best I've ever had. They have the khao man gai rice available as a side and I'd recommend that to anyone who comes here, because it was incredible. The flavorful khao man gai sauce was the only reason we were able to finish the super dry protein on top of the dish. The friend we were with got the pork pad see ew and found the protein there to be pretty tough and dry as well, though the noodles were good. This place is pretty far away from us so we would not go out of our way to return, but if you find yourself in the area and craving Thai, definitely give the khao man gai rice a try.

We had been wanting to try Rumdoul for a while, so it felt like a double treat! Before we even walked through the doors, we were hit with the most incredible aromas coming from the restaurant. It immediately made us excited to eat. Once inside, we were greeted with warm smiles by Leona, who was absolutely adorable and incredibly attentive to everyone dining there. We also had the pleasure of talking with Mr. B, who shared his vision for the restaurant and how he wants it to be different. You can genuinely feel the love, pride, and passion he has poured into this place--not only in the atmosphere but in every bite of food. Following some of his recommendations, we started with the chicken gyoza. They were perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, and packed with flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the tofu yellow curry at spice level 4. Let me tell you--it was SPICY! But it was also absolutely delicious. I can't wait to order it again, although there are so many other menu items I want to try too. Jason ordered the chicken Pad Thai. He's extremely picky about noodle texture and thickness, and he devoured every single bite. He ordered spice level 3, which was almost too much for him, but that didn't stop him from cleaning his plate! Of course, we had to finish with the mango sticky rice, which was my favorite part of the meal. I poured every drop of that sweet coconut sauce over the rice and mango, and there wasn't a trace left on the plate. We even used the extra sauce from the gyoza in our dishes because everything was just that good. There's a reason Rumdoul is sitting close to a 5-star rating. The food is incredible, the service is wonderful, and the passion behind the restaurant shines through in every detail. We will absolutely be back--and as soon as our little man arrives, we'll be adding sushi to our order too! Giving Rumdoul 5's with zero hesitation.
