So I haven't eaten Thai food in years because of one bad experience. Well that was dumb on my part because Thai Kitchen is delicious !! Had dinner here a few nights ago and lunch with hubby today. I wanted to try it twice before my review. Good dinner , I had the sizzling shrimp with veggies and today they had a scallop with broccoli, mushrooms and onions for a lunch special. There food is fresh and not greasy at all which I love. The menu has well over 60 items to choose from so that can be a bit overwhelming . We also tried the fried tofu which was really good. Lots of vegetarian food too. The restaurant itself is clean but is seriously due for an overhaul !! The red vinyl floors have been in there for at least 25 yrs. same floors from when it was a Mexican restaurant 20 yrs ago. Overall I think they food is very good, prices very reasonable, and the service was good also. I would recommend Thai Kitchen and will be back !! read more

Stopped here for an early dinner. The food was excellent. We usually split a main course. In this case, we had to go to a nearby grocery store and buy a small styrofoam cooler to store our delicious left overs as we were just passing through town on a vacation. We ordered the seafood soup thinking we would each receive a small bowl. Wrong! The soup could have been our entire dinner. I can't remember our main entry but it was very good over rice. The restaurant is very basic but the food is anything but. Too bad we don't live closer. Very good food with very large portions. read more

The food is good it's very tasty and they bring it to you right out of the pan, extremely hot. I enjoy their pad Thai and the coconut juice is refreshing, the only bad thing is the service after you receive your food, seems like they never come back to give refills. With so few dining options in porterville, Thai kitchen is a refreshing and delicious spot to enjoy anything from a quick bite to a romantic sit down. My boyfriend and I had never really had Thai food and boy have we been missing out! The drunken noodles were fantastic. We also opted for a salmon dish that was great. Tender and beautiful presentation with a fancy dish. Server was on top of things and my drink was never empty. She had 7 or 8 full tables as well, very good job. The environment is very quiet and relaxing, romantic and laid back. Portions are massive and prices are incredibly reasonable. We got an appetizer, 6 eggrolls, order of drunken noodles with chicken, and two order of salmon for around $40. Not to mention the leftovers we had that fed us for another day or so. If you like Thai food and you are in Porterville, this place is a must try. The staff is young and friendly, the food is outstanding, I have eaten here 6 times and have not had a bad meal. Favorites are green papaya salad, spring rolls and aspargus dishes. This is a great choice if you are going to a movie, the Galaxy theatre is just a few doors down. I am definately a fan and will be back to eat here when I am in town. read more

I have tried this restaurant many times and each time it is very disappointing. Thai Kitchen in Porterville is sadly not true authentic Thai food. I have had authentic Thai food and this restaurant is no where close to it. The prices are reasonable but the food is not. There needs to be fresher food and better recipes used for me to ever consider eating there again. I do not recommend eating here. read more

We Yelped our way here on a trip up from San Diego and we're happy we did. Papaya salad was good, spring veggie and shrimp rolls were mainly lettuce - could use a few additional veggies/tofu/shrimp in there. I was expecting the tofu in the tofu larb to be more minced than in larger squares. My wife enjoyed her yellow veggie curry but was disappointed it didn't come with rice (maybe they missed it? Not sure...). We got the fried rice with brown rice and the kids ate that right up. All in all a great alternative to the typical fare while on the road. read more

We were on the way back to LA and yelped this restaurant and tried. Nice and big portion of meal. Only the lemongrass in Tom yum soup not strong enough as we've stayed in Thailand for 2 months and tasted a lot authentic flavors. Don't let its quaint little unassuming look and feel deceive you. The selection here is endless, and it is hard to find a dish on the menu that is not a true delight. I love their mango salad to start with: big prawns, cashews, cilantro, and fine sliced mango. Then I love to order their sizzling chicken platter, which comes with ginger, jalapeños, and mouth-watering sauce. The waiting staff treat us like family, and even though we eat here only on occasion (every other month or so) the staff know our tastes. Truly a little gem in Porterville. Truly a hit-n-miss. You gotta find the good dishes and stick to them. Don't recommend the hot pot. tiny pieces of lemongrass should have been strained out. Panang curry is not that great. I'ts good but not extraordinary. Drunken noodles are a must. Also, food is ready in a flash. You won't wait more than 5 minutes. So if you're in a hurry you'll be ok. Overall very nice people and like I said, you gotta find the right dishes. read more
