Now I've had Pad Thai from this cool little chicken truck out here on Plaza street. Delicious. I come to noodle house due to a recommendation , and it's been my go to for lunch ever since. Chicken pad Thai noodles have become a complete addiction, and honestly something that I catch my self say dreaming of at times. Noodle house slays this dish in every category in my opinion. This location in particular is really cool. You don't dine in. It's kind of a hole in the wall, you just knock on a door, someone answers , you order, ten minutes later you're on your way with a mouth that can't help but water due to the incredible aroma which is the legendary Pad Thai. I'd like to thank noodle house for always being so quick, friendly, and convenient. I mean, the serving is huge, the noodles are great, the service is good and fast. The food was actually good, which makes this review disappointing to write. Unfortunately, Fox News was playing loudly throughout the restaurant with political commentary going the entire time we were there. Regardless of which side of the political spectrum a business falls on, I really don't enjoy restaurants pushing political content or creating that kind of atmosphere while customers are simply trying to sit down and enjoy a meal. There's a time and place for politics, and I personally don't think having partisan news blasting throughout a restaurant is it. Made a quick stop while around this area, this was the spot to come years ago and I guess times have definitely changed as well as the quality of their food. This place was empty . We ordered a pho and a chicken and rice plate. the broth to the pho was good but I guess it's extra $ if you want lime or the other condiments that usually come with the pho . It's unfortunate to say this place has gone downhill . Also it's cash only . I noticed they had like 3 different cooling units as well as ceilings fans but it still seemed to be stuffy in the place . Had a great meal here Friday while in Visalia. I was craving Thai/Lao food and found this little gem right next door to one of my favorite Asian markets. Stopped in and had the basil chicken which was very good. So, when I went, there was no restaurant to speak of that I can comment on, it was just a walk up, order, and wait outside for our food. We knocked on the door, and a girl took our order. Then we stood outside til our food was ready. That being said, the food was great. I got the Pad Thai, and my son got some other noodle dish. Both were delicious. Not sure if they're gonna open up the restaurant, hopefully they do. Looks like a little hole in the wall spot, but eating food hot and fresh is always gonna be preferable to taking it home and having it warm or having to heat it up. It was my first time trying this place out & I wanted to give it a try. The prices are average. I ordered the vegetable pad Thai but she charged me $13 instead of what it said on the menu for $12. they should update their menu price instead of an unexpected charge. I've had better pad Thai before so I would rate this a 2 out 5. The sauce is wet not really my personal preference. the taste is good and not really spicy which I like. After waiting at Davorn's place for an exorbitant amount of time, I decided to come here for some Thai food. The area is in a not so good part of downtown. Homeless people all over the place asking me for money. The shop is right next to an alley with a dumpster where it seems the homeless people use as their toilet. I can see why the close early. Too many homeless people around... You can only order wither over the phone or knocking on the closed door. Their menu is on the table. It's a very ghetto set up. I ordered their combination pad see ew which is an additional $2. Cash only. Food took about 10 min to come out. Which is fine and all, minus all the homeless people walking by, which made me suspicious of their intentions. The amount of protein was not that much. The beef and chicken was somewhat dried out. About 6 peices of shrimp. Flavor seemed a little bit off too. It's slightly sour which is weird. I'm on the fence about whether or not I'll be back. Food was ok. Neighborhood sucks. But it seems as though other people had nice experiences here. So maybe I'll try again in the future, if I can't get into Davorns or any of the other thai places in the neighborhood. read more

First, let me start by saying that I love local and family-owned restaurants. This place has been around since 1996, and I am happy to support a place like this. There are 6 tables with minimal staff, and every table was filled when I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. It was wonderful to see! Unfortunately, I don't know whether or not it was just an off day for Lao Kitchen Noodle House, but my experience fell short. My Thai tea was mostly ice and was far from some of the best Thai tea I have had. It wasn't bad; it was just kinda 'meh'. To me, the taste was more reminiscent of grass jelly than Thai tea. For $2, I hoped either for greater volume or better taste. I got neither. The chicken Pad Thai was also kinda bland. You certainly get a lot of noodles in a large order, but there is little to none of all other ingredients. It comes on a couple of leaves of lettuce with sparse bean sprouts, chicken, pieces of egg, cilantro, and onion. It looked great upon first view, but as I started to eat away, I realized I was basically eating noodles. I didn't take a close-up picture of it, but there was also a hair on one of my lemon slices. I definitely needed to squeeze some lemon juice for flavour, too. Thai and Lao food are known for being spicy, so I was pretty sad about this mild dish. I may have to come back to try some pho or something because I hate giving lowly-rated reviews. If you plan to visit, there is street parking available and a parking lot across the street. Sure, there are some homeless people in the area, but I haven't seen them bother anyone. And although this place is cash only, it's very affordable and proffers large portions. I guess I went in with high expectations due to the hype and man did this place fall short. Idk why but the broth just tasted like faint hints of beef with basil.. pretty gross. I don't think I'll be trying anything else here. I was tempted to try the pad Thai but after seeing the pictures of what looks like mostly dry noodles, I am going to pass. I had recently traveled and had the "worlds best" pad, Thai chicken and I swear after the first bite I told my husband this doesn't even come close to what we have at home. Good food. Ordered the combo pho & combo pad Thai. The combo pho is probably my fave broth 'tis far. It's very flavorful & tasty. The pad Thai was great too. It came with marinated beef and shrimp. The beef had a great flavor. The only downside is that they use thin noodles, and it's a lot thinner than the normal ones from other places. The egg rolls are ok. Not enough meat, if any in it. It's precooked and wrapped. They also have chicken and rice for 1.50. The Thai tea is a great price, 32 oz for $2, I'll take it! They only take cash only, and there's limited parking. Id advice you go visit during daylight as it is scary at night. So with the large combo pho, combo pad Thai, eggrolls, and Thai tea; I only spent $17 & had extra food left over. There is no place in Visalia to get better fried rice. One of these days I will find out your secrets Lao Noodle House!! One thing I love about this establishment is their sizes. They have a variety of sizes for every dish, from small to either extra-large or extra-extra-large (I can't quite remember) Let me tell you, an extra-large fried rice will last you a couple days, and it's just as good reheated! You can also get amazing soup or pad Thai here, depending on whatever your craving. Don't forget to add on a Thai iced tea and some chicken and rice to make the perfect meal. The staff is so friendly and interactive- the owner and his son are really fun to chat with! Keep in mind they only accept cash payment. As of right now, it's only take-out due to COVID, so they'll remind you on the phone that it's cash only. Honestly not a big deal for me personally but it is a good thing to remember. Hands down the best place to grab some pho or khaosoy in the valley. I always look forward to coming home from college to see my family and of course coming here to grab some chicken and rice and a bowl of khaosoy. Sorry Yelp but you all lead me astray today! I tried this place based on your recommendations and the fact this restaurant had 4 stars. So disappointing. The food was bland. We ordered the PadThai, Pad See Ew, and Spring rolls. The noodles were really bland. Just didn't taste like Pad Thai. When I called to ask what the Pad See Ew had I was told broccoli, peppers, carrots and choice of meat but it only came with broccoli and shrimp. Also bland. The spring rolls weren't good at all. They were full of lettuce a little bit of meat I think they had noodles and nothing. I some of the pictures on Yelp and some looked to have carrots and other stuff but not mine. I paid $18 for the pad Thai, $14 for the Pad See Ew, and $9 for 3 spring rolls. We ended up throwing most of the food away. Such a waste. I recognize we all have different taste buds. This is one of the best places in Visalia. It's a small little place, so seating is quite limited. I just went again today and the line was out the door. This is more of the norm than not. I've shared tables with random people and it's always been a pleasant experience. If that's not your thing, not a problem, but it may take a while for you to score something solo. The location is super clean too. You can call in your order as well. That's normally what I do. If you're looking for something quick and yummy, they do sell little plates of chicken and rice with excellent green chilli sauce. In addition, they sell like egg roll plates (3). They're all excellent tasting, the egg rolls are some of my favorite from Visalia. The location is kinda sketchy, but that's never been an issue for me. Now down to the nitty gritty, the food is on point. The khasoy is my favorite. Super flavorful, even when I get it to go. I always order it with the big noodles and I like the fact that they give you the option of choosing between big and small. The pho is pretty tasty as well. The pad thai is so yummy and so is the rice. Okay, let's just say that everything here is amazing. Everything is seasoned well. It's a family run place. The son that works the cash register is super nice. It really does make a difference when you get good service and you always feel welcomed and properly attended here. I certainly do like being supportive of local family businesses and this one is a cornerstone of Visalia. I will continue to come here and recommend it to anyone who asks. THE NOODLE HOUSE!!!. Ok so I was introduced to this place about 10 years ago when I was in HS, and if I'm honest I still love it, in fact when I get in town, this is one place I crave the most...too bad it's not open on weekends. This is the true definition of a mom and pop place. Albeit the location isn't great (in the ghetto) and the restaurant itself isn't far from winning any interior design awards, the food here is just great. The prices are cheap (you can get a good meal for less than $10) and the serving size is decent, what more do you want? I'll be honest, this is my favorite restaurant in Visalia but I don't think it deserves 5 stars. My last trip here the food was quite on the oily side or maybe I just didn't notice how oily it was before. The service is a bit try, but all you're doing is ordering from a man behind a counter (if you can all it that). Since I typically grab it to-go, I find myself ordering the Fried rice or pad thai most of the time. But I know a lot of my friends are a big fan of the noodle dishes here but I don't like soupy items in my car. When entering the full bench seats look comfortable and are. It's really small but the position for the tables are proportioned correctly. Full arrange of condiments in a carousel on the table.
