Thai on Clinton is a regular and welcome sight on weekdays in Brooklyn Heights! I appreciate that there are nice Thai options here for a good price, but it's not so memorable that it crosses my mind when I'm racking my brain for nearby lunch options within a 5 min walk. I've tried the pad kee mao (ok), pad see ew (better, for me), chicken basil over rice (best, but based on the chicken and not rice), and the curry puffs (tasty but not fried to order). I'd recommend ordering ahead to avoid waiting out in the heat/cold. Food is good but be careful if you can't handle spicy food!

    Pad kee Mao

10/10 best Thai food you can find, easy and fast but most of all SUPER authentic and delicious. This is my favorite pad kee mao the drunken noodles are so so perfectly flavored as in Thailand and the spring roles are incredible. Then the service, they're so kind, helpful and generous with portions. Thank you for consistently yummy food!

Rice container no bigger than credit card in size!

I rate the THAI ON CLINTON CART - "DSMPF" - for: Disgustingly Small Microscopic Portions of Food! I was jogging by the cart and it smelled delicious! So when I ran back I ordered a Red Curry with Vegetables - $11.00. But when I got home I was disappointed to find the foil bottom rice container ( see picture) was barely larger than a credit card in width & length and even at that it was only about 90% full! The plastic container only slightly better - somewhat smaller than what you receive in a Chinese restaurant when you order a small wanton soup. Who knows maybe they have a good "Little People" customer base? But when I poured the red curry & vegetables over my rice - THERE WAS BARELY ANY VEGETABLES - like nearly NOTHING! It was all red curry sauce. It was a good curry - spiced nice - unfortunately nothing to put it on but rice. Rice & Veges are always the cheapest dishes so how do you cheap out by serving less than the standard portion? All that they gave (see pic) were a few leaves of the leafy green & white whatever vegetables, about 3 or 4 small shards (no slices) of carrots - NO MUSHROOMS, NO BABY CORN, NO WATERCRESS, NO NOTHING - just an abundance of DISGRACEFUL! As you can see by pics I basically paid $11.00 for about $1.00 worth of vegetables & 10 cents worth of red curry flavored rice. And the rice in that bowl contains half a small white rice I had left over from Chinese food I ordered 2 nights prior! Then tack on the $2.00 they charge for the small Poland Springs bottle of water everyone else charges $1.00 for and that gets the whole disappointment up to $13.00! The homeless guy who was feeding himself from the trash can on corner next to their cart had the right idea! If you approach this cart - jog pass it quickly - don't be a fool like me and return to get RIPPED-OFF!

I really wanted pad Thai, so I found this place on yelp and decided to grab lunch from here. The moment I saw the cart, I also noticed a group of people waiting for their food; that's always a good sign! Got on line and ordered my pad Thai , waited about 8 minutes or so, which wasn't bad. The cart is tiny, so if you have any food allergies, just be aware of cross contamination. The pad Thai smells amazing! Even as I walked backed to work, I was able to smell it. The noodles had some great flavor and for $8, the portion size is worth it. Very curious about some of the other menu items, will be going back!

Pad see ew with chicken, they had amazing customer service it was a quick pick up and made on the spot. Hot and ready

Great Customer service I will suggest this spot if you want to get some Thai on the go.

    Chicken pad kee mao

By far my favorite food in the area and it's not close. Been going here for years now, very overdue on a review. Full disclosure: I have not tried everything on the menu. I don't feel the need to mix it up - the chicken pad kee mao is perfect. Generous portion size, just the right spice, super consistent quality. And the people working the truck are so nice! Decided to leave a review today of all days because I think the dish that Chef Ni cooked up this time was maybe the best I can remember at this spot. If you're in the area you have to check it out!

Thai Ice tea with Chicken Basil sauce over rice.

Had the Chicken Basil sauce. It was pretty good. However, it could've definitely used much more Thai or Holy basil, black peppercorn or black pepper, and a hint of fish sauce. Thai ice tea was nice too Hopefully that was jasmine rice. I have allergies so I couldn't smell so well.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have such an amazing experience with a small food cart if that's what it's called. Thai meals on wheels is located on Clinton and Montague street in Brooklyn Heights. The aroma of the food is what attracted me to it you can smell all the spices and especially the chillies in the air. I glanced at the menu and the pictures posted trying to decide what to order so far I have had the cashew nut chicken over rice , the dumplings, tom yum soup, drunken noodles and thai iced tea. So far they have never disappointed me. The one thing I keep coming back for more is the cashew nut chicken over rice. It is very flavorful and the added spice from the chillies gives it such and authentic flavor. Your best bet is to order ahead and pick up because at lunch time there is usually a line and they get really busy fast.

Have been here many times now and it is definitely deserving of five stars. The people who work the cart are kind, attentive and best of all, make great food! The khao man ghai is a particular highlight, the chicken is silky goodness and the sauce is delish! My go to is the chicken with cashew nut over rice. A big helping with plenty of chicken and veggies. They make a mean Thai ice tea as well. Honestly, you probably can't go wrong here.

So freaking good. Love they have Tofu as an option! I've had 5 orders from them and referred 15 of my peers. We just keep going back! Love the Tofu Pad See Ew and Tofu Pad Kee Mao. For meals w/ chicken--the Chicken Garlic Sauce over rice is A HIT! Pineapple Fried Rice is banging too! The Pad Thai honestly wasn't my favorite as it wasn't seasoned at the bottom but shake it up a little, seasoning from the top makes its way down. Peanut Curry w/ rice is a smaller serving than others, but good too! I call before I walk over, and my meal is ready when I arrive. Only thing--cash only Very happy customer!

Welcome to this super friendly and kind guy!

I walk by this street every day as I work in the area. Today for the first time I saw this food stand, I was very early, I was not satisfied with the lunch I had, I needed some comfort food, even just a bite, before work, and the cart says Thai food.... so Yessssss! And I love leftovers so - if any - I will finish it tonight. The guy is super nice, his "kitchen" looked super clean and when I asked what kind of noodle he would suggest, he said the Kua Gai. Perfect, I wanted flat noodles and not much sauce. This one is like, for us Italians, Spaghetti Aglio Olio e Peperoncino! I like that it was a clean taste, spicy enough but not overwhelming (just tell him how spicy you want it) simple and well made. No sauce. I added shrimps but they have tofu, beef or chicken options too. The guy is new here , just a couple of days he said. Open from 10.30am to 5pm but not sure is 7/7 or if he is here in Weekends too... I will ask him !

Our group of 4 started with a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a few appetizers to share, namely: Som tum papaya salad and dumplings curry. For the main entree, my eyes caught the attention of clay pot mix-fried rice with shrimp, chicken, sweet sausage, and my partner chose shrimp pad thai. Nothing really stood out with the dishes; I found it to be a bit Americanized, having eaten in so many Thai restaurants around New York City. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here; our food came in timely fashion, and the customer service is good as well, but it's probably not your place if you are seeking a more authentic Thai-style cooking.

They were absolutely packed despite the time. We ordered the pad see ew with shrimp, the crab fried rice (amazing), the Pak Mor which is a sweet and savory rice roll that comes with coconut cream dipping sauce (drool worthy), and last but not least the Kao Tom Haeng which also comes with a tasty broth on the side. I'd say that the pad see ew was the weakest dish of what we ordered but it was still tasty. I think it would have been nicer with a different protein, perhaps chicken or tofu. The sweet fruit with the savory fish worked way better than I expected. · Pineapple Fried Rice - came with shrimp, nice wok aroma, and that perfect sweet-tangy pineapple kick. · Pineapple Lychee Crispy Duck (GF) - duck skin was nice and crispy, and the coconut-based sauce with lychee and pineapple kept it from feeling heavy or greasy. · Branzino Chili Lime (GF) - came out piping hot, classic Thai-style sour broth that paired perfectly with the fish. Pad Kee Mao (aka Drunken Noodles), chicken $15.00 Stir-fried flat rice noodle, bamboo shoots, garlic, basil, fresh chili, onion, carrot, string bean, bell pepper, long hot chili The flat rice noodle quantity was sufficient, but minimal and there were too much onion, insufficient string bean, two paucity pieces of carrot. I dislike bamboo shoot which is not a standard ingredient for this particular entrée. I think the bamboo shoot tainted this entrée. I am a traditionalist conservative which bean sprouts is a good substitute variation for bamboo shoot vegetable including string bean. This entrée is my favorite default and as a caveat, if any Thai restaurant or cafe do not offer on their menu I refuse entry to patronize. This entrée enticed my interest and embedded the lunch meal menu for the reasonable price. I personally despise and do not consume spicy hot foods, but occasionally consume mild or very mild in the smallest measurement of the Scoville scale which I specifically requested, but received medium hot spicy. The waitress forewarned me the intense heat level on the Scoville scale as Thai cultural spicy with two or more bird's eye chilies for a high level of spiciness. The spiciness of chili peppers were, in my opinion, medium spicy. Despite the intense medium heat spiciness, the stir-fried noodles lacked flavor with, tender chicken, minimal vegetables, and Thai basil in a bland taste. I wish I chosen shrimp as the protein. Pad Kee Mao sustained my hunger pangs and ate my fill. When eating Thai intense heat spicy foods, I visualize to think of the TV segment "Niall Horan & James Corden Take On Hot Wings" on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in March, 2020. High heat spicy foods! Thai ice tea, large $3.00 This was a delight and neutralized the heat spiciness because it contains milk. It was served chilled in a large highball glass. Samyan is a Thai cafe located in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC and accessible via MTA NYC Transit C local train at Clinton-Washington subway station. This cafe is a independently owned and operated, thankfully. The waitress did check-in with me during my meal for attentive customer service. The atmospheric conditions were a simple small dine-in cafe. There were many paintings, portraits hanging on their walls of white subway tiles. Gold metallic metal chopsticks and fork are provided. If utensils are gold then the interior cafe should contain these "gaudy" feature extensive gold elements, including gilded moldings and furniture. Peony rose are very simply and made pretty table centerpiece decorations. Takeout menu and business cards are available for grabs. I did received my sales receipt. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 18%, 20% and 22% where customers do not have to perform math calculation. I paid $23.00 in cash as the waitress' informative knowledge of the ingredients and preparation of the heat level on the Scoville scale.

My partner was running late, and even though the place is clearly very popular right now, they still accommodated us with a table. The staff explained every unfamiliar dish we asked about, always with a smile. I usually avoid the standard NYC Thai restaurant lineup of pad thai + generic curry situations and look for places that feel more regional and authentic. The menu here had a bunch of dishes I didn't recognize, which immediately made me excited. They even have a spice guide though the icons don't necessarily mean increasing spice levels. As I understood it, different symbols represent different types of heat. Three chili emojis and three meteor emojis may be equally spicy, but they hit differently. They recommended not to order the pad krapow nuer, and honestly, fair enough. Instead, we got the chicken khao soi, which was far better than versions I've had elsewhere - deeply flavorful, spicy, rich with umami. My partner was crying. I, meanwhile, was at "this is perfect and I'm having a great time." One Huge chunk of chicken cooked exactly right. Mix everything thoroughly before eating. Then came the kua kling which arrived with another warning. That dish became my personal challenge to impress the server, and apparently I succeeded because now they've promised that next time they won't discourage me from ordering the nuer. They kept refilling cabbage and cucumber for us to cool down from the heat. The kua kling itself was incredible. That dry curry heat was everything. It builds slowly, then suddenly punches you in the face - but alongside all that spice is an insane amount of flavor. They also recommended to order a non-spicy side dish to have a balanced meal and spice level, but we skipped it because it would've been too much food. Honestly, this is the kind of place where going with at least four people is ideal so you can try more dishes and balance the spice levels. And if you're unsure what to order, trust the servers - their recommendations were spot on. Also: really great ciders and beers. We were really happy with both choices. Overall, even though it's far from the city for me, I'd absolutely go back.

The restaurant is tiny, so be sure to make a reservation. As a lover of spicy food, the spiciness in the dishes really brought out such a great flavor. Since my friend didn't eat as spicy, we found a happy medium getting just slightly spicy dishes which were all fantastic. We ordered the Khao Soi ($33) and Pla Tod Nam Pla ($40). The khao soi wasn't too spicy, especially since the broth has a creaminess and the spicies are on the side before mixing, which you can exclude. The chicken was so tender, but did come with bone so this can be trickier to share. Then the pla tod really surprised me, but I can definitely see why it's the best seller. It is a fried branzino with a marinated fish sauce which goes so nicely with all the crunch. There are a few remaining pieces of bone, so be careful. The fish had a nice balance of fish meat and crunchy skin. If you're looking for a unique Thai spot, this is it. Also, perfect spot for spicy lovers too. They also offer a huge selection of alcohol.

My first time here and it was a great experience. It is Valentine's Day and we left with a cute little gift from them, beautiful gesture. Definitely coming back :)

Wait staff was attentive to dietary needs, exemptions and ensured our request was followed to a T. Ordered some Khao Kriab Pak Mor (dumplings) to start along with a pair of mocktails. And an order of Khao Na Ped (smoked vegan duck) and Ginger Chicken (vegan). All served well with good portion. What I personally liked is the 2 dishes took a bit, not slow or long but IMHO taking a little bit always seems it was cared for in prep. Who knows just my thing. The staff has a challenge to accommodate outdoor seating as the bldg doesn't have an inside/back door for them and they must carry food out the front door, down the sidewalk and into the garden area. That's tough but they do it with grace. The seating was okay since it's early enough but bugs showed up - no surprise - not a complaint just the reality of life and online typing in case anyone is considering it and is more sensitive to the same.
