I am currently speechless but I can still type. A fave Thai spot near my job is closed on Monday's so, a co-worker suggested To Be Thai and placed our food orders to be picked up. I'm well into a month long, vegan diet, so I tried the mock duck fried rice. It was sooo good! The rice was well done and flavorful. The mock duck was so delicious, I had to look at it a few times and hit up Google to be sure that it was truly plant based. I thoroughly enjoyed this work day treat. Pleasantly surprised. Man, it's hard to find good Thai food lately! I wanted to make To Be Thai my new go-to, but this was a huge disappointment on multiple levels. Sticking to my staples, I ordered the same stuff I always order for my husband and I on Friday night, and even though I ordered this WELL in advance on Seamless (I'm talking 3PM preorder for a 7PM delivery), I thought this would've been an easy win for them. Sadly, I will not be ordering from here again. If you like Thai food with zero flavor or spices, then get their beef pad thai. There wasn't even any crushed peanuts on top; how can this get so messed up?! The noodles were clumped together and had the blandest taste on the planet. Again, the portion in the container is only half filled, and the rest was air. This is not a regular sized portion if I were to eat inside the establishment; this was literally a half portion. I refuse to pay extra to get "more", which in fact is me trying to get a full portion. The beef was good, but flavorless; I was tempted to make my own peanut sauce, but laziness overcame me. I shouldn't have to do anything to my takeout food but eat it. The drunken noodles with shrimp was better in terms of flavor, but there was extremely little spice. My husband usually can't handle the spice, but he ate this with no problems. He was envious of my dish. This again was a half filled container of passable food. One star for the curry puffs that were actually tasty and a decent size. One star for the Thai iced tea; glad they didn't ruin that at least. Moral of the story - this is anything BUT Thai; don't even bother. read more

Great neighborhood restaurant. I always get their red curry with chicken. It's very flavorful and just enough to fill my hunger but not overly stuff myself. The only warning I have is that it's a cash business so bring at least $15 for one person with tax and tip and $30 for a couple. They have a tv that always has sports playing, guess they have sports fans working there. The service is good and the quality is good. I will be coming back. read more

We ordered from To B Thai off Seamless for the first time after numerous bad Thai Food delivery experiences. I'm pleased to report that the food seemed pretty on point for delivery. I got an order of Pad See Ew with mock duck, and Red Curry with tofu. We also ordered some fried tofu and crab cheese wontons because, why not. The Pad See Ew was nice a flavorful as well as the curry. A nice selection of vegetables in the curry, not overloaded with onions and peppers like a lot of places. Crab cheese wontons were even a wee bit fancier then the usual and a little more tasty with some scallion. I probably will skip the tofu app next time, not because it wasn't tasty but because it's just boring. We are giving To B Thai three starts because the actually delivery was a bit of a fail. The bag came soaked in curry sauce and ripped open and made a huge mess. I recommend they use a better container in order to avoid this. We lost about 40% of our curry and had a lot of clean up to do. All our food was covered in curry. We also requested no utensils and got the full work up. read more

There are not a lot of take-out and food options in this neighborhood but I feel To B Thai is a solid choice every time. It's not outstanding, blow you away good but it does the job if you are craving some Pad Thai. Generally, that's all that I would get or a spring roll. Or I'll splurge with getting shrimp Pad Thai. I'm a creature of comfort. The place in itself is pretty small for dining in and not insanely clean looking. It's a take-out kind of spot. The only large beef I have with them (no pun intended) is that I feel their food is a tad over-priced. Close to $10 for mediocre noodles in a neighborhood that isn't Park Slope. Don't get a hot head. When it comes to co-occupying the entire borough of Brooklyn, Kensington is probably the lesser-known ugly duckling sibling neighborhood of Williamsburg, Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Grennpoint, and maybe even Bay Ridge. But in this little gem of a neighborhood, I discovered Tom Kha. Specifically Tom Kha Hed. Tom Kha Ghai is a traditional coconut milk-based chicken soup that has been oft-cooked in Thai households. Its primary ingredients consist of chicken stock, coconut milk, galangal (ginger), chili, mixed vegetables, chicken, cilantro, lemongrass and a gamut of other spices. Tom Kha Hed is its vegetarian counterpart: more on pieces of tofu and mushrooms than animals of the avian variety. After traversing for 20 minutes in the snow, my best friend and I sought respite in this tiny corner restaurant. Immediately, we ordered the requisite appetizers: veggie spring rolls (decent) and thai pancakes (okay), but given my borderline frost-bitten, verge-of-common-cold state, I elected to order Tom Kha Hed. For $3.95, you get a nice large cup of this soup replete with carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, and the other ingredients. As a lover of all things coconut (oil, water, milk), this was the ideal Thai penicillin for me. Coconut milk has a bunch of restorative properties, not to mention it's pretty damn tasty: the medium-chain fatty acids in coconut milk are composed of lauric acid, which is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal. Which means it can boost the immune system. Compounded with the ginger, it can make a person feel alive again, with vital organs jumping around. I walked out of there a happy camper, all warm and fuzzy inside. We stopped in a deli shortly thereafter and I won ten dollars on a scratch off ticket that I randomly decided to buy for the first time. All thanks to Tom. read more

I love this place. I've only ever ordered delivery from them and I can honestly say they are pretty consistent with the food and the delivery was always quick. I don't like everybody's Pad Thai but this place makes it right. Also, the Basil Fried rice is super yummy and the Pineapple Fried Rice too. The lady that answers the phone is always super kind and really good at customer service. I don't know if she's the owner but she answers the phone and takes the orders and her customer service is truly the best I've experienced regarding takeout service in nyc. Let me start by saying that the serving is great, I had enough food for three sittings. I devoured the salad and there was enough dressing for the whole thing. It was yum. I wouldn't have minded a boiled egg, but whatever. The pad see yew was so so. It wasn't bad, but it was super average. The flavors were really flat, they weren't rich or sweet as I'm used to at other places. The Thai iced tea was the usual fare, you can't go wrong with condensed milk. We ordered lunch from To Be Thai today through Grubhub and were very pleased. Our food arrived in only 20 minutes and was hot and delicious. I've been ordering here since I moved to the area last year. I literally have zero complaints about them. The food is always hot and tastes great. They almost always deliver my food way before the estimated time. The buzzer to my apartment is broken and they always follow my directions to call when they are here. I've done pick up a few times and the waitresses are so nice.
