I ordered for myself off Door Dash. I typically order feom this location because im tight on funds but love Thai food. So this place offers decent pricing. However, the quality of the meals had really gone down over the past few years. So many of my orders were not up to its usual standards. I still gave more chances for the place to get their act together. This time I was treating myself as a single mother who was *finally* getting a night off. Used the last 60 bucks to my name to order my favorites. Which was a gamble. But I didn't think it would be *this* bad. I ordered my usual; Lemongrass Soup, Vegetable Pad Thai, Green Mango Salad, and Mango Sticky Rice Dessert. To my delight, the quality and quantity of the food itself was AMAZING! problem was, I took a mouth full of soup... and what I thought was a strand of one of the bamboo fibers... was a long, black, curly, HUMAN HAIR!!!!!!!! My hair is Blonde and straight. So absolutely was not mine. I have multiple health issues, including phobias and OCD. As soon as that happened i was so turned off I could not eat a single bite more of anything from the place. The entire meal was ruined. Now I had all this food. All my money. Wasted. I contacted Door Dash and, of course, they dont care. No refund. Nothing. So unless the restaurant can reach out and make this right... I will NEVER go back there. Even then. Im unsure I'll go back there. At least not for a long time. Because thats all I'll ever think about. I feel sick just thinking about that hair soup being in my mouth and the few mouth fulls I had that made it into my stomach before the hair was discovered. Vomit. I have been to some of the top Thai restaurants in the city and enjoyed some great tasting food, including dishes prepared by an Iron Chef. This meal, from Thai One on in Pickering, can't compare to those flavours but it actually wasn't bad. We had a variety of dishes, including Pad Thai noodles, Red Curry Chicken, Garlic Shrimp, Mango Salad, and more. This meal was better than I had anticipated. Im super confused . I used to not be a fan of Thai until recently that I discovered Tom yum soup & Tom Kha soup & Mango sticky rice. Ive been ordering it from different places downtown and it has been lovely every single time. Tonight I was looking for somewhere open past 11 in North york and this place was the only option with these soups but was 4.2 star.. i decided to trust it anyway.. not impressed. The soup was very watery, very salty, not that deep tom yum flavour it should have . Its like a salty watered down version & the shrimp is usually jumbo but this place serves crap shrimp. It consisted of only CARROTS and shrimp. The mango sticky rice ?????? Im not sure if this is a different authentic way to make it but i have never seen this before ? Photos are included . I came here Tuesday around 4:50pm to order pick up. They said it would take roughly 20mins. After a while I decided to change the pick up order to fine in but they said they already made the order but if I wanted to eat it at the restaurant that'll be okay. After arriving, I asked for a bowl but they said they don't have bowls and serve everything on plates. What restaurant doesn't have bowls? And you serve soup? Interesting. The green curry flavour is fine but the baby bamboo wasn't cleaned properly and tasted like dirt, not over exaggerating... they didn't wash the vegetables before throwing it in. This restaurant is definitely not authentic. The Duchess and I avoid takeaway where we live in Pickering. We have been so disappointed in the past so we rarely order take out food. Today however after a long week we looked online for Thai food. We had tried two nameless restaurants in the past and they were terrible. I saw this restaurant and read some reviews. Most were glowing and most of the good reviews were recent, so we gave it a go. The food lived up to and even beyond the recommendations. We ordered spring rolls, mango salad, the Duchess ordered the Curry Pad Thai with shrimp, and I selected the Chicken Devil was also came with steamed rice on the side. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The Chicken Devil is spicy which I love. The vegetables in both dishes were not overcooked and still had a crisp texture. The portions were so large we have enough left over for another meal. Bravo Thai One On. We will definitely order from you again and recommend you to others. read more

The chef recently moved from another place to here, so even though Thai One On is a chain, this place is legit! The chef doesn't skimp on the coconut milk/cream or spices, so the curries are thick and flavorful. I like eating basil after it's been cooked in a curry, and there was plenty to be found. Both the red curry with chicken and the green curry with lamb were terrific. Not sure if the curries are all made from scratch, but the galangal and chilis and fish sauce were nicely melded here. I hope they keep it up! The only tiny gripe I have is that the Pad Thai is a little too sour for me. If the lime could be toned down a bit, that would be the perfect balance for me. We'd been wanting to try this place for a while now. After having spent the day running around Christmas shopping, the last thing we wanted to do was go home and make dinner. We were trying to decide on where to go that was close to home so we could just grab a take away. We were pretty undecided so we stopped in to take a look at their menu. We opted for the 'dinner for two' which consisted of red curry (vegetarian), mango salad, coconut rice and spring rolls. I asked if they were able to add chicken to the red curry dish which they agreed to for a nominal fee. We were served quickly and the staff was pleasant. They clearly have a busy delivery/pick up business because there were numerous orders waiting to be picked up. Now I know why. Our meal was delicious! Great portion size, fresh ingredients and very flavourful. I will definitely order from this restaurant again and likely sooner rather than later! Last night's adult only dinner at Thai One On Pickering. We shared a chicken satay appetizer, curry pad Thai (veg) and beef green curry. Didn't get a picture of the chicken satay but the 2 skewer appetizer was a-okay. Accompanying peanut sauce was the chunky homemade variety which we appreciated. The curry pad Thai was yummy but missed the mark on the curry flavor with beef green curry being the weakest contender. The beef was too tough and chewy but the curry was very good. Thai One On, Pickering , serves very awesome and flavourful Thai food. Nothing insipid or "dumbed down" about it. You won't find that ketchup based Pad Thai here! It all began when one of my teacher colleagues said, "OK we can't congregate, but we can have a delicious shared experience for a Friday lunch, even if we aren't together." I bought in, but I figured that I would just get one of those ketchup type suburban "Pad Thai" lunches. Was I wrong! My Curry Shrimp Pad Thai popped with flavour, the citrus, cilantro, chili, basil and coconut playing together in a flavour symphony with shrimp as the first violin, and conducted by perfectly cooked rice noodles. No, this food didn't make me go insane. My students were writing poetry, and my food from Thai One On was so good, that I began to feel a poem coming on. Seriously! My meal was really good. I have been ordering from them consistently for the past 3 years for both delivery and pick up and my meals have always been piping hot, fresh, flavourful, and delicious. My standard order items are Green Mango Salad - Fresh mango, coriander, red onions, sweet peppers, peanuts with a sweet chilli dressing Soo yummy and fresh. The mango is perfectly sweet and sour, lots of crunch from the crushed roasted peanuts and whole roasted cashews, the light dressing provides just a hint of heat that makes this a very well rounded flavourful salad. Chicken Pad Thai - Thai rice noodles stir-fried and tossed with a piquant tamarind sauce, egg, and tofu. Garnished with green onion, lemon, and roasted peanuts. Perfect balance of sweet and sour, lightly sauced without being too dry or wet, huge strips of white meat chicken and chunks of tofu mixed in. Really flavourful! You get a separate container of crushed peanuts so everyone can get an ample sprinkling on their plate. Also if you spend over $50 before tax (which I always do) you get a free chicken pad thai! For a takeout chain restaurant this place really surpasses my expectations. I have lived near and ordered from this restaurant on a regular basis. Their food is fresh and plentiful for the price. Thats as far as the good stuff goes. This location suffers from a lack of management. I order the basil chicken consistently, and it never comes the same way twice. Whomever is cooking the food does not taste it and is sloppy with ingredients. Complaints, and I promise they have been a handfull compared to the hundreds of orders, have been ignored, and the owner has decided to ban my number from delivery. I tip healthy, and I friendly to the drivers. When I call, I don't have much to say to offend anyone as my order is a like a broken record three times a week. Basil chicken please. This was a cute little spot off Whites Rd and 401 in Durham. The service was great and the place had a casual atmosphere. I got the Red Curry Shrimp. Great presentation and it was delicious! A good number of actual shrimp. I'm saying that because I usually get just a couple when I order any shrimp curry at a Thai spot. The only con? The menu had 2 chillies next to this menu item. I asked for it to be spicer (3 chilly level) and they did NOT deliver on that. Didn't feel like the chilly level was exceedingly spicy at all - more like a one chilly level. The daughter and I love the Pad Thai. I enjoy the beef while my daughter loves the veggie (no egg) Pad Thai. We share a mango salad and as we get ours to go we get two free spring rolls. The portions are very fair and the leftovers are great when re-heated. If you decide to go fir pick up on a Friday between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. You may want to order ahead. This Thai One On location has been our favorite go-to for years. Pre covid we went every Friday for dinner, the two young ladies that took care of our table were lovely, friendly and efficient. Since covid we order take out every Friday. In the past year all of the great staff are gone including the cooks. They have been replaced by angry servers and a cook that never follows the menu recipes, putting random vegetables in the mango salad (orange slices last week in place of half the mango) nuts in dishes that are nut-free and no matter how many times I repeat the order on the phone it is always, always wrong. Seating options are banquettes or booths. Décor is modern Thai. This location is in a strip mall. We went for lunch on a weekday. Our server was the only staff member whom we saw. She had to deal with dine-in and take-out customers. She listened to my allergies and checked my menu selections with the kitchen. My dish arrived with one of my allergens on it. The kitchen said that it was something else, but it was only a tiny piece and I was being hosted by a friend, so I didn't cause a fuss. Still, The kitchen should have admitted it's mistake; another person with a more serious reaction to the same allergen could have been in trouble. My pad Thai was acceptable. My friend liked her green curry chicken. Large portions. Prices were reasonable. They have discounts on samosas and spring rolls at lunch, but should consider offering standard lunch specials that include soup, salad or an appetizer for a set price. I wouldn't return. read more

Great chain spot for Thai in Pickering. This location is small, but always clean and the staff are consistently friendly and knowledgeable - whether you're eating in or ordering takeout over the phone. Quick note on takeout: if they say something will be ready in fifteen minutes, they actually mean it! My go-to order is usually the Thai One One chicken fried rice and whatever meat dish they have on special. I've yet to be disappointed with any of them. I particularly like the green curry chicken, which is spicy and delicious! The portions are large, as some other reviewers mentioned, so they're definitely meant for sharing. An order of rice with one meat dish is enough for my husband and I, with plenty leftover for lunch the next day. Their appetizers are good too, although they're a bit overpriced for what you get. I got the samosas once, and they were tasty, but there were only three small ones. I thought their apps would be somewhat suitable for sharing (much like their mains) but it didn't quite turn out like that. Usually order the Chicken Pad Thai (noodles, tofu, chicken, a sprinkling of green onions and a pack of ground peanuts on the side), Spring Rolls (2, with sauce) and/or the Ginger Chicken (stuffed with chicken and different mushrooms, a few red peppers and a flavorful sauce). We also order the dinner for two which has a green mango salad, spring rolls, chicken pad thai and sweet sticky rice with mango. Note that each of these will feed 2 or can be used as leftovers (unless you're really hungry). Tips: the menu has freebies when you order a certain amount, but it's only applicable if you're not buying a discounted item in your total. Also, there's a daily special on the board outside which usually includes rice. Once you're acquainted with how they do this, it's usually no issue. read more

I ordered for delivery and though I was told it would be a 45 minute wait time, my order arrived within 20 mins, so I was pleasantly surprised. But that's the only good part of my experience with this location. I had ordered mango salad, samosas, shrimp fried rice and curry pad Thai. The curry pad Thai had a funny taste to it. I couldn't place what it was. But when I tasted the same with the samosas I realized the food was spoiled. You could instantly tell once you took a bite out of the samosas. I called the restaurant to inform them and I was told they don't serve old food and we're not willing to listen to what I had to say. I wasn't even looking for a refund or new order. I just wanted them to know it was spoiled so they don't serve other guests the same batch. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The rice tasted ok, nothing special. None of the dishes tasted authentic, but I guess that's because it's a chain restaurant. Regardless, never going back to this location ever again. read more

There are a couple of important things you should know about this location. First, if you order online, you are NOT ordering with them directly, despite the fact that their website is indistinguishable from their own brand. Instead, you are ordering from a 3rd party service which charges this restaurant a fee. Second, this restaurant WILL give you smaller portions if you order online to help them recover their fee. For example, the manager of this restaurant will give you two pieces of Roti for $2.50 if you order over the phone or in-store. If you order online you only receive one piece of Roti for $2.50 (this might even be illegal). Making matters worse the listing for Roti on the website is intentionally vague, and the picture shows four pieces with no indication that you will be shorted for ordering online. In addition, having ordered from this business in-person and online, I also suspect they short the quantity of the main dishes as well. It's hard to prove to you, the reader, that one dish has a lot less chicken in it than the other, but I am satisfied that this is exactly what is occurring, especially given the admission from the manager that this is how they handle the Roti. Further, you should be aware that the company does not honour their "40 minutes or your order is free policy" (listed in their terms and conditions o their website). Further when I asked them to honour this policy they first denied that it existed, then claimed while it does exist I have to obtain the refund from the third-party company that runs their website. Finally, the manager made threats to me over the phone suggesting he would hold the driver responsible and take it from his pay (which is definitely illegal). I noticed that the company has now modified its terms and conditions regarding the time guarantee to be a little more vague, but if you insist upon ordering through this location I encourage you to hold them to it. After all, your order is being shorted by design - at least they can deliver it on time. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS. Ordered for take out from their online location. Apparently not all items are available at all locations. This is not advertised on their website. For example, smoothies are not available at the pickering location. Not being blessed with ESP, I ordered a smoothie. I quickly found out that what is also not available from the Pickering location is a refund. When they called to tell us no smoothie, we asked for a refund for that item ($6). They said no. We could have 3 sodas instead (which, btw, if I had ordered them cost $1.79 each so not even a fair substitute). Well, I don't want 3 sodas. I want a refund. Again the response is "not possible. Call number is on website". We called the number on the "contact us" website and got "this number is unassigned/unavailable". SO we searched for the head office and tried to call it. Apparently that was the number for the Avenue Rd location...again no help. We picked up our order. The staff in the restaurant still refused a refund. They said instead we could choose any item on the menu $6 or less. Again, if we wanted something else, we would have ordered it. The cashier indicated the manager would call us after he returned from a delivery to resolve the situation. He didn't. The food on top of this was awful. Pad Thai was bland (like ketchup for sauce), coconut lemongrass soup was ok. Very few veggies in it. Mango salad had ripe mangos but dressing was not tangy like it should be. Will not recommend going here. Very very bad customer service! Ok food which you can get anywhere. But service is terrible, lacking common sense... I called to do a delivery order. Order was big, for 8 ppl, one of thr order was 4 orders of Spring Rolls. Lady on the phone set the expectation it will take an hr for the order - no problem. Food was ok, nothing crazy. But I am giving 1 star for the following reasons: 1. Tried to call the restaurant 5 times after to add smth to the order - no one picked up the phone. During this difficult time, we trying to give more business to local restaurants and help, but no one bothered to answer. 2. Past an hr, no sign of driver. Called 3 times and the same lady said driver left 20 mins ago. Delivery address is 11 mins away from restaurant. Order arrived 1.5 hrs from when i made the call. Fine, no big deal. 3. No spring rolls in the packets, instead its samosas. We didnt ask for Samosas. The restaurant made the decision for us to have samosas instead of springrolls. They should have called us to inform us that they dont have spring rolls and would we like samosas instead. Or even if they busy to call, dont charge me for smth that i didnt order! 4. When i called to complain that i didnt want samosa and why they gave me that, same lady said they ran out of it and as a goodwill gesture she can give me free spring rolls for next time. There will be no next time of me coming back to the restaurant after this bad service. Ask to speak tomanager, manager too busy to come to phone. Fine - she said manager Charan will call me next day to see what he can do because i dont want free spring rolls for next visit. 48 hrs later I am still waiting for the call from Manager Charan.
