Good food and great service! Came here on a Friday for lunch and it wasn't too busy. There was a lot of seating available. We were happy to find the sushi to be very fresh and not made with too much rice. There was also some sashimi available on the lunch menu, which was great! Hot tea is also an included beverage. We did find the eel avocado rolls to be a little bit too sweet because of the sauce. They had a good variety of dishes and the food came out really quickly. Service was excellent. Very nice staff. One of the sad thing about being a food-loving parent to a picky eater is that you almost always have to settle for restaurants that are middle of the way....you know, the ones that offer something that your kids will eat and sometimes also offer something that you want to eat with decent quality. We stopped in for a late lunch around 2 p.m and we were served their dinner menu. Huh??? Who serves dinner menu at 2 o'clock in the afternoon? It's strictly because the dinner menu is always a few dollars more than the lunch menu but this was a little frustrating. We ordered a mish-mesh of stuff and some were good and some were not so good. You can see our comments on the pictures I posted. My favorite was the chicken teriyaki on a bed of veggies and rice. The teriyaki sauce was watery from all the veggies but the flavour was still decent. Our least favorite was the salmon pizza which we don't usually order. The crispy rice was borderline hard and did not make for good eating. We asked them not to drizzle anything on it but as you can see, they brought it out with drizzle of sauce and seeds. Kinda surprise with the low rating. This place is amazing. Prior to Value ratio is definitely tops. Is it five star Michelin sushi, no, but is it good, hell yes. The selection is wonderful, we've done both lunch and dinner, both were good as expected. Service was great, no issues, food came, we ate, they cleaned our table for more food to come. The Robot is always a fun novelty. The ambiance is as expected for a Japanese AYCE. Don't be discouraged by the low rating. This place should be rated higher. read more

Pretty decent sushi for AYCE and the lunch price. The lunch had ALOT of selection and the sushi was good quality too. The sesame chicken was great as well as most do their hot food. We didn't enjoy the tempura, we found it to be soggy even though there were only two other tables occupied in the restaurant at the time. Same with the chicken teriyaki...a little dry. Everything else was great. Service could use some improvement. The robot brought us out most of our food but we had to ask for our drinks twice and the restaurant was not busy. Absolutely horrible place to eat at. Service was god awful and inattentive. I had to ask multiple times to get a refill on my drink and only managed to get a refill as I was paying for the bill. The food was ok. The fish was fresh and didn't smell. The rice on our sushi was warm and the rice that came with our salmon teriyaki was a dry. The salmon teriyaki was overcooked and lacking sauce making EXTRA dry. Salmon pizza was ok. The slices were thick and the rice in it was kind of mushy. Very basic pizza. We also ordered assorted tempura which came with 4 shrimp and mixed veg. The shrimp tempura was nice and light but the veggies were really oily and slightly soggy. Think twice before you come here. A great takeout experience! I tried this place out for the first time for a weekday lunch takeout during the pandemic. I ordered online and got a 10% off discount, then when I chose to pay with cash, I got an additional 5% off! When I went to got pick up my order, I noticed that the restaurant was super clean and the customer service was so lovely! The had made blockades of tables to help keep people safe, they had hand sanitizer easily available. When I gave the cash, they were very cautious and sprayed the money I gave and the change they gave back to me. So everything was so well sanitized. I called the restaurant to let them know and they said "there is nothing we can do about that because our sushi is always fresh!" I came here a couple of years ago and really enjoyed my lunch. I have my favourites, generally being the salmon maki and the spicy salmon. I went here for lunch today, the rolls couldn't stay together and fell apart when I lifted them, and the fish seemed ... bland. None of the food was particularly tasty, I was disappointed. Some rolls were only half filled with rice, and the spicy salmon was so squishy in texture I couldn't finish them. I have serious concerns about whether it was fresh, or stored in an appropriate temperature safe for the ingredients. It took twenty minutes to receive my first order, which was just six salmon maki rolls and two cream cheese wontons. Granted, the restaurant was having its lunch rush, so I will give this the benefit of the doubt. Ice cream was also partially melted when I received it, which increased my concerns for food storage safety. I will not be back. read more

One of the big AYCE sushi places in Pickering but right now offering a la carte services because of the Covid impact on indoor dining. They have their own online ordering system that reminds me exactly of how a lot of sushi buffet places have them set up on ipads in restaurant. There were pictures for pretty much every item, a count of how many pieces came with it, and options to customize (whether you want ginger or wasabi, etc). They still have the gigantic AYCE menu to choose from so there's hot foods as well as all the normal fishy offerings. They had specials depending on how much you spent. We had an order total of $50 before taxes so we were able to choose a free appetizer. Choices were the fried scallops and spring rolls. We went with the scallops. We ordered a few rolls to share, 2 orders of salmon sashimi, and the coconut shrimp appetizer. The website said that each sashimi order came with 3 pieces but they actually gave us one extra piece for each per order! They were also superrr thick. There was a comment that one of their sashimi slices was pretty much twice the size at a lot of other places! They were also fresh and tender. The perfect combo. In terms of the rolls, they were a little messy looking. They all had little tails but they tasted good so that's all that really mattered. For the rolls with avocado, they did not hold back and giving huge pieces which was also appreciated. Lastly there is a 10% discount if you pay in cash. You can indicate when you order online that you would like to pay cash and it'll give you the total so you can prepare in advance. read more

Great sushi and food. My family and I went for AYCE and we enjoyed the sushi options and other food options. The staff were very friendly, the service was amazing as they made my daughter's experience a special one. The cat robot was the superstar, especially for my daughter. The ambiance of this restaurant is very nice. We got to enjoy the 50 % off our meal on my wife's birthday, it was only 50% off her meal, not all of us dining. I'm definitely coming back. Some pieces of the wontons weren't fried to completion. The spicy tuna tasted right out of the freezer and wasn't spicy. It was gross! Also got a stomach ache for 2+ days after eating here. It's all about sushi and souls. I don't know what happened to this place over the pandemic but sweet Jesus save me. My son and I came here for a dinner and some father son bonding time. Pre-pandemic, we used to nome here quite frequently and found it reasonably good. Something happened. First the sushi was virtually inedible. Salmon nigiri was like rubber. The avocado in the California roles was over ripe and like eating a giant ball of rancid slime and the bacon wrapped asparagus was essentially fat wrapped asparagus. I'm not sure there was actually any bacon there. Absolutely atrocious. Secondly, they have some stupid annoying serving robots that brings your food to the table. I'm not clear on the purpose of these as a server still lifts the doses off of the robot and puts them on the table. I've concluded that the robots are simply there to annoy the hell out of customers with their annoying electronic voice and their pixilated "Jesus loves you" banners on the back. Between that and the annoying ass Christian music playing I'm in awe at how anyone in business today can believe that driving ANY religion down the throats of customers is a good business practice. Normally I stay away from sushi in Durham, as I find a variety of items was never big enough and freshness lacked. However I am quite impressed with the taste, quality, selection of dragon rolls. If you are one of the people who like to eat exotic fish and explore your sashimi preferences, they offer a lot more than most of the places around here. I was surprised to find IKA, & Hotate on the menu. As majority of most places around here would only carry your basics of salmon and tuna. They have great combinations with different roles that taste well marinated and seasoned. Which is nice compared to some places that just put toppings in with no sauces or extra seasonings. Can you get a little boring that way right. We ordered off Uber eats to try this time unfortunately because of Covid we cannot dine in. We are impressed and will definitely order again probably even tonight! We had the crab lovers roll platter, sashimi that included; salmon, scallops, Tobiko, and squid IKA! All very fresh, no funny smells and great presentation. It was well packaged with care and the portions are very good for what you're paying as well. 10 out of 10 would recommend eating here again! read more

I frequent the place often but our visit last night while satisfying had a few flat notes. Firstly, the Kung Pao chicken was served smothered in sauce. I like the sauce but there was no need to drowned everything Second, the pineapple chicken was stone cold. Even on the re-heat the chicken was warm but the pineapple was very cold. Thirdly and this often the case here a plate of someone else's food arrived. Now once I might forgive but twice. And please note, some wait staff are insistent that yes you ordered the item. Thankfully, the iPad breaks any tie and the item was removed. The reason why I mention this is that if you waste any food or ask to take it with you. The customer is charged extra. Fourth, the dinner menu adds some extra items. My favourite are Korean short ribs. However, last night's serving was more fat than beef. So on the whole the meal was good but these issues dropped my rating. BTW. I highly recommend the deep fried bananas and two orders of vanilla ice cream. A nice way to end the meal. read more

This is your generic AYCE sushi joint - if you come here, you can expect the following: slow service to get water or clear your empty dishes, fast service when receiving food (because it's all automated through the ipads), overpriced bills, and mediocre food (though the sashimi seemed a bit fresher this time when I went). Dragon rolls doesn't have any really notable dishes except for their dragon king roll. It's a photo worthy maki roll presented in the shape of a dragon. Taste seems to be on par with other maki rolls, so you're really just ordering this for the presentation. Side note: it took me awhile to figure out the ipad food ordering layout, since they didn't even offer to explain how it worked (like some other restaurants do). What can I say? We were craving AYCE sushi and this seemed to be the better option out of the other ayce joints in Pickering. They always say you can't think/you're not yourself when you're hungry, and I guess this experience is just what I deserved. read more

Came in here on a late Saturday afternoon for a bite to eat. It's an All You Can Eat Restaurant which you order everything through an I Pad. However we weren't that hungry for AYCE so we opted for the a la carte menu. The decor in here is very modern and sleek. The hostess let us select our own table and we chose a very spacious booth in front of sushi bar where they were making rolls fresh to order. To drink we ordered green tea. I was expecting them to give us a pot of green tea however it arrived in tiny cute white cups. The tea was very good with a deep roasted matcha flavour. From the menu we ordered a few things to share between the two of us Gyoz 6pc - The flavour of the meat filling was good however I felt the gyoza wrapping could have been fried longer as it was very oily and not crispy Beef Skewers 3pc - These were very tasty cooked to a perfect medium-well with a light teriyaki glaze Spicy Salmon Roll 6pc - Very fresh tasting with a slight bit of heat and crunchy tempura bits and I love that it was slightly cold Chicken Pad Thai - Came out piping hot and very saucy. However I found the flavour of there pad thai to be far too sweet for my liking and too heavily sauced Overall I found there dishes to be hit or miss. Service here was also not up to par. Food came out fast however once all our dishes were delivered no one came back to check on us or even refill our drink. Once in a while I get those AYCE sushi cravings, So to satisfy my latest craving my friend and I went to Dragon Rolls, Tuesday lunch. First glance I was shocked when I got to the parking lot, never knew the place existing despite passing the plaza a million times. Nice clean restaurant, urban decor. The ipad ordering system was a nice feature. Clean, lag free, easy to use system, no complaints there. The service was surprisingly fast as well, after making your selection the staff were quick to confirm your order to send off. The Food - Overall my friend and I enjoyed every bite. Everything tasted fresh, the fish wasn't too warm or cold, or smell fishy. The rice wasn't hard or too mushy. Its no high end Omakase grade food, I am confident I got imitation crab lol, but for AYCE definitely top of the list. Beats that place near Markham and Sheppard, and McNicoll and Finch, ... you know which places I am talking about. The best part was the variety. From various hand rolls, rolls, sashimi, grilled items, dumpings, to desserts. One unique dessert item was the fried milk cubes - good stuff with vanilla ice cream. Overall I recommend Dragon Rolls for AYCE, and would definitely go back. Wouldn't really be my go to place for a serious sushi dinner but the place is best at what it does. Definitely a fan of this place. It is super clean and the customer service is great! You choose an all-you-can-eat or the a la carte. The bathrooms are clean but the water was ICE COLD; hence the 4/5. it gets busy pretty quick so try to go early on a weekday for dinner if possible. All-you-can-eat Appetizer: - Miso Soup was great. Love starting my meal off with this hot soothing soup. - Dynamite Roll was great. Loved it - Cheese Wontons are so delicious. I would have loved a little more of that sweet sauce ... feel like it was too little. I maybe had 6 of those - Pumpkin Tempura was not great. It tasted like Sweet Potato Tempura. Wish they had mushroom tempura. I've had it at other places and loved it. I also wish they had a "Vegetable Tempura" which tempura of mixed vegetables; hence the 4/5. Entree: Curry Vegetable Fried Rice was amazing. It smelled so incredibly delicious and it was a smaller portion which I had two of.
