Stopped in here with a large group of people from my work within the last two weeks. The service was quick considering the size of our group. Between us all we tried more than 3/4 of the menu, and none of us had something we didn't like. We were all treated to the lunch special prices, so we were all out out the door in under $10 for the meal. I was impressed with the quality of the food, it was my first time trying Thai cuisine. I'll definitely be back. The only small hiccup we had was their credit card machine was not working properly. Eventually it worked, but it took longer than it should have to pay for some of our meals. Then again, we were each on our own ticket, which probably caused them to have more hassle than it was worth as well. It was a non starter, and didn't impact the experience at all. read more

I have been coming here for a while now and I can say that they consistently have great food. Price is decent. The dining room is a small. Today however, there was a young lady who was working like a superstar on the counter and the dining room. There were tons of take out orders and everybody seemed to come in at once. I never waited for her to serve me and she attended to my needs like a pro while just getting hammered with take out order pickups. AWFUL CUSTOEMR RELATIONS. Before the terrible storm yesterday, a man ordered carry out. I was also waiting for carryout. Other than us two, there wasn't any other customers in the place. He had just gotten off work and the storm hit. It was pouring outside. They brought this man his food and he proceeded to take an empty seat and eat some of his food so he didn't have to take his food out in the rain to be drenched. This establishment MADE this man leave. They have no heart. Who does this to a man who just gave you his hard-earned money? There weren't any other customers he was disturbing. They could've let this go being as there was heavy rains and 60 mph winds. I'm guessing they lost two customers yesterday, myself and the man who was kicked out. And I'm honestly hoping a few more people will read this and decided they don't want to give their money to a business who treats their customers like that. read more

They gave me hard rice and said it would be ready in 10 and I ended up waiting 30 minutes and wouldn't give me fresh rice.

This is my favorite this place in downriver. I order from here probably 2-3 times a week and have for over a year since I loved back to Michigan. Every time I visited before moving back, this was always a staple. The staff is friendly, they have a large menu with a selection that could probably please just about anyone. My favorite is the kow pad chicken, it has such an awesome flavor to it as compared to other Thai fried rice that I've had in several other states. The portions are large, even for lunch. Thai place has been a staple of places to get takeout for years. And honestly, it's always been at the top of our list. We usually shoot for the fried rice, but often times get the pad Thai and the mee thai noodle and they are to die for. The tofu Todd and the shrimp rolls are great appetizers to grab too. It was okay. Be aware that they demand you spend at least $9 of food to use a debit card. The server suggested I buy a spring roll to bring the total to $9. I refused... My lunch special was $7.95 plus a tip was over $9. The server asked the owner in the back if that is okay...she did not seem okay with that idea but what are you gonna do?! I didn't even get to taste the food, so I cannot speak to that. But the service is atrocious. I arrived to pick up my order, to find out they only made one pad thai, not two. I let them know I tried to ask the woman on the phone if she got 2 orders down, but she hung up on me before I could get to it. While I'm waiting for the second order, this woman comes out from the back to argue about whether or not she hung up on me, to which I ask "Are you really arguing with a customer right now?" because I just couldn't believe it. She persisted and I decided to just cancel both orders. The freshness in these Thai dishes is uncanny. Every component or spice that is mixed into the entree has so much flavor as well. I was surprised to see this little gem tucked away in a strip mall. I had always passed it and never paid much attention to it until I read some reviews on Yelp. Most Thai restaurants have tendency to overcook the vegetables and the protein can be tuff. I love my veggies with a touch of crispness and that can only be done if the produce is fresh and is not precooked to speed up the cooking time. When eating any dish here rest assure that any bias you may have will be changed because the food preperation is just that good. All the entrees are very typical of most Thai restaurants so don't worry all the usual dishes are there to enjoy. The place itself is small but, there are a few tables to sit with a companion to dine in if you choose. This place is not good for groups because of the size. What can I say. I drove by this place every day for the last two years and never knew it was in this little strip mall. Thanks to Yelp I was able to find it. Food was outstanding. Yes it is a very small restaurant. Your best bet is for carryout. Food was outstanding. The carryout containers were sturdy/rugged and excellent for keeping your food fresh for lunch the next day. Lately, I've been getting carry out and it hasn't been nearly as good as when it first opened and I ate inside. The food has all of the flavor that you expect from a Thai restaurant, but unfortunately lacks the extras that I would normally hope to find in my Pad Thai. I've been looking for a good Thai restaurant since returning to the area a couple of years ago. Sadly, I drove past Thai Place countless times before actually stopping in. I was wrong. I should have stopped in long ago. Lunch dishes are reasonably priced (about $6-7), and free hot and sour soup is included if you dine in. Spicing options range from mild through double extra hot. (I like a lot of heat and I find that the "hot" option is pleasantly so. I'll be back for extra hot when I am feeling adventurous.) First let me say I went in with a cold and not all my taste buds lol. I had the shrimp drunken noodles and Tom Kha soup. Both seemed very salty or they use MSG. From what I could taste due to my cold it had good flavor l. The soup and noodles were def made from scratch. The sauce on the drunken noodles had a nice consistency and not gooey. I thought the soup could've used a little more coconut milk. Also the noodles were a touch over cooked. The presentation was well.... pretty much plopped on your plate. I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai as a carry out. When I came to pick it up the woman was impolite and not at all friendly. I was really looking forward to this because I love Thai food. This one was a big disappointment. It was greasy and tasteless. There was too much egg and not enough shrimp. Everything was soggy from the grease. Awful ! If you want great Thai try New Bangkok in Northville. It's completely the opposite of this place. Tasty, proportioned evenly, large quantity of good, NOT greasy. The bean sprouts are placed on top and are fresh and crispy. The prices are about the same and you also get soup with shrimp chips on the side. It comes with the meal. I got no soup with this meal at the Thai Place. I paid the same for less food that was way below par. I know it's a distance from this place but if you're in the area stop in at New Bangkok. This was the first Thai place I ever tried and I was an instant fan. The waitress is very nice and very helpful. I always special order things and they've always gotten it right. I recommend going one level of spice below what you think you want and add to it with more chilli sauce. My wife and I usually get a spring roll and I like the Thai style hot and sour soup. Both are delicious. The food choices are huge so be prepared to have lots to take home. I could easily make multiple meals out of anything I get there. One who dines in should note that they are a very small resturant and there isn't a lot of room to sit but this really hasn't been a major problem for us since we tend to make this a late night choice before they close. read more

got carry out from here for the first time today. I got the pad Thai curry (no spice) with scallops and it was really good! the scallops were large and soft. I was surprised by their size. my only complaints would have to be I wanted a little more scallion and another lime or two for acidity. I also got the Thai iced tea and omg it was amazing. The dish had lots of tofu and they also did not skimp on the veggies including red and green peppers and eggplant which is my favorite. The meal came with an extra large bowl of rice. Pad Thai was bland, pad see ew did not taste the same as other Thai places we have had it from. Tastes like it was missing something. Hot and sour soup was horrible! Way too salty. According to my reliable sources, this is one of the better Thai places south of Detroit. The owners are Thai. They serve all the normal noodle and rice dishes and can accommodate your spice levels. This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the Detroit area. In particular, they do an excellent job on the Pad Thai Curry, which has a thick, flavorful sauce (unlike most places I've gone, in which the sauce tends to be thin and uninteresting). I also like that they ask whether I would like steamed or fried tofu instead of just assuming one or the other. Finally, their spice levels are appropriate - I get what I expect when I order Medium, and my wife gets what she expect when she orders Mild. Overall, a solid, good place to eat. The only complaint that I have is that the inside is just a few tables in a room - I assume they do a lot more business with carryout than dine-in, to the detriment of the dine-in experience.
