This was so far from Thai food. It was California meets Thai and in a very bad way. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Great food, with the nicest staff. Favorite Thai restaurant downriver & when I move this is one place I will always come back to. I've never been there and had bad food. My orders (even though sometimes they get complex) have never been wrong. I've brought my grandparents there who can be difficult, and I'm beyond greatful for their patience and effort to please them as well as every other guest that comes to their restaurant. Omg this place is awesome! They have the option to eat in or carry out but whenever I am there they seem to do a ton of carry out which is what we always order. We order the teriyaki chicken most of the time and it's so large you could easily split it for two. This sauce on the dish hands down has the best sauce I have ever came across. A great thing for this restaurant is that their food and portion sizes are always consistent along with their kind customer service. I say if your downriver you must try! read more

The food has always been good every time I have been here but the last 3 times the service has been really bad ,I orders carry out one day for lunch and when I arrived to pick it up the person that took the order never placed the order, then the last time they got my order wrong and when I sent it back it took 25 minutes for them to bring me the corrected order, well tonight I go in there and they have 1 waiter working and 10 people in the dining room I sat there 15 minutes and the guy never brought a menu or tried to take a drink order he brought menus to the people that walked in 10 minutes after me and never even acknowledged I was sitting there at that point I left, I hope they get there service in line cause I do think they have good food but service comes with good food and the service is horrible right now. 12/29/17 I thought I would give them another try,well I will not go back tonight no heat on in dining area everyone there had their coats on, one waiter ( not his fault) taking carry out orders running the register and waiting tables he brought me a menu and said I will be right back 10 minutes later he did not come back again not his fault, the crowning blown was the Owners approx 3 year old child running out of the kitchen screaming and jumping around then they took him back in the kitchen and heard yelling for him to run right back out in the dining area again at this point I had, had enough got up and left I will not be back and the kitchen is not a safe place for that child. read more

Thai place is that small authentic place with great tasting food and friendly helpful wait staff. Great prices and wonderful food. You can't go wrong with the Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. The hot and sour soup was great and the Tom Yum Gai was wonderful. Wait time for food was minimal. read more

I'm pretty sure this is the best Pad Thai I've ever had. This place is small and humble, but the food was fantastic and full of flavor. Ordered carry out tonight...6 other people came in after us, and somehow got their food before us. We waited 20 mins watching everyone else get their meals before us and when I asked how much longer was given the response, " I don't know. I haven't checked." Needless to say we will not be returning and will be taking our business to Coastal Thai, where you are served in the order in which you came regardless if you are take out or dining in (giving a tip) and not given attitude. read more

It was fine. There was nothing good or bad about the place, it is ok. I had pad thai medium and I liked that the heat level was appropriate. But it was uneventful. I didn't feel compelled to order anything other than pad thai, nor did I care to take the leftovers home. They have chopsticks, so I suppose it is authentic. Downriver... land of a thousand Chinese takeout places; where chicken wings and burgers reign supreme. Into this barren landscape, another aspiring restaurateur has taken a chance on providing the denizens with the more exotic flavors of Thailand. I salute their efforts and will miss them when they are gone; it is only a matter of time... these places just don't last here. But for now... I will enjoy them; they are the only shop in town. My first experience with this restaurant was a carryout order, so I cannot say very much about the service staff. The lady behind the counter was friendly and polite, and the food was hot and ready when I arrived. The spice level was good, maybe slightly milder than I usually take it (Note: I like insane levels of heat!). The ingredients were fresh, and the sauce was flavorful. The price was about average with most of the Thai places I have dined at in the Farmington Hills and Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor areas. In other words, average for the region, but expensive for the Downriver area. It is still cheaper to eat here than to drive to Dearborn for the next closest place, so it has that going for it. I will be going back to try some of their other dishes. At least I want to, but this is Downriver; they might not last long enough for me to get a second opinon. read more

Okay let me start this off by saying I could easily eat pad thai every day if I had the chance, so I'm kind of in love with thai food. That being said, there aren't a terribly large amount of thai food restaurants in the downriver area. We had the chance to eat there a few weeks ago and everyone in our party was throughly impressed with their dishes. My only complaints are that the interior is a bit cramped and they aren't open on Sundays. With the way that the tables are set up every time that the door opened we got a blast of cold air but I dealt with it. Seriously big portions which allowed me to have seconds for breakfast the following day, thereby adhering to my daily pad thai love. I will definitely be back and bring friends! read more

I've been here a couple of times and the food was good. It wasn't amazing, or so good that I wanted to rush right back, but I'll certainly return when in the area. Funny story about dining-in here... My husband and I were enjoying a late-ish dinner one night. One of the employees had brought her son to work that day. He was maybe 2 years old? He came up to our table and chatted away (in 2-year old speak that we couldn't understand). I thought it was odd that his mom didn't scoop him up away from our table (we were paying customers), but we both like kids, so we played along and tried to figure out what he was talking about. No luck deciphering his message and after a few minutes he wandered away again. Maybe 5 minutes later he walked back up to the table and started chattering again. Then he reached up and without a moment's hesitation stuck his finger in my husband's drink. At that point his mom finally came and swooped him up and took him in the back. We just thought it was kind of funny, but the woman seemed mortified. They promptly brought my husband a new drink, so all was well in our books. We weren't expecting a fancy dining experience, after all. Just keep in mind if you dine here, you might be dining with unexpected toddler entertainment... and if you do, watch your beverage! We'll probably stick with carry-out in the future. read more

Good Thai food. Hard to find downriver so always a treat when I'm in the mood for Thai. I always order the Pad Thai with chicken. Huge portions. Can't comment on the other menu items as I have not had it before. It is small and the dining room only has about 6-7 tables. I can imagine that it is cold for the people dining in when it's winter and their door opens. But hey, gotta make a living and hopefully the rent there is low enough that they are making it! read more

I am completely in love with the green curry from Thai Place. I have only ever ordered carryout from this restaurant, but I have been happy every time. Proportions are extremely generous, it usually takes me three days to finish an entree. The heat level can be very intense, so be sure to ask for only what you can handle because there may be tears. I usually bring my own tupperware container for the meal because the sauce can come out of the styrofoam containers they use for carryout. They have always accomodated this request. Maybe I have been spoiled by Bangkok 96 and that little Thai Place in Ham-Town????? You see where I am going with this...... Since I have moved, Bangkok and Ham-Town is now a bit of a hike. Thai Place has to suffice. Unfortunately, I only enjoy their 'safe' dishes. By safe, I mean run-of-the-mill ordinary items. I have tried several items on their menu and the only thing I truly enjoy is their Chicken Fried Rice and Spring Rolls. I tried their Pad Cashew (Thai Style) and was shocked by the lack of flavor. I tried their Gang Gai (which is usually my favorite Thai dish) and was disappointed with the texture of both the sauce and the chicken. The flavor was okay but there was a gritty texture I just couldn't get past. As for their spice levels, I am a wimp when it comes to spice so I always order the mild. Sometimes their mild is on fire and for me, almost unbearable. Other times their mild is SO mild, the dish is bland/boring. There is no consistency with this place. Their vegetable and chicken Pad Thai (noodles) in particular stand out for this fact. I have had both style noodles on more than one occasion. The first time, I had the chicken noodles and they nailed it. Seasoned well, a lot of chicken, just the right amount of spice. However, I have ordered both the chicken and veggie version since then and each time has been a failure. Either no spice or too much spice and on one occasion I felt jipped with the veggies. My veggie to noodle ratio was wayyyyy off. So, why the 3 stars? Well, they do get a few things right. Their fried rice (veggie version and chicken version) has always been delicious. Perhaps they do this well because it is simple. Also, their spring rolls are like bites of heaven. Yes, heaven. They make these well too (above average even). They are also getting 3 stars instead of 2 because A LOT of folks from my work really like this place. They order different menu items than me and different spice levels. They can't all be wrong, can they? In addition, they serve large portions so you will have leftovers and they typically get your order correct. However, as stated above, they are not consistent. I like this Place but certainly don't love it. Maybe they will improve down the road and I will write an update. For now, I am just happy there is a Thai option downriver. They get a star for that alone! read more

Ordered take out. Didn't go inside but husband said it was pretty tiny. Finally found a Thai restaurant Downriver with noodles I like!! Wish they had a Lo Mein dish, but I settled with a chicken Pad Thai with mild spice; which was still decently spicy and the chicken was of good quality. My husband (who enjoys the occasional fresh jalapeño) ordered a medium spice, and ended up with a satisfactory runny nose lol. Would definitely order here again. :) read more

Ok, I have to admit I love their food here. I always get carryout though because the place is extremely small and they usually have their 4 year old kid running around and annoying the patrons. Really, they need to find someone to watch him because it is really annoying when you are dining and you have some kid bugging you, and I like kids!! I give them 4 stars based on their food. My first time here recently moved to the area from out of state. Ordered a simple and common Thai dish beef salad I asked for extra spicy. It was terrible no sticky rice the rice I was given was dry and Uncle Bens style and I had to ask for chop sticks 3xs, no fish sauce at the table, I was really dissappointed in the spicy. I requested chili so I could do it my self. Of course no Thai chilis but the dry over the counter mess. Whack all the way around the lettuce was something I would put on a hamburger "ice burge" and no other veges but the onions and cilantro. Even the server knew the menu selection was whack. If you don't know about real Thai food come here it is a clean place kinda itty bitty inside but clean. read more

Absolutely delicious Thai food! The hot and sour soup was some of the best I've ever had and their shrimp rolls were excellent. My husband ordered his dish hot and he could have gone hotter (he's insane the way he can eat hot food). I ordered mine mild and it was perfect, mom ordered no spice and that's exactly what she got. Very friendly attentive waitress. Even the customers were talking to each other and making recommendations! Dining room is very tiny, FYI. read more

Great food for a quick thai trip! Their chicken Pad Thai really doesn't taste different from other places. So that's good enough for me. I don't like the thick noodles that they have in some of their other dishes which is why they lose a star but over all great food for cheap if you're craving Thai and you're in the downriver area.
