We went to Thai Place last night for dinner and it ended up being a really great experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can sit, talk, and just enjoy the evening without feeling rushed. The food was honestly the highlight. Everything tasted really fresh and full of flavor. We ordered a variety of dishes so we could try a little bit of everything. The shrimp/Salmon dish was amazing. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the salmon was tender and the presentation with the orchid and lemon slice made it look almost too pretty to eat. The pad thai had that perfect balance of sweet, savory, and a little tangy. The fried rice was simple but really good, with tender pieces of chicken and vegetables mixed throughout. We also tried a few stir fry dishes with chicken and beef that came with fresh vegetables and a flavorful garlic sauce. You could tell everything was made fresh and not just thrown together. We also started with a sampler appetizer plate that had spring rolls, dumplings, and coconut shrimp with a sweet chili dipping sauce. That was a great way to kick things off. Overall the whole meal felt fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The service was friendly and the environment made it a great spot to relax and enjoy dinner with friends. I was in the area doing some shopping and was in the mood for Thai food. Yelp led me here. I was alone and needed some quiet time so this place was perfect for me. There were so many yummy items on the menu I couldn't decide. I figured I try something different than my usual pad Thai and Panang curry I typically order at other Thai restaurants. I started with the tom kha soup as my appetizer. And then I had the nam sod salad as my main. The fish sauce in the lime dressing gave the salad a kick but it wasn't overpowering and the fresh ginger with peanuts helped balance out the flavors. It was light and refreshing. The thai crackle shrimp was unique and a quite tasty dish, thought it was a fun addition to the meal for sure. Would recommend if looking for a yummy, fun appetizer. It's essentially shrimp wrapped in fried spring roll wrapper. The pad krapow was decent, had a fair amount of flavor. Definitely expected the pork to be minced though when I ordered it as that's how I usually see it with pad krapow. Feel like I would have enjoyed it more if it was minced so that it could take up more flavor. Good amount of veggies. This restaurant is in a strip mall and so cute inside. We arrived at 5 and we were seated immediately. We got chicken red curry and shrimp pad seee ew. The shrimp was huge and the noodles were decent. I wish it had a little more sauce but decent otherwise! The red curry was very thin, which I prefer a little thicker and creamy to stay on my rice. The flavor was lacking. They dye the sticky rice in the mango sticky rice, which I could've done without. We ordered two because our kids loved the mango. I asked her for extra mango and she said she would tell the chef, but there was none. I told her she can charge me for the mango as well bc the kids loved it. The sauce was also very thin, I wish there was more coconut cream over the rice. If you are going to charge a little more, just give quality, we don't mind paying! Very tidy restroom though! I came here alone one week night for a nice quiet dinner. There were only two other tables with customers, so I was greeted and seated immediately. I ordered cream cheese wontons and drunken noodles. Both took a few minutes to come to me, so I know they were being made right then. The wontons were hot and steamy and the first couple burned my tongue a bit cos I was impatient, so they'd just come out of the fryer. The ratio of filling to wonton wrapper was good. The drunker noodles were plentiful and had a nice flavor. I got mild but I wish I'd gotten medium--they could have used a little spice. The veggies were just as I like them--cooked but still with a crunch. The thai iced tea was delicious, but I've never had bad thai iced tea. I'd bathe in it if it were socially acceptable. I was running around doing a return kn a Christmas gift, thirsty and hungry, hoping that I could grab some yummy lunch. I got lucky that they were open for lunch so I stopped in and was quickly sat down. I went with the shrimp pad thai ($17) since it was what Mami ate the time I took her and it looks spectacular. On my journey to try all the Thai spots in the Orlando area, this one is a standout! Very close to the top of my list and also in a very convenient area, I will definitely be back to Thai Place. The appetizers we tried, spring rolls and pot stickers, were both delicious and generously portioned for the price. My entrée, Garlic Pepper Tofu, was flavorful, a perfect consistency, and came with plenty of my favorite vegetables in a well-seasoned broth. The service was also outstanding! This is the second time ordering from Thai Place. About a year ago I tried the Pad Thai takeout is was very dry and flavorless. Today, I decided to give it another shot and was highly disappointed. I ordered the massaman curry with chicken. The spice level is there but this is much more of a soup than curry. The chicken is very tough and rubbery. With only two small pieces of potato and a couple of pieces of chopped onion and 1 piece of small carrot, I wouldn't have called this curry more of a soup but having chicken that tough wasn't great. I've been on a mission to find the best Tom Kha in the area - and this one is currently at the top of the list! It's the perfect blend of sweetness from the coconut, and spicy (I got medium), and the consistency is a little thicker which I love. Two minutes after we sat down the waitress came back and asked if we were ready to order. Felt a bit rushed. My coworker ordered the Thai Tea and she said it was really good. First, this location is a hidden gem. If you don't get recommended or walk by, you may never hear of it. I implore you to go seek this place out. I went in for a quick lunch and saw the portion size and didn't even order any appetizers because they're amazing with portion sizes. The ambiance was perfect for a quick lunch but the layout of the restaurant seems like it could be a good group setting. I ordered my food and, in hindsight, it came super quick! I recommend the Thai Place fried rice. The crab meat and shrimp is a great combination and they don't skimp on any of the crab meat or shrimp. I 100% recommend this place but I will tell you, the food had me full and wanting to take a nap after. I probably will go for dinner next time so I can sleep after. read more

It was a long drive from Horizon West, but we ventured out to Thai Place for dinner with family in town. It was our first visit, and we picked this place because of the interior/décor, its menu, and the reviews. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza in Winter Park. Upon arrival, they were very busy near the host stand, but it seemed to be mostly because of people picking up orders or placing orders for takeout. We were seated pretty promptly, though, once the chaos near the door cleared out. The restaurant tables looked full, too, but once we were seated, we noticed there was a whole other room in the back that was closed/empty. To start, we ordered edamame as an appetizer. Apparently they had two options -- one regular style and one with a garlic butter sauce. Our server recommended the latter, so we went with that. The edamame came out, along with a side of flat bread pancakes and a peanut dipping sauce. We assumed the bread was complimentary, and something unique we had never had at a Thai restaurant before. It was delicious (how can you go wrong with peanut sauce?). But then we noticed the manager kept looking at us and talking to the servers. Apparently, the appetizers were delivered to the wrong table. There is no complimentary bread platter. The manager came and told us it was given to us by mistake, almost acted like it was our fault, and was going to take it away (and give it to the correct table??). Anyway, we explained we had already eaten some. It was poorly and unprofessionally handled. But she ended up leaving it for us to eat. And, damn, they were good. I just hope she didn't take it out on the servers. It was an honest mistake, and we had ordered the edamame, so how were we to know? Anyway, the edamame was AMAZING. I've never had it with the sauce and crispy garlic on it before. I highly recommend it. I love Pad Thai, but I rarely order it anymore at Thai restaurants. Why? Typically, all of my dining mates usually order it, so I try to mix things up a bit. I didn't feel like rice (we had had Chinese food a couple nights prior), so I ordered the Drunken Noodles, which was similar to the Pad Thai in ingredients and also had high ratings in the reviews. It was delicious, although it could have used a little more sauce because it was a bit dry. The portions were very large, and I ended up bringing some home. Maybe because I filled up on the delicious "complimentary" bread/pancakes and peanut dipping sauce. LOL Our server was great. Thai Place is located near a lot of shops and has a massive parking lot nearby. It has a lot of indoor seating, restrooms, and a bar. The servers were very kind and efficient. We ordered the chicken pad thai, fried rice, and drunken fried rice. We also got some potstickers since we came during their happy hour (I believe it's 3-6 PM). Prices are in the $15/20 range. The food was hot, flavorful, and a large portion size. We all got medium spice but think we could've handled hot (at least for the fried rice). I feel like Thai Place is a hidden gem in Winter Park. You may miss it in the corner of the busy shopping center. We sat at the bar and had great service. The bartender explained the drink menu which has speciality drinks he made himself. The food was also great, I had never had authentic Pad Thai before this. Truth be told, the plan was to hit up another Thai restaurant for lunch, but to our despair it was closed. A quick Yelp search yielded Thai Place as a similarly rated and nearby option. So I called this time and the lady who answered said "we close at 10pm." My immediate response was, "Great, I'll see you in 15 minutes!" Thai Place was tucked away in a busy strip mall area and we were immediately impressed by the ambiance and decor when we walked in. The Restaurant was pretty busy for a late lunch, which was a good sign. As most places since the pandemic, there was minimal staff and they were all hustling. We were warmly greeted and seated. We ordered our go-to Thai meals and were served much quicker than anticipated. The chicken Pad Thai was good. It had a nice amount of sweetness and the lunch portion was adequate. The Pad See Ew with Beef was tasty and above-average. The beef may have been the best I've had at a Thai spot. The pieces were large, tasty, and very tender. The Thai Tea was a top 3. I'm very picky when it comes to my Thai food and there were just a few minor things that didn't allow me to absolute love it. The Pad Thai didn't have crushed Peanuts, the Pad See Ew didn't have Chinese broccoli, and they didn't have the classic spice rack that I love. Sauces are complex and distinctive, veggies are fresh and crisp, and no one is skimping in the kitchen. My only complaint--and here's a first--is that the food is served too hot. This restaurant is fantastic! Definitely expect to eat good food at reasonable prices, good service from the staff, and an overall excellent dining experience. We were greeted by the hostess with care and were seated very quickly. The restaurant has a clean feel to it and they upgraded the look and feel of their menus, a quality I personally take note in when dining. Our table ordered the drunken noodles and drunken fried rice, which were both delicious! I've had drunken noodles at other Thai restaurants and some end up tasting very salty, but this restaurant seasoned the dish well and also provided lots of veggies and basil. Same goes for the fried rice. I also do want to point out that their Thai tea is also very good (definitely a staple to get). Our waitress was very kind and attentive towards our needs. I also appreciated various staff occasionally coming around to greet us and ask how everything was going. I'm assuming one of them was the manager. Their bathrooms were also clean!
