I came here once with my daughter and ordered pad Thai, and that was decent. The people that own this restaurant are very nice. But tonight I ordered the Tom Kha soup, shrimp spring rolls, and Drunkin noodle, and it was just awful. Firstly, the spring roll, which costs extra for shrimp, doesn't even have a full shrimp in it. Just a small shrimp morsel. The soup also only had a single shrimp, and was salty beyond reason. I tried dumping some water in it, but it was unsalvageable.The main dish, which I love, was like nothing I've ever had before. Mind you, I've eaten Thai food all over the country, and I've always loved it. But this didn't have the typical spicy sweet flavor, it tasted more like spicy ketchup, and had a huge amount of bamboo shoots. The noodles were overcooked and fell apart. I ate what I could and ended up throwing the rest away. It wasn't cheap, so that's money wasted. I won't be back. read more

I had high hopes based on other reviews; but had some reservations, as well given the area, especially ... I ordered a wonton soup, pork fried rice, drunken noodles, orange chicken, "side of lo mein noodles," white rice and a couple other things, and I can say that I won't be back. I ordered salmon sashimi here and it immediately tasted wrong. I had one small bite and never touched it again. I told the waitress what happened and was still handed a bill to pay for the item. If you are in a small college town like Farmington, Thai Smile is exactly the restaurant you want there. If you have one Thai place - having it be quality is clutch. The inside is pretty and intimate - ok for the takeout crowd and great for the college students going on a date night or escape from campus food. They have some of the best Tom Kha soup I have ever had. The coconut broth is so flavorful, I would happily drink a mug of it every day. Portions are big - leftovers are great! The very first time that I visited the restaurant, I ordered the Red Curry with crispy haddock. Although I am in my 60's and have lived in New England all of my life, this haddock dinner was the very best haddock dinner that I have EVER eaten. Small pieces of very fresh Haddock, in a light crispy batter that is served on top of a very tasty red curry sauce with very fresh al dente vegetables. Jasmine rice is served on the side. I have been back to that restaurant many times since that first visit, and I know that their menu is extensive. That being said, after having the haddock, I haven't wanted to order any other dish on the menu. The waitstaff is terrific, the portion sizes are more than adequate, and the price per dinner matches the dinner that you are served. Five stars from me! read more

Thai Smile is my go-to restaurant in Farmington. Great food, wonderful & friendly staff, and a lovely selection of draft beer! What could be better?!? I typically get the same thing: fresh spring rolls (veggie) and red curry (chicken) with onions and "yellow powder" added. If I'm staying in, I'll grab a beer, too! Everything is flavorful & has generous portions*. Thai Smile also delivers and has Take-Out options. They also have an online ordering option via a third-party. You can access this from their website. Overall, a fantastic little spot to grab a drink and some delicious Thai food... And while you're at it, you can pop right over to Narrow Gauge Cinemas and catch a movie!! A great date night! *this doesn't apply to the rice they serve with the curry. if you like sub par sushi this the place to go. I have eaten sushi across the world with the army. Prices are high freshness is ok service is mediocre at best. if your not in a hurry and want ok sushi this is it! hours are weird and sporadic as well. Do not be surprised if you pull in cause the website says they are open and they are not actuall and just because they where open that time last week doesn't mean they will be this week. at the very least I ordered two rolls, nothing exotic or crazy 28$ later and didn't get the sauce I asked for. This was a great find. The food was delicious. We had the crab Rangoon's and chicken egg rolls to start, hot out of the back with a nice delicate sweet and sour dipping sauce. My husband had the special pineapple fried rice and I had drunken noodles with chicken. Both were very good. The sauce on the drunken noodles was perfect. Soggy sushi, overly seasoned and flavored main course (the Fancy) "swimming in "fancy sauce". I'm pretty sure the fish and shrimp came from frozen; very little felt fresh. The only things warranting two stars are prompt service, friendly wait staff, and the place is very clean and inviting. Place is diesel. 30 beers on tap, delicious curry dishes, and kareokee any night of the week? Yes please Thai smile. The portion sizes are real big so come with an appetite. The prices are a tad high but that's ok. There is a massive homies collection (the plastic figurines) lining the mantle above the bar so that's a big plus for me and hopefully you too. I can't help but mention that there is a large portrait of the owner and his wife hanging on the wall. The noise level can be a little awkward - it was really quiet when we walked in. I've eaten here on a few occasions and always gotten a curry dish. The green curry is my favorite. The spring rolls were also very good. Our server / bartender extraordinaire Derek, played a great host. He knew the menu and tap line well. On my last visit I drank Maine brewing company's Peeper and an Old Speckled Hen. This place is about as unique as I could imagine. The fact that a Thai restaurant offers a choice of 30 craft beers on the tap line yet still carries a tacky feel that I crave in a thai food experience is nothing short of special. read more

I came on a Wed night. The staff mentioned that the liquor license wasn't updated so I couldn't drink a beer. That was disappointing as they had quite a few beers on tap. They probably had the best beer selection I've ever seen in an Asian restaurant. In any case, I really came for the food. I had a drunken noodle dish ($13) and a thai salad ($7). My $7 salad was a side salad with some pineapple pieces and fried tofu. That's pretty ridiculous to me. And I question whether that pineapple was fresh or came from a can. The drunken noodle dish was a little better but the sauce was really, really sweet and the noodles didn't have a great texture. It did not have a great balance of noodles, veggies and chicken (way too much chicken for my taste and not enough veggies). Maybe I was just disappointed that I finally got a chance to eat something other than pub food and it didn't meet expectation. I'll try them again and update the review accordingly though. read more

This is our annual stop at Thai Smiles, and they are as good as ever. They've added some Korean dishes, also. # 66- Orange crispy chicken and shrimp was recommended, and what a winner. The batter was extra light and crispy, in an orange-ginger sauce. A must try. There's also a full bar. Great beers on tap. They have the original, but a Thai recipe flare. Try the Thai margarita. I had been a frequent diner here for a couple of years until I noticed they sometimes add exactly an extra $1.00 to your card AFTER you've signed for the correct amount. I'm very particular about my check book, so I always balance and correct it based on the transactions that go through online. I was surprised to see the difference in total when I checked my bank website. It may seem petty to some, but changing the amount that's charged to your card after you've already signed is not okay. That $1.00 can really add up if they're doing it multiple times per day, and I realize not everyone is as careful about their record keeping when it comes to a debit card. Please be careful if you need to keep track of every dollar in your accounts like I do. "If" I go there ever again, I'll be paying in cash. I think I'll just go somewhere else though. We ate at this restaurant today and it was the worst Thai Food I have ever eaten. We had Pad Thai and it was watery and the Pineapple Fried Rice had so much curry in it we couldn't eat it. I spoke to the Sunday Manager, about the fact that we couldn't eat the Fried Rice because it was burning my throat and he said to bad, you ordered it you have to pay for it. My husband had the seafood sweet and sour, everything was breaded and fried, except the mussels and shrimp. Wow...now even Thai food isn't even good for you. Definitely the best Thai food I've eaten in Maine so far. The Tom Yum soup was very fresh tasting with the perfect balance of spice and tangy flavors. The appetizer sampler included everything from curry puffs to satay chicken and was incredible.. the chicken was crispy--the curry flavors, intense! And then finally the Pad Thai was probably the best I've ever eaten. The sauce had a smoky wok flavor with perfect balance of salty, sweet, and savory.. and the noodles were perfect texture. This place may have a cute name and interior, but the only good thing they make here is their tea. We came here and ordered a couple or appetizers followed by some entrees. Although the egg rolls were alright, not that many people can mess those up, the tempura was soggy and the vegetables had little to no taste. I got the orange chicken and my girlfriend got the pad thai. The chicken was absolutely atrocious; the batter it was cooked in was nasty, the chicken itself was chewy, and the sauce was even nastier, it was too sweet and didn't have enough flavor. The pad thai was watery and the flavor wasn't too much to talk about either. Lastly, the place was WAY overpriced for the quality. Although the place isn't super expensive, you're going to be getting some nasty thai food that will probably upset your stomach with how sweet it is. read more

I really wanted to find a sushi place around here in Farmington because I just moved here and sushi is my favorite food. The restaurant was very clean and very spacious. The staff was very nice and they answered all of our questions. The food was good as well but the rolls are bigger than what I'm use to. There was a lot more rice than fish. What was weird was that we (my fiancée, friend and I) ordered a lot of food but when we were finished, we weren't satisfied or full at all. It was very pricey as well. read more

The food Thai smile serves tastes really good and fresh and the atmosphere is really nice and relaxing although they take a long time to take your order if they are busy. When Thai Smile is not busy they serve their food really fast and when they are busy they don't get you. I went in with a few friends and the people that came in behind us finished their meal and paid for it before we even got our drinks. We were there for about two and a half hours when we could have been out in one hour or less. read more
