Came in after this place being on my radar for a while and was not disappointed! Had some great sushi rolls and apps, even grabbed some strawberry mochi for dessert! Service was fast and friendly, very accommodating, and we could hear some of the hibachi groups having a great time so we'll have to try that next time! They seemed put out that our party of 4 requested Hibachi Grill w/out a reservation and we had to wait around 30 min for the hibachi chef to come to the grill/table. Waitress was not very attentive, one in our party wanted another sushi roll, and several sat w/empty drink glasses the second half of the meal as the waitress didn't show up again til we were finishing our meals... Would have given the place 4 stars if not for these issues. Otherwise, chef was friendly enough - although not as much showmanship / entertainment & interaction as other hibachi's we've been to. Portions & prices were reasonable and the food was good - nothing remarkable, but a solid 4 stars if the service was better. Birthday lunch with my daughter. Chilly day with delicious hot tea. We chose rainbow roll and the new year roll. Tempura shrimp and vegetables. The service was pleasant and attentive. My daughter also ordered the Tom yum. The Tom yum is not your traditional but is real delicious. It's rich and tangy with a multitude of veggies. My daughter asked for chicken and they obliged and replaced the shrimp. Very accommodating to their patrons. The sushi is stunning! Almost too pretty to eat!! I will be back! Fabulous food. First time here and I was not disappointed. I had a California Roll, made fresh! With Hibachi Steak & Scallops with fried rice and it was great! Our waitress, Cat, was polite and attentive but not overbearingly so. The atmosphere was pleasant but I believe they were having an issue with the heat as it was quite chilly. Made a reservation for a table; got hibachi. Ordered fried noodles with the tempura, never got them. Brought this up when I got my bill and they said they could box some up they had to go. I said no I want it just taken off of my bill; I don't have room for leftovers. We got takeout from Mirakuya tonight. What a disappointment. We ordered simple food; chicken teriyaki and a shrimp tempura roll. The shrimp tempura roll had good flavor, but the rolls were so large, they were impossible to eat without it falling apart. The chicken teriyaki was so bland. It was a sliced up chicken breast drizzled with sauce. No char, no teriyaki flavor. We took the chicken, put some hoisin sauce on it, and put it under the broiler. This made it palatable. But we didn't pay $25 to cook our own food. Probably won't be back. read more

IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES: BEWARE The purpose of this review is not necessarily to hurt the business, but it is to warn potential customers who have food allergies- with concern for their health. I dined at this establishment this past Wednesday night (January 4th). My date is leaving for a 6 month job across the country, and this was my last chance to see her before she leaves. She has a severe gluten allergy (allergy. Not sensitivity). Before ordering, she made this very clear to our server. My date asked our server about a few specific dishes, and she replied saying a few of them do indeed have gluten. She ended up ordering a sushi roll, which the server confirmed that none of the ingredients contain gluten. When our food came, she set the plate down on the table, hesitated, and said: "hold on one second, let me look at this; sometimes they put in these crunchy things in this dish and they might have gluten" After examining the dish for a few seconds, she said "okay, you should be all set!" And walked away.. My date ate one piece of her sushi roll, and it had the crunchy ingredient in it. Within a few minutes, she could feel the severe nausea setting in as part of an allergic reaction to gluten. There was gluten in her food. I completely understand that it may be difficult for restaurants to accommodate for all types of food allergies, but it is vital for servers, and people preparing the food to know what is in the food, to avoid risking their customer's health. There should not be any dishes on the menu that "sometimes" have certain ingredients. Our server wasn't sure whether or not this dish had gluten in it, and instead of admitting that, she lied to us and guessed. She guessed wrong. She should have consulted with the chef preparing the food first. Otherwise, this is a massive risk to the customer's health, as well as a huge legal liability for the business. After telling our server, she said "sorry, I'll fix this" as if our order was simply incorrect. My date told her that she was sick and she could no longer eat anything. I asked for the bill. We could hear the server speaking to another employee near us in a frustrated way, as if we inconvenienced her. After handing me the bill, our server said "normally we will offer a gift card for these situations, but we went ahead and took that dish off your bill!" - as if she had made some generous gesture. There was absolutely no way we would have accepted a gift card for this, or agreed to pay for my date's food at all. Considering the risk to my date's health, and the huge legal liability to the restaurant, I was surprised they charged us for the food I had ordered. I paid for my food and we left. My date felt very sick for the rest of the night and had to go home. Luckily, she only ate a small amount of gluten and was able to avoid needing medical attention. If I was the owner of this restaurant, I would be extremely concerned with the way the server handled this situation. These mistakes can land people in the hospital, and can get your whole business shut down. If you have any sort of food allergy, intolerance, or sensitivity -eating at this place is not worth the risk. They don't know what is in their own dishes! It's so sad to see how Mirakuya has deteriorated over the past 15 months. Apparently, Covid really took a toll on this wonderful little restaurant. The last time I was there, the sushi bar was barricaded off with a screen and there was only one very busy waitress on duty. The whole place feels like it is on its last legs, and at any moment will just roll over and die. I hope somehow, they can find some new energy and courage , to bring the restaurant back to its former glory. I have to flag her down if I need anything. They take forever to even greet you and it's basically "what do you want" service. If you want great service avoid the place. The purpose of this review is not to hurt this business. On 2-16-24 I went to Mirakuya Sushi & Steak house to pick up my online order that I placed for lunch. I picked up my order around 11:50AM. I ordered homemade beef dumpling and their sweet potato roll with a side order of yumyum sauce. A few hours after eating I was nauseated and vomiting for two days and unable to keep water down. I ended up in the hospital from being extremely dehydrated due to food poisoning. This food was the only food I had ingested all day before getting violently sick for days. Ordered take out a few times, and always get the same thing, tiger roll and gyoza. The taste is good, and maybe only complaint is maybe the high is a little pricey. Once ordered a hibachi meal for my fiancé, he loved it... still felt pricey to me. Still plan on eating here when I have a craving for sushi. I came here this past Sunday with my husband and another couple to grab some lunch. I ordered the nabeyaki udon w/ shrimp tempura and my husband ordered the oyakodon. While the nabeyaki was palatable, it lacked any real depth of flavor and the poached egg that was in it wasn't fresh, evident by the rubbery texture and the green egg yolk. The shrimp tempura was cold, oily, and inedible. When I say it was cold I don't mean that it had been sitting under a heat lamp. It was more like they had pre-fried a bunch of them and set them to the side. When I tried my husband's oyakodon I was disappointed by the overwhelming amount of soy sauce that smothered any other flavors that the dish may have had. Beside the food being less than sub-par, another issue we had was our food all coming out at different times. One person got their meal and then we waited ten minutes before another one came out, and then another five before the rest came out. The waitress we apologized and said she had no idea why the food was coming out so sporadically. Overall, I would not recommend eating here. I would like to be able to say they were just busy and that's why things weren't as they should have been, but with less than half of the dining room being full at the time I just can't. I have never had any allergies or allergic reactions to Fish or Shellfish this is the first time in over 55 years. I've eaten in over 50 sushi restaurants in over 6 countries. This is a Histamine reaction typically when raw fish has not been handled correctly. I am confused by your statement: "I hope you'll consider joining us again to double check our clean restaurant by yourself" You want me to clean your restaurant? Place is clean and large for the space...they kept the bar up front away form the dining area. decor is passable American Japanese...it was 1:00pm when i wandered in so the place was empty other than 3 customers including me. Korean Kimchi Dumpling Soup - good flavor $5.50 was high but then i was brought a tureen of soup...not bad. Dumplings looked like frozen nd tasted like it too. not sure, based on personal experience. Pork Gyoza - $4.95 Gyoza is Gyoza and these are presumably frozen. but okay served neat. New Style Kani Salad - not sure what most of it was...and whether i liked it or not. Seaweed salad on top of what looked to be a mix of soba noodles and julienned vegetables...$5.50 Chicken Yakitori - $4.95...they did a good job..you really have to work hard to make it bad... service was provided by the lone waitress who hovered at times moving in to take dishes away and realizing i was not done. Nice woman but a bit tired it seemed as silverware was dropped on the table as she passed by to get another order...the tea was okay...hard to judge green tea unless its really bad...but it was put down hard on the table and splashed over the sides..had to wipe that up. she seemed to slow down after awhile and smiled more when she noted my use of limited Japanese words and manners... yes I recommend it...yes the food is wroth it..yes the service is good...considering its Waterville...it was mind blowing to find a good Japanese Sushi / Steak House.... personally did not try the Hibachi grill as i am not into the noise and theatrics of the meal...leave me alone at the table to sample the food and enjoy.... the one thing that would have made it better...Asian Traditional music.... oh yeah the bathrooms...other than the cleaning equipment and supplies left in full view..Hazard to small children...the bathrooms are CLEAN AND SPACIOUS!!!! yeah go !
