I walked into Thai Spices and Sushi like I was about to witness a culinary magic trick go horribly wrong. Thai. Sushi. Ramen. Pho. In Waycross. That's not a menu, that's a United Nations meeting. I was fully expecting confusion, chaos, and at least one bad life decision. I was wrong. This place is the real deal. Let's start with the sushi. I ordered the Monster Roll, and honestly, I'd order it again tomorrow without hesitation. Fresh, creative, and actually balanced. Not one of those rolls drowning in sauce trying to cover up a bad situation. This one shows up, does its job, and leaves you thinking about it later. Then came the Chicken Panang Curry. First bite? Lights out. Like, pause mid-conversation and reevaluate your expectations kind of good. Rich, creamy, just the right kick. Now, did every bite hit that same peak? Not quite. It settled into just "really, really good" instead of "life-changing," which is still a win. If I had one gripe, the chicken leaned a little overcooked. But the vegetables were perfect and that sauce absolutely carried the dish. Now the atmosphere... this is where things take a turn. It feels like a sports bar that decided one day it wanted to travel the world. TVs going, energy up, and somehow you're sitting there eating curry and sushi like this is completely normal. It shouldn't work. But it does. And shoutout to my server, Woody. At least that's what the receipt says, and I'm rolling with it. She was fun, efficient, and locked in the whole time. Recommended by the clerk at our hotel, this small downtown eatery was a great find. It was packed and they don't have room for people to stand at the door and wait. It took the waitress a couple of minutes to decide she could take our number and call us when a table was coming vacant. We waited outside on a convenient bench and it was worth it. The miso soup was delicious, but my Sushi was warm :( I was super disappointed because close friends of our recommended this place to us. As soon as I took a bit it was hard to eat warm sushi, and I left with a stomachache that lasted for two days. I love sushi and have never experienced this at a place that offers fresh sushi. As much as my husband and I want to give 5 stars, we just can't. We LOVE the food and we will keep coming back just for the food. It's the ambiance and service that consistently lack in quality. Our first visit was during upgrades in the dining area. Literally during the upgrades. Hammering, tons of noise, and opening the doors which killed the AC (not great in south GA during the summer). But the food!! Best Thai food I've ever had. Better than anywhere in Savannah. We were so pleased that it drowned out the noise. On the second visit, the food continued to be nothing short of wonderful even if they ran out of chopsticks and completely forgot parts of our order. Although they had plum wine, I had one glass on the third reminder to the waitress. The food on our third visit today was even better than the others. I had the basil salmon again and it was perfect. The rice is separate so it stays dry. Perfect grape tomatoes and pineapple on a huge piece of salmon, atop hibachi style veggies. My husband got two rolls and contemplated a third. Yet again, the same waitress completely forgot his squid salad and when reminded about the "salad", brought ginger salad. At the end of dinner she realized her mistake when looking at the bill she handed my husband. She took the salad off before we paid. Overall, the greatest Thai meal, and in Waycross. Great wait staff but I can't say that it is all authentic Thai. Miso soup was good. The chicken satay and Thai lava dishes did not have peanut sauce as expected. They referred to it as their peanut sauce, but I didn't find any hint of peanut. It was more like a teriyaki sauce. They offered to redo the dish, but I declined since the sauce would be the same. The satay wasn't seasoned much either. Wait staff was excellent. Perhaps next time I'll go for the sushi instead. read more

I am shocked that a place like this exists in Waycross. I'm visiting from Jacksonville and it's hard to find vegetarian friendly restaurants around here. I found this place on google and me & my boyfriend love Thai food so we decided to try it out for lunch. The menu is long and has a lot of options - I was extremely happy to see vegetarian egg rolls and pot stickers. We ordered both and they were delicious. For my entree I got the drunken noodles with tofu. It was literally the best tofu I've ever had in my life. It had been fried and blackened, it was so good we will be returning for dinner tonight. 100000% recommend. read more

The waitress was great she split the red snapper entree in two and brought it out to kids so they each through that they got their own. The food was delicious. The sushi was surprisingly good. We stopped by Thai Spice while on our way to Florida--what a treasure! The food was so authentic and the portions were huuge! The Thai dumplings were almost the size of golf balls and loaded with their chicken, shrimp, and pork filling. The Tom Ka soup was loaded with fresh tomatoes, onions and mushrooms in addition to the chicken-we shared it and were full. I had the Thai crispy duck with curry sauce and the noodles that came with it were a meal in itself. The salmon rolls contained so many pieces we couldn't eat any more. Our waitress Brittany was very friendly and helpful. Well worth the stop--when we come back this way again we will definitely return! read more

Ok, We had time today for a day trip to Waycross, GA. Lovely drive 2 hrs. One way from, Jax, FL. We were served by a very attentive young man. Soup with a deep fried CRispy won ton with chicken inside/sweet spicy chili sauce. And a very Nice light rice/chicken broth. I ordered Drunken Noodles with Shrimp. As a veteran of all kinds of Asian food, I know anyone can eat a Thai original, this is a no brainer. But, it's my go to...as for a comparison. This was exceptionally good. Shrimp, cooked perfectly.
