Hi all. I'm reporting about my 1st visit to Thai Time. It was on a cold and windy Monday evening, March 4th. Thanks to the tips I received from the comments of other Yelpers, I had an enjoyable dinner experience. The most valuable tip came from yelper Katie O. who yelped about the restaurant being cold. It was very cold! The tiny stand alone building does have charm but the exposed brick walls have zero insulation so come prepared and ask for a table in the back when you make your reservation if it is cold outside. Other tips that were right on were to try the Tom Yum Goong and the Tom Kha Gai (both $5.00) and the Kha Prow Duck ($24.95) and the Drunken Noodle ($14.00). The soups were delicious and the portions were substantial. Both entrees were too. The duck was especially yummy and very tender. The portion size was perfect. A great balance of crispy, roasted pieces of duck and a sauteed blend of onion, bamboo, snow pea, bell pepper, baby corn, and mushroom in a garlic sauce that I did not find spicy....just tasty! Tips about tasty desserts were accurate. We liked the Thai Iced Tea and the Lava Cake. The only negative of this 1st visit was the cold. It would have been uncomfortable had we not been prepared and dressed for it with hats and scarves and sweaters. The BYOB option is always OK with me and makes me think I am saving money by not wasting it on overpriced drinks. We came prepared with a bottle of Martini Rosso for use as our cocktail as we waited for dinner (maybe 15 minutes) and another as our dinner wine (a chilled Relax Riesling...great with duck and with Thai spice, IMO). I liked it that our waiter immediately brought us wine glasses (and they were glass!) and one sized for a white wine and the other sized for red. Made me feel that he would be attentive to our dinner. The fact that he only brought 2 glasses probably means that he just picked up 2 different sized wine glasses but hey....I can imagine, can't I? There were many interesting sounding entrees and Chef Specials on the menu and Thai Time does take-out and delivery too but there was no online menu when I looked for it! It's location is an easy walk from downtown Binghamton hotels (Days Inn, Holiday Inn) when weather permits. Street parking could be a concern but it was not on the Monday night that we visited. Either was walking in off the street and getting seated with no wait but that situation will undoubtedly change, and soon, as warmer weather happens. The Thai Time offers 6 pricey Chef Specials, which are priced at either $23.95 or $24.95 or Market Price for the crispy fried fish. These meals will get targeted by buisness men and women traveling with expense accounts so I am hopeful that somebody will be yelping back soon about any of these selections, other than the duck, which I am now confirming as being a great meal, even at the lofty price point. Next time I hope to try the Yum Seafood Salad ($10.00) which was described as a mix of shrimp, scallops, squid, and mussels with garlic, lemongrass, onion, scallion, chili paste and lime juice. Yum! Think they will give me the recipe? The menu lists several selections of curry, noodle, and spicy entrees that are much more reasonably priced ($9 to $12.00 for lunch and $11 to $14.00 for dinner). The portion size of the Drunken Noodle was very reasonable. The spice level was too much for my dinner guest so don't be shy about asking that they tune it down one level. I wish you luck, Thai Time! I visit the Binghamton Area on business several times a year and almost always have a need for Thai during my stay. You will compete with the Thai Thai on the East Side and maybe with the very pricey Lemongrass out on the busy Vestal Parkway. Me thinks you be off to a great start by encouraging patronage through the $25.00 gift certificate promo that you offer on the local radio show (WBNG). This could get more people out to sample your pricey specials! I also suggest that you not be in any hurry to open a bar. I like bringing in my own selections of booze. I was really excited to see this place pop up in Binghamton, but really sad that it happened only a few short months before I relocated out of town. But I was fortunately able to take advantage of this great place. I've dined in here once, and gotten take-out at least twice. Service was great when I dined in. A few of the dishes that I've had include the pad thai, the drunken noodles, and pattaya noodles, all with tofu; I would recommend all of them. The thai ice tea was a little on the sweeter side of my preference, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and it was still delicious. There are also menu options on the amount of spice you're comfortable with, which is a nice consideration. I'm not an expert in thai food, but I think the food here is downright delicious, and I would recommend it above most restaurants in the Binghamton area! read more

I wasn't a huge fan of the atmosphere of the restaurant. There is minimal decoration and there are very few windows to see outside. The back room is pretty standard with a few tables with candles, nothing special. Service was ok, as well, keeping in mind we were also the only people in the restaurant at the time. The food, however, was very good(and reasonably priced). The spring rolls as an appetizer are delicious and their fried rice w/ beef had a unique taste with just the right spices to it that I enjoyed. read more

Tried Thai Time today. We were there before the dinner rush and it was quite dead. Service was excellent. The place is nicely decorated. The temperature was cool and comfortable, which was great after being out in the sun and heat of the day. It was also extremely clean...even the bathrooms. We had the chicken curry puffs, vegetarian spring rolls (I think they called them krispy rolls), chicken with red curry and pad thai. Everything was delicious, though the curry puffs were by far the best thing we had. The red curry tasted wonderful but was a little too heavy/creamy for me. The pad thai was a much wetter dish than we are used to, but extremely flavorful. We would definitely go back when we're in Binghamton. read more

I went to Thai Time in the first week it was open. It was 7PM on a weekday and it was busy. We waited fifteen minutes for the hostess to come take our drink orders. She did apologize. We ordered the curry puffs as an appetizer because the waitress said that the sauce for the dumplings had not arrived yet. They were good, not greasy and the sauce that came with them was good. My only complaint was that there were 4 puffs and I wish there was more for your money. I had the green curry and my dining companion had the chicken pad thai. I ordered my green curry at a scale of 2 out of 5 hotness. It was really hot. The vegetables were all cooked well (sometimes I've ordered this other places the vegetables are still crunchy and not cooked). The chicken pad thai was ok, I've had better. It was a little dry in the sauce department and I think that sauce was not as flavorful as I've had before. Service here was slow. Very slow. But it was their first week open, so hopefully they're functioning like a well-oiled machine now. read more

Best Thai food I've ever had... May be the best restaurant in Binghamton. Awesome food, great service, and very reasonable price for the amounts they give you. If you're in the dowtown Binghamton area make sure to check it out and order the Drunken Noodle. read more

The food is really good, and the portions are generous. The price is a little high, but I'm willing to pay it for decent Thai food, especially since I don't have to drive to Ithaca anymore to get it. My suggestion, however, is to get takeout and skip the dining experience, which is pretty bad. The restaurant is freezing; it was hard to enjoy our meal because we couldn't wait to get home to warm up. The waitstaff aren't great, either. They aren't very attentive, and they mixed up our orders. They don't really take their time with you, in the dining room or at the register. I don't like being bothered continuously through a meal, but the waiter didn't stick around long enough to hear our order, which caused the mix-up in the first place. read more

Had a very disappointing lunch there. Salad was undeniably dry with a cucumber that had a thick layer of discoloration due to age and dryness. The lunch itself (Pad Thai without noodles) had chicken, tofu and shrimp on the menu. I thought I had to chose one and choose shrimp. It was close to being in edible with a dry, salty sauce smacked on a few vegetables; the dish also included something like fried dumplings that didn't even respond to a steak knife, so hard. Not sure what was inside. The best part w as that they charged me $3 extra for the shrimp (there were 4 of them). The rational was that because I had chosen to have shrimp only, they added shrimp and therefore had to charge me more than if I had gotten the chicken, tofu and shrimp combo.??? So, instead of $9, I pid $12 for an almost inedible dish. My partner had the drunken noodles which were equally bad. read more

For my taste, at least, the food was very bland even though I asked for extra spicy. And the curry was way too rich having obviously been made with canned coconut milk. If I were to go back I would do what the Asian students I saw there did: order the noodle dishes. read more

A surprising, authentic treat in a lovely spot on the river. A huge menu with lots of variety and customizable options. A great place for long time Thai lovers and rookies alike. The curry puffs are to die for. Sit outside in the nicer months! read more

Went to Thai Time with my family last night and I can say that I am not going back. The owner was yelling at one of his employees (who happened to be my waitress) in front of the entire restaurant and she was a good waitress. To embarrass someone like that in front of so many people was degrading and she did not come back after that. It was unprofessional and I refuse to go back to somewhere that treats their employees this way. read more

Thai Time has great food and atmosphere. The curry puffs are awesome.. Drunken noodles had just the right amount of spice. Only negative remark I would make is its a very long wait for a table, and once seated a long time till your food arrives. Been there twice, each time was just ok. Found that the food was acceptable, yet overpriced compared to the other local thai places. Portions were smaller than excpeted, service was semi slow. Ordered eggplant, pineapple curry, pad se eww, and pho. Besides the pho everything was ordered 3/5 stars, and was not nearly as spicy as it should have been. The pineapple curry was the best dish. The crispy egg rolls were very bland, the calamari was good. Overall it was ok, but its just not worth going back when you can get better thai at better prices elsewhere. read more

One of my fav thai food restaurants in town. I usually have to get the red curry w/chicken out of my craving necessity but I've also had all the fried rices all the appetizers and I'm in love w/chicken satay & pepper shrimp. Also for dinner Pad Thai is always a hit! Even though I've had to stand and wait up front to sit for lunch sometimes the flavor and portion size of their meals always brings me back. The service is always friendly & polite, the restaurant is always tidy and clean and overall the dishes are truly tasty & delish! I'm a Fan! read more

One of my favorite places to go. I've been here numerous times and haven't ordered something I didn't like. The curry puffs or spicy beef salad are great appetizers and the drunken noodles or bomb.com. Place gets busy and staff can be slow so we always make sure we have enough time if we have plans for something following dinner. Outdoor seating is nice if the weather permits but again, service is definitely slower outside. read more

When we arrived around 7:30 pm, we were seated right away when we arrived. There were customers in the back section of the restaurant, but we were the only table in the front section. A waitress gave us our menus right away and then we waited, and waited and waited. We waited so long that another group came in sat down in the same front section of the restaurant and got their appetizers before we saw our waitress again. We waited so long that another waitress came over to ask us if we needed assistance. When our waitress finally reappeared she was apologetic. She took our order and brought our cocktails, which were mediocre, our soups and our main dishes, all at the same time as she quipped, "what is it closing time?" No, it wasn't and no we will not be back! For the record, they forgot our appetizer all together, the food was good, but the awful service made it not worth coming back for. read more

Went here once, and no other place compares. The food is always really good, and they give you A LOT! Staff is very nice and always wanting to help. Prices are good too, and the atmosphere is very relaxing (Downstairs is even better). read more

I enjoy this place. The Thai food is inexpensive, but there isn't as much menu variety as there could be. Why not a green papaya salad? Anyway, they just opened up the downstairs and patio area, it's huge! There's a full bar downstairs too. Maybe my friends and I lucked out but since we were seated near the bar we got great service. Also the new bar is cheapppp! I got a bigass cocktail for $4.50, had the bartender surprise me. I don't know if those prices will last so enjoy while you can! read more

Disclaimer, i am a Thai snob. Fantastic ambiance, wonderful service and great food. My wife and I had the green curry--a great dish here. If you like it spicy ask for it as a two or three. Some of the best Thai out of Ithaca. Can't wrong here. Enjoy!! read more

Went here for the first time. Nice space,the building is deceptively small looking from the outside, inside is a clean modern space that goes on forever. Seated right away and we ordered apps before dinner that came out nice and hot and were delicious. Main course was delicious and generous in portion size.I took half of mine home with me. Will be back. A nice menu alternative to other Asian cuisines in the area. read more

I absolutely love Thai time. I am a native New Yorker city resident and I can honestly say they make the best Thai food I've ever had! The yellow curry is unreal especially. The view is beautiful and the outdoor seating is so nice. Also the prices are pretty decent! It's a great place for date night! read more

Nothing on menu is vegetarian. Servers are not consistent in their responses. After years of going there it was finally told to me by a server (and then fact checked with the owner) that all their sauces etc are made using chicken broth. This is true even got items requested to be made vegetarian. I would not trust any information coming from this place and I will not be eating there again. read more

I'm just happy to have found a decent Thai option in the Binghamton area. They're a tad pricier than comparable places I've been, and the service was a bit slow, but everyone was friendly enough, the vibe was good, and the food was very tasty. Best Drunken Noodles I've ever had, and I travel a lot for work! Regular isn't too spicy so add some heat.

A hidden gem! Did not expect to find this cute place in downtown Binghamton but there it was. Very nice inside with wood floors and brick. We sat on the outdoor deck which was nicely furnished. My curry was great as was my daughter's shrimp pad thai. The waitress realized she had brought me the wrong curry when I was halfway through so brought the correct one out. Of course I was too full to eat it so I packed it away. Will return! read more

Food is great but service....not so good; unless your a college student. Last three times I swear students got in and got served first. Last time I was there we sat down and tables on both sides were empty, students came in after, got food before us and left before us. I'll do take out but that's it! read more

I went to this restaurant for the first time on Saturday night. This is the only Thai food in Binghamton that I know of. It's conveniently located near Downtown Binghamton. The food that I ordered was okay, kind of tasted generic but had a hint of Southeast Asian spices in it. The service was pretty quick. They have $11-$16 dishes and $25 for specialty dishes, The Thai Iced Tea was very interesting and it is worth a try! I gave it 5 stars not because it was perfect, but because it has a pretty good standard for Binghamton. read more

Excellent food and service. They even offer the choice of the spicy level for your dish from 1-5. We had the Spicy Bamboo & Pineapple Curry at 3 spiciness which was excellent. I recommend this place and will be back again. read more

Inconsistency is the rule here. TT's service is consistently shaky; the restaurant seems to hire the young and inexperienced. Order taker asked me to spell "Tom Kha Gai." Ordered old favorites Tom Kha Gai and a few curry dishes (Massaman, yellow, green, and red). The soups, ordered with medium heat, were bland with large chunks of celery and cabbage inexplicably included (not the usual recipe). The curry dishes, also asked with some heat varied from medium to hot spiciness with less than a typical serving of rice. read more
