    The Soco chicken sandwich
    Zach H.

So here's another if you're from Binghamton you're no stranger to a spiedie but if you're not from Binghamton you won't know what it is or how to spell it. I came here for dinner and ironically didn't get a spiedie sub which they have many variations of! I got the Soco fried chicken sandwich and an order of onion rings and a drink and it came to $16 and change. I usually get this sandwich without the slaw but today I tried it with and it tastes the same but adds a little extra crunch which I don't mind. The soco is a piece of fried chicken boneless of course with a chipotle sauce spicy pickles and spicy slaw but not so spicy you want to chug a water and it's absolutely delicious!the onion rings were crunchy but not burnt and you get a lot for a regular order and even more for a large same for the fries. Now if you've gotten this far and still wondering what a spiedie is it's a marinated piece of chicken but not normal chicken it's fantastic and it has a good char and basically it's Binghamton's baby!. Spiedie and rib pit also holds a lot of history here and at some point as a kid I was told about some feud in the family there is a relation to Lupo's (another spiedie place) as they have a quote from grandpa Lupo himself on the wall. Anyway I waited about 10 minutes max and my food was brought to the table so not a long wait but if you want to get in and out I suggest ordering ahead online but for sit down it was no trouble. Inside there is quite a large amount of seating for 1 person all the way to 8 people. Often in the afternoon you can catch people from the sheriffs office getting lunch . There is wonderful lighting the kind that sets the tone but is also decorative it's cozy but not small but also like wow they really know what they're doing it's a great vibe. This is personally a home town favorite for me and many others so if you're in Binghamton and looking for somewhere casual look no further 100% recommend this location specifically too!

I love their sandwiches. Service is quick and the cashier was helpful and friendly. Everything is reasonably priced. It is nice and clean inside with comfortable seating options and a couple benches to wait for to go orders. I did find the potato salad to be bland. Not horrible, but not something I would pick again. The cole slaw leans on the sweeter side which isn't my preference but I know it is popular. I personally prefer the spicy slaw on the fried chicken sandwich. The mac and cheese was nice and cheesy with al dente pasta. The ribs were saucy and smokey with good flavor but not fall off the bone tender. The pulled pork sandwich was sauced well with a good smoke flavor but not overpowering, and a big portion. All the sandwiches had a lot of meat.

3.5 stars. Slightly healthier fast food joint. Easy stop with the kids. Salad was good - the chicken was a bit dry and hard. Pita was hard and cold Ribs were good Potato salad is okay Nuggets were thin, not bad.

Excellent sandwich! My brother from Philly wanted you to try something local when traveling through Binghamton. So, I had to try it on my next trip through from Rochester to Philly, after I recommended it to him! It'll be a regular stop on that route!

Great place to stop for a bite in binghamton! We were in town for the Luma festival and wanted to grab food first. This place had great reviews and it didn't disappoint. The BBQ was some of the best we've ever had! The ribs are seriously fantastic. I personally would skip the Spiedie next time. We got some on bread and some on a salad. It was just too dry and not really my taste (for anyone wondering, it's similar to kebab chicken!) Service was quick and friendly, plenty of seats, clean bathrooms, casual family friendly atmosphere. We'd definitely be back for the ribs! Come early for dinner, by the time we left around 6:30pm on a friday the line was out the door.

Spiedie and Rib Pit is a local spot my family and I always really enjoyed stopping at when we were in the Binghamton area. After moving out of state, I hadn't been in several years. When I recently was going to take a bus to Binghamton, I knew I had to stop by. My grandparents and I were initially confused when we parked since we didn't know Spiedie and Rib Pit was in a new building! However, we quickly realized the situation and walked over. We took a moment to look at the menu then ordered. I ended up opting for a 6 inch plain chicken spiedie with a side of mac salad. We received a number and went to sit down. After a few minutes the food came out. Everything was so delicious. It was even better than memory had served. Honestly the new dining room is great since it provides a lot more room than previously allowed by the old building. MY grandparents and I all had a sandwich with a mac salad then even had rice pudding for dessert -- everything was perfect. I'm really happy to say that Spiedie and Rib Pit delivered beyond nostalgia for a really delicious meal. I would 100% stop again when I find myself in the area. Highly recommend!

southern-tier staple! I never actually had a spiedie out and about. I instantly recognized the old Pizza Hut style building, but it was completely different and cozy inside! We got a Caprese & a Spiedissimo, the Spiedissimo was the favorite with lots of classic peppers & onions with the juicey marinade. The fries were soo salty, perfect for the occasion.

Stopped by this local spot on the way back home to Toronto from New York. What a gem! These spiedies are so unique and flavourful! Be prepared to get a bit messy though! Haha. The sides are also bomb, we had the potato salad and cheese fries to go with our spiedie! We saw the other table order wings and a salad and both looked so good we couldn't resist and ordered the wings as well. They were huge, the portions were great and the amount of sauce they gave was chefs kiss! I'm a saucy girl and this definitely checked all my boxes. Will have to drop by again during our next road trip!

I sadly are my delicious food before I even thought to take a picture lol. Great, easy sandwich spot! The menu is simple enough but enough of a variety the whole family will find something they like. I got the buffalo sandwich with a side of ranch, onion rings and a side of Mac salad. I do with the sandwich was a little spicier and had more blue cheese but the flavor was on point. The meat was seasoned to perfection and I added ranch on it which took it to the next level. The onion rings were fried to perfection and I could tell them were made in house. I would go back just for the onion rings. The staff was friendly, patient as I figured out the menu and the vibe is simple but fairly spacious enough for a group.

The signature sandwiches of Binghamton NY is the Spiede. It's a must have when riding through. I've been to those places many times busy a few years ago they moved into a stand alone and expanded their menu. Wowee!!!! If you are reading this you'd better goer here and bring your appetite because the sandwiches are ginormous!!! Mega Awesome

Had the ribs, they were ok, nice smoked bbq flavor but not the fall off bone baby back type i prefer. They also were room temp, not hot. The onion rings and brussel sprouts were hot and pretty tasty. All in all, it's not a bad place, I would call it more geared toward being a sandwich shop than a trtraditional bbq place. I would go here again, but only if I was in the area and needed to stop. I wouldn't go out if my way to go here though. Food seems to be good quality and place is mostly clean, rustic wood floor type atmosphere. I would rate it 3.5 stars.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive but that was really the only positive. There were 6 of us and we started with the calamari appetizer and charcuterie board. The charcuterie board was fine nothing too exciting but the calamari was super salty so most of us did not enjoy it. Then we had our soups and salads. Everyone enjoyed their salads but I tried the lobster bisque which was an additional cost and it was very disappointing. The puff pastry on top made the presentation nice and the flavor was decent but there was no lobster chucks at all in it which was not what im used to at a steak house. Next came our meals which 4 of us ordered the filets and 2 were sent back immediately because they were so salty they couldn't eat it. Mine seemed to have a lot of pepper which i didnt care for but I didn't experience the salt issue so i did not send mine back. Another guest had salmon which she was enjoying until she found a metal coil in it. When we showed/told the waitress what was going on with the meals she took them back but and the people with steaks were given new steaks without the seasoning but no real apology was given. It's really disappointing that management or someone didn't even come to apologize especially for the metal coil because had she eaten that it could have really caused an issue. We were given a few things off the bill but our bill was still over $500 and when you pay that kind of money you expect to really enjoy your meals. The ambiance is nice there and they have potential but after our experience we definitely wont likely be going back. The two that sent their steaks back still cant even think about steak after this experience.

And lastly, extremely fair pricing - I'd go so far as to say great Ang for the buck for the quality and quantity. We were visiting Binghamton from NJ so this a review from a first-timer. From the moment we walked in, the staff behind the register and in kitchen were all super friendly, patient, accommodating, and seemed to appreciate their customers. From the looks of it, have a steady carry out local customer-base so there was ample seating so no wait and service was quick for a late Saturday lunch. As for the food - it was straight well-cooked, moist bbq. It had a perfect amount of smoky flavor and very savory while not too salty. We had the brisket, ribs, and smoked turkey. The briskets practically disintegrated as soon as I put my fingers on them. It comes with a side of horseradish sauce which paired perfectly. The ribs were fall off the bone and dry rub (I believe) which I prefer. And my favorite - and sometimes hard-to-find - the smoked turkey was absolute perfection. Not over or under powering. Just the right amount of smoky flavor. I didn't need to add sauce to any of the meats to enjoy them. The onion rings were perfectly fried - crunchy with thick cuts of onion. While my son and I were split on the Mac n cheese (which was definitely good anyway you look at it), my son liked it more than I did. The best side IMO is their baked beans. It was acidic and less sweet in a good way and tasted like no other BBs I've had. I'm not sure I'll have another reason to be up in Binghampton again, but I will so be going here again if I ever do. I did want to try the fried catfish so hopefully a trip will come its way.
