I am a huge fan of Thai massage. Jin provides a a great combo massage that combines the great stretching of Thai with the relaxation of Swedish massage. She is polite, professional, and great at what she does. She is able to apply good pressure despite her petite frame. She is attentive to your needs and responses to her pressure. I have been seeing Jin for a couple of years now. I always go for the 90 minute combination massage and have never been disappointed. I prefer a good strong massage and Jin provides that and more. She works and stretches every muscle. The after affects usually hits me about two hours after leaving and I can feel my entire body reacting to the the work out that she put me through. I do find it hard to go back to work after seeing Jin. I just want to kick back and enjoy how relaxed my body is, but most of the time, it is back to the office. I have seen other providers in the city and around the country but none compare to the quality of the massage at Thaitastik. Plus the prices are very reasonable. My entire body was sore especially my neck and she did an amazing job on the shoulders neck and lower back. My wife and I had a lovely massage at Thaitastik on Saturday morning! I had Amp, who is currently new and offering a $65/hour special. When you walk in, you're kindly offered warm tea or water. You're also offered a set of loose top and bottoms (think medical scrubs, much much roomier). Amp offered a great massage, working deep knots in between my shoulder blades and neck. A combination of deep tissue and traditional Thai massage (using knees, toes, any body appendage essentially). We both walked away refresh, loose, and feeling amazing. I love coming out here. Definitely helpful when you're very sore, like after running a marathon or you've been lifting a lot. The Thai-combo massages were great, and recently I feel like they've gotten better. I've had a great experience coming here, though be forewarned that you might hear some of the horns blaring if you're coming here during rush hour. COVID Update - Like anyone, I was super concerned about getting a massage during the pandemic. And Thaitastik was closed for many months while everyone was getting the hang of things. Now, though, I think they are doing everything that can be done to deliver a much-needed service - needed all the more so because of the many hours of neck-aching desk time I've logged. Here are the things they're doing to keep us safe: - limited sessions to 1 hr. - staggered schedule to minimize contact and leave time to clean the rooms - limited number of customers per day - thorough cleaning of the rooms, including disinfectant and UV light - you wear a mask and a Thai massage outfit; the therapist wears mask and gloves - there is a strict "no talking" policy while in the room. You're pretty well isolated from the therapist, and yet they are able to deliver the same consistently high-quality service that they have given for many years. It may be riskier than staying home, but I believe it's safer than going to a bar or restaurant. And so much more therapeutic. read more

Booked at Thaitastik because of the great reviews and the office being close to my work place. It was very easy to make an appointment as you can do it via text or email. I opted for the 60 minute thai with Jin who clearly knows her stuff. The massage was strong and she spent time on the places where I clearly needed it the most. I left feeling energized but also looser in trouble spots. As the other reviews have noted, this isn't a fancy day spa but rather a place for high quality theraputic massage. So if you need fancy robes and slippers and lots of oils...this isn't the place for you. If you want a great massage that hurts so good at points, then you will be happy. This is regarding a "Thai" massage I received beginning of September. I was so heated after it that I never bothered to write a review because of how long this was going to be, and I already had a horrible weekend. It begins with the masseuse completely not understanding what areas need attention. I even ranked it so she could know how to use her time. I said my 1) hips, 2) "my lumbar" (pointing to my lower back), then 3) my neck. She said okay, then told me to undress and she'll be back. I was like hmm ok because I thought Thai massage you can leave your clothes on, but maybe they did it differently. About 1 MINUTE IN, she comes in in the middle of me undressing and asks if I'm ready. Clearly, I'm not. So she says ok, and comes back in an unreasonable time about 1 MINUTE. I said in still removing my undergarments and silencing my phone! Then unbelieveably, she WALKS IN while I'm still undressing and says "okay I'll help you". I'm like WTH?!? And she sits on the floor with a towel blocking her view of me, so that I can undress quickly. How is this professional?? If I was smart, I would have left right then, but I figured whatever I really need a good stretching and 2 others already cancelled for reasons outside of me. She spends a a huge chunk of time massaging my ass....how the hell does this review sound so far??? And painfully DEEP pressure, NOT THAI style AT. ALL. So I stop her maybe 10-15 min and ask her why she's spending so much time in a place I didn't ask for, she said because "I pointed towards there", and I said I said my LUMBAR area, my lower back!" She says oh ok well I thought because pointed there you wanted it there. She continues with torturous massage that does not feel good, and in lying on the ground feeling defeated yet getting sooooooooooooooooooo agitated. 30 min in she kept doing deep tissue massage on my bottom and my neck, completely ignoring the hips and lumbar stretch that I asked for. I stopped her and I said "what about those stretches....the ones where you put your feet here and pull me back??" She says oh ok and does it, but in a way that didn't feel relieving (WAY too much pulling in my shoulders and not enough pushing my lumbar; thought she was gonna damage my shoulders.) The rest of the massage time is me guiding her ridiculous ass on what I told her from the start, now realizing she doesn't understand English well and is a regular everyday masseuse who just slapped on "Thai massage" on their title. I was so stupid stupid stupid to continue the session and endure that 60 minutes of kcufery. I should have never paid, I left just wanting to cry because I hated Thai massage at this point...NOBODY in the area wants to do it right. I received a 10 min sample at a yoga studio (which felt like HEAVEN) and wanted to receive one from them, but they don't have them on Sundays. That's how I ended up at this shady establishment. Do NOT bother with this place. They have no sense of decency and are completely inauthentic in their work of Thai massage. God I wish I can get my money back. read more

Kwan is the best! I had lived in multiple cities and getting a weekly/bi-weekly massage is kind of my routine. That being said, I've seen a wide range of massage therapists, and the first time I booked with Kwan I could tell she is good- she has magical hands, without giving any instructions she can identify my sorest areas that need the most treatment and applies just the right amount of pressure. The stretches are also amazing that definitely relieves my pain and tiredness after. She is also super nice to communicate with. One word: Ouch-so-good! This is far and away the best place I've been to on the East Coast for a massage. The skill level of their masseurs is unbelievable, and each is different in their own way. I like Kwan for really deep tissue body work. It's clean, the people are super friendly, and the setup is great, private, and serene. I've been here probably 10+ times and hope to remain a customer for years. No walk-ins, but booking is easy by emailing their gmail account on their website a day or two in advance, but I've also had good success emailing on the same day. You can get a sense of what time they might be able to book you by looking at their calendars on their website. If you like lying face-down, ask when you enter the room and they'll hook you up with one of those face rings, making it a bit easier on the neck. Please keep doing what you are doing! If you are in need of a some real body work, this place is it! It's not your normal head in the whole, water sounds, flip half way through massage. You lay on a 6 inch pad on the floor, they crawl on top of you and stretch you for extra awesomeness. I'm talking like side twists and legs over your head (obviously as far as they'll go) and really working your knots. You'll be sore after, have some Advil handy -- epsom salt baths help too! The setting was very nice - rooms quiet and peaceful and tastefully decorated. The prices are very reasonable. The location - right near Dupont - is great and very convenient. My therapist was friendly and pleasant and had a pretty good touch. I would recommend her for a relaxing or invigorating massage. I would not rank it at the level of a great or therapeutic massage though, that is a whole different level. The impression was that the toolbox of techniques to deal with people with different body types/preferences was a little limited. I specifically requested Thai massage only, and had to insist on it since it seems that the more normal practice here is a combination Thai/deep tissue - even after I nonetheless she did some deep tissue moves which I personally found aggravating (understanding that many people may enjoy that kind of work) - she did stop when requested and did not take offense. read more

There is a reason for all the five star reviews; this place is great. I booked an appointment with Ann and she was amazing. Its been a while since my last massage and this was exactly what I needed. First; you arrive and go down to the basement. I got there a little early and the door to the office was locked. I was a little nervous but seeing as I was early I decided to wait and see. Ann came and let me in and it turns out she was alone in the office giving a massage so she locked the door for security, totally makes sense and I appreciate that. I go in and she offers me tea or water while she sets the room up. The place was clean and cute and smelled very nice. After taking off my clothes and laying down everything is kind of a blur of amazingness. I had really (really really) tight shoulders and upper back and Ann got that worked out right away. I also have these weird areas on my back where if you touch them I twitch. At first Ann was worried that she was hurting me but once I told her to just go ahead and that the pressure wasn't to hard she seemed to grow accustomed to the twitches. This is really a full body massage. I have been to massages that say they are full body but they are not. This was. all my back, my legs, my hips (which are always sore when its cold), feet, hands, head. It was perfect. Also, as I think someone else mentioned, they are working on you for the full appointment time- no laying there with heat pads "warming up" for fifteen minutes prior. Finally, this is just something that is specific to me but I HATE being told to relax. I tense up from time to tim (ok, I am a pretty tense person) and I hate it when someone is working on me and I forget to relax my shoulders and they tell me to relax them. Ann never did that. I know there were times when i stiffened up (I mentioned the twitching) and I know there are times when my shoulders crept towards my ears but Ann just repositioned me and kept working until I was too jelly-like to tense up any more anyway. read more

After researching, a variety of massage parlors, I made my decision on "Thaitastik" and for the record I admire any massage parlor for putting in effort to give someone a massage, it's not easy work! However for a first time experience, I had to rate it 4 stars because I didn't feel much less relaxed afterwords. Perhaps my expectations were too ahead of myself. Nonetheless, I left happy just for treating myself and the very petite lady(don't recall her name) but she was very friendly and talkative( good conversation) good enough I'm willing to give it another try. $65 is the standard 1hour massage or you can go for $85 to get the warm towel treatment. I have been going to Thaitastik for more than year now so this review is well overdue. I always see Kwan and my Boyfriend goes to Amp. They are both very good. It's a bit pricey for Thai massage compared to California but well worth it and it's comparable in the DMV area. These ladies work hard and care about what they do. Kwan has a motherly touch that will make you feel at ease she takes her time and I always feel reborn each time I leave Thaitastik. Try them out and you'll be hooked. They have no fancy waiting area or spa setting but if you need a traditional massage this is where you need to go. read more
