Saw this place on the way to a friends house. I've always kept fish in my house, but the selection and diversity of aquatic life here was amazing. The place is divided between salt water and freshwater displays, and there are dozens of species of fish, coral, crustaceans and rock available for purchase. The owner is extremely well educated in aquatic life, and he is always available to give you an expert opinion. I talked to him for a bit, and he told me that he also does custom tank designs and is willing to contract himself out. He also mentioned he has crafted all the displays himself, which were pretty professionally put together. They also have shelves stacked with different types of additives and vitamins for the health of your fish, and the owner has a tank just for live rocks and another for corals. If you're a freshwater or salt water enthusiast, this is the place to go. read more

AVOID. Sold me fresh water shrimp with fungus infection so I called them with a week. Owner Jamal claimed his shrimp are clean, healthy. Well duh. He gave me the bad one. Going to Petco from here on out. They have much better customer service. read more

Healthy fish, friendly people: two things I want from an aquarium store. I get that here at That Aquarium Place. Owner and the "hired help" were all friendly and informative. They even helped us get the confidence to try out pea puffers. I am beyond happy with those little guys. They are too darned cute and definitely are fun to watch. This store had lots of dead fish in their saltwater tanks and a large amount of their fish had ich. Their coral tank had a fish carcass floating around which just looks bad when you sell fish and can't maintain your own tanks or care for the fish you're selling properly. I was personally upset because I've had an encounter with ich from a fish I purchased from a different store which caused me to lose 3 fish in total. Some just starting out in the hobby may not know about ich or what signs to look for, or to treat new fish with copper in a quarantine tank to save themselves the headache of infecting their tank with ich. So be prepared if you want to purchase a fish from this store you will need to quarantine and medicate it before adding it to your main tank. On the other hand the store had a large variety of corals, some in big colonies that were very reasonably priced and their salt was cheaper than where I purchase online. read more

We had such a fantastic experience here a couple of weeks ago! Morgan was so much help! My wife and I are complete noobs with this hobby and had a million questions because we wanted to setup our very first saltwater aquarium. When we walked in, we were greeted right away and Morgan helped us and answered every single one of our questions. She never once made us feel unwanted or dumb. Update: upgrading my review by one star. The owner contacted me to apologize and explained the why the store doesn't have water available on Tuesdays- also, he informed me that their store policy on water has since been updated. Jamal (the owner) has always been friendly and gone out of his way to help us. The livestock is the healthiest around. Unfortunately, one very rude employee/volunteer ruined years of fantastic service for us in one day. I realize people have bad days, which is why I am updating my review. We used to come into this store all the time. (We bought our original set up and all of our fish from here) Recently, they permanently lost our business when an employee wouldn't sell us saltwater on a Tuesday. (Yes, we rarely came in during the week and we were not aware of this no water on Tuesday policy) We were forty-five minutes from our new home and my saltwater fish were in a container in my car! (We were moving and all the animals including the fish were in my vehicle!) The employees inflexibility and his "sorry not sorry" attitude were not what we had experienced from the owner or his employees in past years. Little did this salesman know, we were also shopping for a larger aquarium set up to go in our new home. Their loss. The salesperson sent us to a another store 20 min south WAY out of the way. This store sold us the water AND they were extremely helpful in finding us a new large set up. read more

I've been to every LFS in the greater Houston area and this is far and away the best. Best service, most knowledgeable staff, great prices, and an inventory that is constantly refreshed. The fish are healthy and varied. When I went to pick up some plants for a new tank, one of the employees took the time to actually map out a landscape design! Discover this place about a year ago, and I'm glad I did! I no longer have to drive myself down to southwest area to buy my fish. The owner, Jamal definitely knows his fish and will answer any questions that you may have. Fish are always healthy and never had a problem when I brought them home. Only problem with a fish was an arrawana that I purchased but Jamal was able to help me out on it.
