I've had the spicy sloppy joe and the chicken kebab wrap. I like the joe but so far the chicken is my favorite. The humus side is huge, but you only get one piece of flat bread to dip into it. My sisters and I went to the Lebanese place for lunch and I can honestly say that wasn't too bad. My sister didn't care for particularly only because it wasn't necessarily their type of food I thought it was quite good I enjoyed the homemade bread with the hummus that was very good I did get it another piece of dessert that they had there and that was quite good and I enjoyed the lamb. The waitress was very nice and the business wasn't completely overstaffed or that wasn't too full it's a nice atmosphere I probably would go back and try maybe something a little bit different we didn't quite care for the appetizers they were a little bit hard but it was overall good I would give it a fry to five stars read more

This was our first visit to this restaurant. The highs: the hummus was extremely good. Fresh, chilled, with great spice and finished off with a good quality olive oil. The restaurant was comfortable and service was friendly and prompt. On a Saturday night at 7:00, there were two other tables of 2, so the server wasn't overworked. The mediocre: The chicken shawarma was flavorful, but it was the smallest shawarma I've ever had. Normally overstuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, and picked turnips, this one was built on very thin pita bread and then seemed to be put into a panini press. Not bad, and really well priced at $5.99 for the sandwich, but different than what you'd expect if you've eaten shawarma before. The beef kabob sandwich was full of well seasoned meat, but it was pretty chewy. Also put through the panini press. The disappointments: The pita bread served with the hummus was cold. Like, refrigerator cold. The appetizer would have been significantly better if it had been warmed. The cauliflower appetizer was well seasoned, and the accompanying sauce was great, but the cauliflower was tepid. I don't know if it was cooked first and then cooled off while the other dishes were being prepared or what, but it needed to be hot. Also, $6.99 for 5 cauliflower florets (each bite size) is a bit steep. Great price for an appetizer, but double the portion, please! It's CAULIFLOWER! Can't speak for dessert, as they MIRAMAR delivery of some ingredients was delayed so they were out of all dessert items. Summary: There's a lot more on the menu we want to try, so we'll return. $30 for a meal that was definitely made from scratch was worth it. OMG, this was my best meal before heading back home from business trip. I quickly googled to find a good ethnic restaurant and this one popped up. So, I decided to try it out in downtown Springfield. Wow, this really was good and believe me when I say that the lamb kebob, grape leaf wraps, and falafel platter was the best. The service was pretty good and fast too. The waitress was good to help me pick out a meal. The ambience was really quite nice with some interesting ethnic music. I took a detour on my road trip to come here when reading its positive reviews left me craving falafel. I came in for a to-go order and the owner and his staff were very friendly. The layout of the restaurant is very cute. The restaurant was oddly...empty...for 5 pm on a Friday. That said, I would have loved to have time to sit at the bar, have a drink, and just chill with some apps, but alas, the road was calling! I ordered the falafel sandwich and That Lebanese Salad. I have had better and I have had worse. The pita was sprinkled with a cinnamon mixture, which awesome, and the size of the sandwich was remarkable. I was disappointed in the texture of the sandwich--the falafel was mushy on the outside and there was no crispy veggie component. I missed the refreshing tanginess that I usually experience with tahini sauce--but this may be because I am not familiar with Lebanese variations of Mediterranean food. That Lebanese Salad was not a leafy romaine salad, which surprised me. There were small pieces of chopped romaine in what was a predominantly cucumber-and-tomato salad doused in an oily vinaigrette. I also dig the fact that this used to be a bar/soda shop of some kind and they successful remolded it into a cute lebanese cafe. The owner was doing a lot of the front of the house stuff and seemed very nice. I do not profess to know what place Joshua C. went to, but this is far from "pretentious," I didn't have to pay anything extra for pita chips, and I - while not having "traveled the parts of the world that inspired this food" (whatever that means) - have had significantly worse mediterranean food in cities with much larger populations from that part of the globe. read more

Went for lunch yesterday and had the lunch combo lamb kebab sandwich with baba ghanouj and portions of their lebanese bread as my side. The baba ghanouj was delicious; perfectly creamy with some remaining chunks of eggplant and a rich, smokey flavor. I wish the bread would have been warmed when delivered to the table and also wish for one more square of bread to go with the side. I was rather liberal with my baba ghanouj topping my bread and had a decent amount remaining at the end. I considering just eating it with my fork but wanted to save room for my sandwich. That being said, had I had another square of the bread, I would have most likely continued filling myself up. As for the sandwich. The lamb was well cooked and had great flavor. The other ingredients (tomato, lettuce, and tahini maybe?) were fantastic with a unique combination of spices. I really enjoyed it and promptly contacted the boyfriend to let him know that we'd be venturing out to Commercial Street soon for some tasty Lebanese food. Wil be ordering falafel on my next visit for sure. When it comes down to it, could/did I have had better Mediterranean and Lebanese food when in Chicago? Yes, without question. The variety of ethnic establishments there was wonderful. Am I beyond thrilled that Springfield proprietors are of the belief that not everyone in Springfield is only interested in foods within the realm of "insert chain restaurant here"? Yes, without question. A Lebanese food truck in Springfield? I love this. It's owned by a very kind Lebanese man & his wife...& from what I can tell, it's the real thing. Loved my beef shish kebab sandwich. Great bread (i.e. wrap) with fresh veggies/beef/etc. Loved it. Good prices too (got a deal on the combo with a Facebook check-in). I got the combo meal...not a big fan of the crinkle fries (probably had some when I was in Beirut, but don't remember), hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. I've heard they may substitute those. Will try next time. However, I got a falafel for free as the wait is a bit long as they're just opening. I understand the wait as it's a brand new place. I hope they succeed wildly. I absolutely loved my meal here! In town for work and stopped in for dinner. I ordered the kabob combo (your choice of 3 kabobs) and I selected 2 chicken and 1 lamb. Both were amazing! The garlic sauce is wonderful. The meal was served with plenty of rice, pita bread, and choice of salad. Service was great and a man I assumed to be the owner but also appeared to be cooking, visited with all of the customers. You could tell he is passionate and proud of this wonderful restaurant. Drove past this place about a week ago and got really excited. I moved to Springfield about 10 year ago from New York and I've missed having easily accessible Lebanese food. Decided to give it a try tonight. My roommate has never had Lebanese before so I decided to grab the quintessentials. Falafel, beef kabob, lamb kabob, baba ganouj, and tabouli. Like other reviewers the owners gave me some freshly cooked falafel to snack on while I waited for my order to finish up. It wasn't much of a wait though, even with someone else ordering before me I had my food freshly cooked, wrapped up, and in my hands in about 7 minutes. My one gripe (this is sarcasm btw), they saw I brought my dog and told me I had to give one of the free falafels to him (I don't think I've ever seen him eat something that fast). It's the little things like this that go a long way for me: the owners are incredibly nice, their kids are adorable (they were running and playing near the truck). Got the food home, it was a little cold after the drive (foil instead of paper would go a long way) but still unbelievably delicious. Some of the best I've ever had and very authentic. My roommate loved it as well; I cannot recommend That Lebanese Place enough. read more

It was perfect for a cold rainy evening. For dessert I tried the cheese baklava and I wish I had more after I finished my last bite!! The service was amazing! I don't know why it took me so long to try this place. I had a great experience and wonderful food. I was there with my wife and 3 other folks and we were all happy. I like Lebanese food and this was as good as any I have had in London or New York. The owner Alie makes a special effort to great every table and spend a little time. He does a great quick intro to Lebanese food to help new comers. My wife tried the Sharma which was good but was not really a hit for her. She is not a fan of most of the spices used in Middle Eastern food. I think she will be happier with kabobs next time. I had Keftas both beef and chicken and they were very good. The entrees were served with basmati rice. I had the platter so I had stuffed grape leaves and falafel as well, very good food. I will be back to try the burger that I have heard so much about. Yes I am wishing I was there for a burger, some falafel and cold Almaza beer. If your a beer drinker don't miss the Almaza a great beer! Nice little find on a corner of C Street, complete with an authentic menu. They were all out of baba gnoush for our appetizer and offered up their hummus with fresh pita slices and some that were fried up into pita chips. The kicker, though, was a sample bowl of the meat and peppers used for their Pepper Joe Sandwich (think Lebanese sloppy joe). The hummus and meat mixture was delish. We enjoyed that a little too much (my college age daughter says the hummus was "to die for!") and couldn't finish the entrees. No question about portion size--they serve plenty of food! We both got the shawarma--beef for her, chicken for me--served on rice with strips of sliced tomato and chopped lettuce on the side. The crumbled meat was well seasoned and very tasty. Just wish I had room to finish it! We both opted for That Lebanese Salad as the side, although the Lentil Soup was tempting. I visited this place yesterday for lunch with another couple. Let me say the food was delicious! They clearly greeted familiar faces warmly and visited with them. Our service was friendly, but there was only 2 servers and a manager/owner? for the entire place and every table was full when we were there. It was freezing cold outside, so we ordered hot drinks, none of which were delivered until the food came. Or should I say until the food for three of us arrived. The other couple and I ordered lentil soup (and a tabbouleh) which all took about 15 minutes to arrive. Lentil soup=delish, a nice big bowl you could make a light meal of. My friend and I ordered the Lebanese tea (tea subtly flavored with cardamom), which was very lovely. He also remembered her creamer and brought sugar as well. We had a hard time getting refills on tea, even though the table next to us had a full pot just for two people. Maybe they ordered it instead of cups?? After about 5 minutes my fries and her fried pita chips arrived. The fries were amazing--hand cut and sprinkled with a delicious seasoning (not spicy). Everything was hot and delicious. My husband ordered a Lebanon cabernet sauvignon, which he enjoyed. My friend ordered a sweet Lebanese wine, which she liked as well. At this point, my husband had finished his wine, we had all eaten, the two tables next to us had ordered, eaten, paid, and left, and my husband still had no food. We inquired about it and the waiter says, "oh, it's ready," like he knew it all along and had just been waiting for us to ask for it. When it arrived, That Lebanese Burger was wrapped in wax paper, so it was hot and fresh. His fries were cold, so I asked for another plate, which the guy was happy to bring, and did in a timely manner. The burger looked great, and my hub enjoyed trying something new. When his fries arrived, they were awesome and hot. All in all, if you want great food and aren't in a hurry, go for it. I would wait until it warms up if you don't want to freeze. When we paid, our bill was $21, including tax. We had been there so long the place had cleared out and our server offered us "o go" cups of Lebanese tea, which we happily accepted. It tasted so fresh and delicious and I loved the pickled turnips inside the amazing pita! Also, this is the only real pita I've had in Springfield. Been wanting to try this place for a while. The first time we went to this place, it was a Tuesday and we didn't realize they close on Tuesdays, so we ate at another restaurant nearby. It's difficult for my husband and I to have lunch together because of our busy work schedules. But alas, we managed to visit That Lebanese place. The restaurant is nice and you can smell the spices as you walk in. My husband ordered That Lebanese Platter ($18.99) and the waitress suggested I try the Chicken Shawarma ($11.99). Each entrée you'll have a choice of soup or salad. We both had the soup, which was Lentil Soup. The soup was delicious, but I'm not sure if it was supposed to be served cold? The soup was not warm at all, but it tasted delicious. As my husband said, it taste better than the Lentil Soup we made. My husband loved his entree, its a tad pricey but it was worth it considering the great flavor. The waitress suggestion on the Chicken Shawarma was on point. The spices were just to die for, it gave the entrée great flavor. I'd definitely go back and eat here again. I enjoyed my meal at That Lebanese Place. The restaurant has an interesting design; plenty of Lebanese gewgaws and flags, but it looks like an old saloon. The service seemed a bit slow, especially in the back of the house, but I like to think that some cook dutifully preps each dish to order. I picked the falafel wrap with a side of fries, dressed all the way. The wrap uses a thin, rather than thick, pita bread and the falafel is smashed up so you won't have any errant bits of fried beans falling out on your plate. The flavors of the falafel paired well with the toppings, especially the pickled beets, while the fries were your standard skin-on spuds. I had the mixed grill, which consisted of chicken, lamb, and kibbeh (ground meat), and it was expertly grilled on skewers . It also came with a slaw, flavorful rice, and dipping sauces including tahini, an aioli and a tomato based sauce I couldn't identify, but it was delicious. OMG. This food was heavenly. I was hoping to find a place with good kebabs but I went for the kafta. This food is to die for. I stopped in and got the lunch special. I had the lentil soup which was amazing!! It was very light and the whole bowl didn't make me too full for the entree. I got the beef kafta, everything was fresh, and the spread was amazing, the entire dish went together well, nothing was too crazy or sour, it just complemented with great flavor. Their service was great, they're helpful and very polite and social, the atmosphere is great, calm, laid back and cultural.
