After trying the original location our very first night in Rome (two flights .. 16 hours later... and a 9 hour time change) my dad was still raving about our first meal. Due to all the factors listed above, I wanted to make sure our first experience was indeed the best pasta we had in Rome. This location DID NOT DISAPPOINT and my statement stands. We arrived at 12pm for lunch ( I know I know so early by Italy standards) but we had a train to catch! The restaurant was completely empty and I was worried it was actually closed. Luckily the door opened and we were happily greeted inside. At the first location, we were blown away by the Fettuccine al tartufo e porcini. My dad opted for that while I opted for the Spaghetti alla Amatriciana. Our waiter, Alex, was nice enough to suggest I swap the spaghetti for the Tonnarelli so I could try the fresh handmade pasta. Who knew that simply tomato sauce and cheese could be so delicious. I WAS IN HEAVEN! Since the restaurant was empty, we had the opportunity to chat with Alex and get to know him a little bit. Great place for large groups & date night. Authentic Italian pasta, & other dishes. I enjoyed a bottle of white wine in a ice bag and flavorful caccio e Pepe. The best pasta dishes in Italy thus far. Reservations are recommended due to the busy touristy area (across from Trevi fountain). If you ever visit Italy and especially areas like Naples, the attitude here is like NYC x 1000. Great hospitality and lovely restaurant. The food was delicious. The serving size for the carbonara was huge. It definitely can feed up to 2 people. The carbonara was rich, creamy, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. I wish I had a bigger stomach to finish the carbonara, but I ended up taking left overs to go. My finance had the lasagna and loved it. There are 2 locations. We went to their main location which was busy. The hostess was nice enough to walk us and another couple to their second location down a few blocks. We were seated right away. Overall, great dining experience. read more

The last time we were in Rome, we came to That's Amore, and this time we had to visit again. This is a lovely restaurant not far from the Trevi Fountain and just off the Via del Tritone. Definitely put this restaurant on your list to visit. We stopped in for lunch without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. The restaurant filled up quickly. I suggest you make a reservation so that you do not have to wait. We normally order their pizzas because they are thin and heart shaped. Today, we decided to try their pastas. What a great choice, we enjoyed pasta Carbonara (a classic Roman pasta dish with a sauce made of pork cheek, egg and pecorino cheese - all tossed until the sauce is creamy and delicious) and "Grandmother's Lasagna" (a specialty of the Emilia region, home-made lasagna made with meat sauce, tomato and fresh mozzarella). This was our favorite meal the whole time we were in Roma!!! I am so glad I stumbled across this place on yelp. Hands down the best fettuccine and homemade lasagna EVER!!! The focaccia bread was to absolutely die for as well. This meal was so enjoyable and it is such a cute little place too. With a name like that's amore what more could you want?! I highly recommend this place and wish we would have found this place before our last night in Roma cause we definitely would have eaten here multiple times to try different things. I know that everyone says steer clear of places that seem to target english-speaking tourists, but I feel this place is the exception. Good food, I suggest the gnocchi. The mozzarella was so very fresh. Seems like there is always a wait. We passed the restaurant a couple times and there was always a line out the door. I took a star / point away for two reasons. One because the food was good, but not incredible. So I think the prices were a bit too high. Second reason, is how they manage the large amount of guests is a bit odd. We showed up around 6:00PM and were told there are no tables available but they would have something free at 8:15PM if we wanted to make a reservation. We figured they were completely booked for the night. So we agreed. Later, we showed up a bit early to our 8PM reservation and there was a line going out the door. Turns out we didn't need to make a reservation. We could have just waited and got seated much earlier. We had an early train the next morning and would have much preferred that. This just felt a bit dishonest. If visiting I suggest calling ahead to get a reservation for the time you prefer. Otherwise, just ask to wait. What a great find! On a little side street this quaint restaurant serves excellent food and drink. We started with the bureaus with prosciutto and it was excellent. We had the Wild Salmon and the Squid w/potatoes and tomatoes. Both meals were excellent. Would highly recommend when traveling near the Trevi Fountain. read more

My wife and I were worried that this restaurant was a chain-type place due to the name. However, we spoke to a couple as they exited and they said it was great. We decided to give it a try and wow were we in for a treat. The place has a good atmosphere and the food was amazing. I had the fillet with pepper sauce and grilled potatoes. The Mrs had risotto with mushrooms. OMG. Amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and the price was for the 2 meals, a bottle of Viognier, and a bottle of sparkling water was $75US. I ordered a medallion steak which after 35 minutes it came a filet well done. The waiter said that it was the medallion although the guest on the table next to us ordered 10 minutes before us the same thing and it was a totally different steak. I would be ok if the waiter had said they ran out of it instead of lying. read more

This was our first full meal in Rome, conveniently located near our hotel. We were at first skeptical of a restaurant with an English word as part of its name, but reviews on Google were very strong. Thankfully those reviews lived up to expectations. I had the gnocchi, which was to die for -- extremely fresh, with incredible flavor, and true depth. The melted buffala in the center added a creamy touch, especially delicious with bread. My wife had linguine with pesto sauce and pine nuts and she was ecstatic (and she knows her pesto!). Disappointment! The Carbonara Pizza was not properly made. Expected more from a place with such good reviews. I hope the chef reads this review and realizes that the egg on a carbonara pizza should be runny and not hard boiled. We won't go back here again. This review would be totally different if I hadn't shown the chef the egg and gotten a response, "that's how it's supposed to be". I'm assuming this was a chef because on her shirt it said "chef". She spoke very good English but didn't know much about how a pizza carbonara should look and taste. read more

Don't let the name fool you to think it's a tourist spot. Had some of the BEST italian food while in Rome here! The Gnocchi was absolutely delicious. We waited for a long time outside but the food was well worth it. I would recommend calling in advance to make a reservation. Huge compliments to the restaurant on such an amazing staff! There was a female member of staff that we saw who was lovely and smiled and spoke you her customers unfortunately she wasn't looking after us! The two or three male members of staff that looked after us could barely take the time to take our order let alone smile! This was our last meal in Rome and it was unforgettable! Great customer service and delicious food! They are always busy so I'd recommend making a reservation. My husband and I both had homemade pasta. I had the pasta with the black truffle sauce, which was delicious. My husband had the pesto fettuccine which was just as delicious if not more so.
