Kel and I woke up and decided to walk over and check it out. We showed up 10 minutes before it actually opened, so we got a table. Early bird gets the worm. We got lucky because the place packed up quickly. Reservation is recommended. They served us homemade bread, it was heavy and dense but light at the same time. I know it doesn't make sense so if you ever get a change to bite into a piece you'll understand the words coming out of my mouth. Lol. Of course we ordered the buffalo mozzarella salad with tomatoes. It was extremely fresh all around. It was delicious!!! Recommended!! I ordered Gnocchi w/ pork chop sauce as my first course and let me tell you it was amazing. The sauce tasted like it stewed for hours upon hours. I loved it. One of the best I've had in Italy. Kel ordered the Maccheroncini pasta w/bacon artichoke and pecerino cheese for her first course. It was a bit salty but not bad at all. Worth a try. Then for our main course, yes our main course, - they do the four courses if you can handle that much food. Most places don't give you an American size portion of pasta - we ordered Saltimbocca alla Romana. It's a really thin slice of Veal topped with prosciutto and sage. It was slightly salty, not bad probably wouldn't eat it again. It was good for what it was. Not my cup of tea. Never had veal so we figured "When in Rome" Server was great. Things are different in Italy than the US. They are very chill and you need something you need to ask for it, like another glass of wine or even your bill. That's everywhere in Italy. I'm not calling out this place.

    Small but tasty filet.

Unfortunately, I have to say I felt everything about this restaurant was just ok from the service to the food to the ambiance. Nothing we ate was bad by any means; it was just not memorable. We did try a pumpkin risotto that i enjoyed, but it was quite expensive. My husband's filet was good but small for the price. Our pasta dish was just average as well. I think for the price (our meal cost $105) and the large sterile restaurant feel, there are many other places I would go first. It felt cold compared to all the small, welcoming family restaurants we had been to. The plaza outside the restaurant is quite fun, though- great market during the day and a fun nighttime atmosphere.

Great local pasta and drinks! I would highly recommend planning in advance if you want to visit. Make a reservation, because the restaurant is small and fills up fast, and check the menu in advance because some items are only available on certain days or during certain seasons. We walked by and decided to stop in for dinner. We waited about 30 mins for a table and hung out at the bar. The bartender was phenomenal and made us the best whiskey sours we've ever had! The pasta was definitely worth the wait. We got the carbonara (obviously) and another pasta dish with red sauce. The sauce was made with pork and it was amazing! Unfortunately we were too full for dessert but we saw a tiramisu being cut and it looked delicious!

While in Rome we asked our driver to bring us to a place locals would frequent. He quickly recommended La Carbonara. The place apparently is a favorite of the local police. This was one of our favorite eateries that we went to on our entire European vacation. Service was friendly and efficient. Our table of six noticed that our server took orders from another table of four then took our orders all without writing anything down. We said a prayer and hoped for the best. Astonishingly everything came out almost perfect. The "almost" part comes from my order of steak with rosemary and thyme. The flavor was good but a little salt was needed and when I asked for a medium when I got towards the center it was medium rare. One highlight was the burrata appetizer. My kids who apparently have mice genes love cheese but had never had burrata. They are now upset at me for being a bad parent and "holding out" on them. What...doesn't the 50 count cheese sticks from Costco count? Anyways they went through that like a chainsaw through paper. My daughter absolutely loved her pasta carbonara. Not too creamy. The red wine the waiter suggested was excellent. The restaurant itself has a family feel to it. Old lady behind the cash register. Maybe the daughter tending the bar. Dark woods with eclectic decor including a novel tradition of having customers write on the wall. Worth the try if you're looking for local non-tourist trap meal.

Fried veggies. Life changing. I know, just trust me.

We came here after trying another page that wasnt open. It was already on my to try list so so glad we wound up there anyway. The tables are close and cozy in only a manner the Roman's could pull off. The server was a little slow to come over but once he did it was ooonnnnnn. Appetizer: fried veggies recommended by the server. I'm not sure if veggies in the states suck so bad, but they were seriously amazing. Fresh, chewy, batter awesome. Finished with salt and lemon garnish for squeezing. I honestly could've eaten just this and another plate of this with a side of this. So good I forgot to take a picture of my main dish and dessert because I was still thinking about these. Carbonara: Excellent. Get it, not too heavy, not too much, not too greasy, just right. Steak with potatoes: best steak ever, better than the $$$$ steak houses we've been to I'm the states. Mouth watering, took time to cook, seasoned for the gods, tender, tender, pulled myself a piece from my husbands plate with only a fork delicious.

Really enjoyed the Amatriciana. The place is unique and the service was good. Will go back when staying close to Roma Termini.

A very solid restaurant. I am a very big fan of the traditional carbonara dish and I read online this was one of the best ones in the city. We ordered the fried artichoke, spaghetti pomodorini e pastacchi, carbonara and steak with rosemary and thyme. Fried artichoke heart is a Roman staple and a must try when visiting the city. The taste of the artichoke is almost like a soft pork fat. It is fried and then tossed with a little salt for taste. Nothing out of this world but a cultural experience. We ordered our own pasta dishes. My fiance ordered the carbonara, her favorite dish on the planet. She was so excited and loved the dish so much. Salty crispy panchetta crumbled over the top and al dente pasta. Hard to beat a really good carbonara. I ordered the pistachio spaghetti which was creamy and light. The pistachio flavor gives the dish a nice earthy taste. We shared the steak with rosemary and thyme. We ordered it medium and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering juicy meat tossed with fresh herbs. The service was alright. The kitchen took a little long to bring out our dishes and a waitress spilled a bottle of wine a few tables over so I guess we got lucky. The quality of the food is always what is most important for me. Service comes second to food when traveling abroad. But if you come to La Carbonara order... yes.... the carbonara

We were recommended this spot by many people all throughout Rome and just had to see what the hype was all about. So we decided to get to this spot around 630 pm and there was already a bit of a line outside the restaurant (we didn't have reservations). So a lot of locals did recommend this spot but did also say it's became a huge tourist trap which became apparent because around 7, the line tripled in size, we were lucky to get right in. We had a great waiter (forgot his name but originally from the Philippines) who gave us a bit of a history behind the restaurant before we went right into ordering. We started with burrata as an appetizer which was super super fresh. We then got rigatoni carbonara which was amazing and some American pasta that the server recommended which was also delicious. We also wanted to try their steak with rosemary which we said screw it let's order it and pig out and boy were we glad we did. It was cooked perfectly and extremely juicy. Overall an amazing spot. The reason it's 4 stars is because you have a time limit on how long you can be seated and they only give 1 person a WiFi code per table for only 20 minutes. But the food and service was delicious.

We happened to find this restaurant while walking around in Rome. There was a short line , so we decided to join. The staff was super friendly and efficient. We ended up ordering the fried vegetables (vegetable tempura) which was amazing, and Carbonara Pasta (more buttery rather than creamy). I would definitely come back again to try one of their other entrees. We enjoyed our Italian pasta dinner. :)

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. The amatriciana was good, but not worth a 2 hour wait in a line, 7.5/10. Pasta was perfectly al dente, but the sauce wasn't anything to die for. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. I could hear the people next to me better than I could hear the person across me haha.

Super pizza place with a lot of other great stuff on the menu…read more I looked with envy at the other tables who were enjoying spectacular plates of spaghetti with mussels. * * * That said, my pizza was a grand slam home run. Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
