The store is adorable and has fabrics I've never seen before. The prices were decent too. I was there for a specific fabric that was listed as in stock on their site so I went to check it out. I was not greeted when I entered, which I would expect to be at a Mom & Pop shop. I went in every room and eventually found the fabric I was looking for, but not on a bolt. Nobody asked if I needed help. They didn't ask what I was looking for. Nothing! I waited for 15 minutes and got completely ignored so I left empty handed. Nobody said have a good day or thanks for stopping by. Nothing! I left annoyed and spent my money on ETSY instead!!! read more

I have been in this shop several times to buy either fabric or notions since it's location is more convenient than Joanns for one or two items. The selection is ok considering that it is a small business HOWEVER, the employees are incredibly unfriendly! Every time I go in this business I feel unwelcome! Like I am bothering them by wanting to SPEND MONEY! I am so unimpressed by their rude attitudes, I think the added 10 minute drive to Joann is worth it. In this economy, I can't believe any small business would be anything but friendly and welcoming. That's Sew Debbie, you would benefit from hiring a sales person who is happy to be employed and excited to welcome paying customers. read more

I started a cross-stitched 50 states quilt in 1988, hoping to finish it for my 2 year old son's high school graduation. Well, he's now 33, and is expecting his first child in March and I really wanted to finish it! I got the top finished and it was too much for me to put together and quilt, so I took the top to "That's Sew Debbie" in Groton and daughter Jessica finished it for me. It's fantastic! I plan to go back and take some classes. The women that work there are full of fun and the shop has beautiful fabrics and great quilting ideas. read more

I am a confirmed fabri-holic and think purchasing fabric for a quilt is actually more fun than making it. Love shopping at That's Sew Debbie for the friendly, helpful staff and thoughtful collections she curates. The shop isn't huge but what she has is quality and every time I visit they have added more great fabric and accessories so always something new to see. Tons of samples all over the shop to inspire you and great classes not only for projects but also skill builders. Picked up the cutest kit to make a flannel quilt with gnomes! Had everything I needed and they helped me with the right amount of fabric for the back and the perfect thread and batting. Also played on a Handiquilter longarm they have for tryouts. They sell them and give lessons so you can rent time on theirs if you don't want to buy one. Well worth the visit and I will be sure to stop whenever I am in the area. read more

I've used this shop twice and both times I've sadly been unhappy. Not only was the tailoring lacking, but the shop workers are not very friendly at all. It seems like there are classes or clubs that meet there an unless you are known by the staff you are dismissed easily. The first time I had alterations done to a bridesmaids dress, something happened to the straps and one appeared to be longer than the other so when it was zipped up in the back I had a gaping rather than it lay flat against my body. I figured I'd try a second time because I don't like to rule a place out on an off day but the second time the staff was even less friendly. I asked if it could be done in two weeks since we were moving out of the area, I did not ask for it to be rushed and she did not make it seem as though that would be a problem. In the middle of packing and trying to set up arrangements for the next duty station I picked up the dress a few days late and when I went in got a huge attitude about how they had rushed it... I didn't ask for that and that was not stated to me. The most disheartening thing though is that it is shorter in the back than it is in the front, now I can't wear it to my daughter's baptism. read more

Not friendly place at all! Been there a couple times and each time they are less friendly. It's almost like if you don't know the family you are treated badly. My daughter (17yrs old) went in there one day as she was too early to go to work... I told my daughter that a lot of older ladies are in places like that that she would be welcomed in so she could just sit and do some homework til her work opens but boy was I wrong! She walked in and was approached by a lady who told her " what are you doing in here? Why would some kid off the street want to come in here" I was so upset they treated her that way.!!! No reason at all! She is very quiet and to her self. Not trouble causing or anything. My mom has quilted for years and I've been to a lot of those quilting places and the ladies are always so sweet. I thought my daughter would be comfortable there and feel safe while waiting but it was completely the opposite!!! I won't be back there I'll take my quilt business elsewhere for sure! read more
