A pad listing supplies wanted (e.g. towels, soap) can be filled out and affixed to the outside of the door. We found the housekeepers to be very prompt in filling our requests each day. I would sleep on the floor for Jeanette's breakfasts. And plan to order their homemade pizza and salad one night. It could be the best dinner of your trip. The house faces a gorgeous view of Lake Kueka, the Luna suite was spacious and comfortable, the bed was great, and each room has an en-suite bathroom. The whole house was spotless. We also took advantage of Steven's wine tour, letting him choose the destinations (excellent and varied) and drive so we could enjoy the tastings. He delivered a beautiful charcuterie board at our third stop. After a hard day of vineyard visits, we played pool, darts, and cornhole in Moonshadow's well stocked game room. Away from our temporary home, we visited the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, hiked to several waterfalls around Ithaca (Buttermilk Falls was our favorite), and enjoyed the Corning Museum of Glass. On Jeanette and Steven's recommendation, we stopped by the Muranda dairy farm in Waterloo for a cheese tasting. It was fabulous! Watkins Glen State Park is less than an hour away and you could even add a day trip to Niagara Falls. Whatever you do during the days, plan to start and end them at Moonshadow!

The location on Keuka Lake is serene and picturesque, with a small waterfall on the property. It is close to the Azure Hill, Dr. Franck, Heron Hill and Keuka Lake wineries. My wife and I stayed for four nights. The newly renovated rooms were large and comfortable. The coffee was ready early. The breakfasts were delicious. Whether we had eggs, bagels and lox, pancakes, or muffins, everything was well prepared and expertly presented. If wineries is your thing, Steven will chauffeur you around to some really nice ones, and throw in a brewery to boot. In the evenings, Jeanette and Steven are engaging to talk to and fun to be with. You will be happy if you go.

The motel is across the road on a hill from the lake where you can sit on a porch outside your room to enjoy the view. We loved the retro feel of this motel! The grounds were also kept up well with interesting shrubs. The porch chairs were very comfortable for outdoor patio furniture. The room we had must have been one of the smaller rooms. But the Amish quilt covered queen mattress was sooo comfortable. I slept very well, and that's not a given with me. The room was a bit quirky, with a high ceiling, but the bathroom door entrance, my husbands head at 6'2" just about hit the top of the door opening. The bathroom and showers were on the smaller side. The Tv was on a stand on one side of the bed. But no coffee to enjoy with the view! I see now some of the rooms have kitchenettes, but I kind of expected it in the lobby or something! But all and all, this is a charming little place to stay.

They were super conscious of my husband's allergies, to the point of getting locally sourced duck eggs to prepare his breakfast, as he's allergic to chicken eggs. Speaking of which - the breakfasts were amazing each day! Another couple there mentioned that they had never stayed in a B&B before and were commenting on how great it was - but this B&B is head and shoulders above any we've ever stayed at - I hope they don't expect this level of wonderfulness at every place they stay in the future, because the Beekman House is unique. We have mixed reviews of our stay last night at the Cook Mansion. First off... we had to second…read moreguess ourselves when driving in. The home itself is quite lovely and stately. However, there was no attention to detail with weed filled borders and no flowers or mums in the lovely urns gracing the front (unused) entrance. Our host Kris was very welcoming and gracious...Quite a conversationalist and made us feel at home. The interior of the home, had large common rooms, and was clean. It is in desperate need of area rugs, more furniture, wall decor, flowers... anything to add warmth. The room in which we stayed had a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Both very clean. However, staying at more B & B's than we can count, we were disappointed with the following: 1- A HUGE black plastic bag covered the waste can in our bathroom. I know that sounds petty, but we're in a B & B...not a Motel 6. There was no floor mat when exiting the shower so egress was onto the linoleum. 2- The windows were not only painted shut, but nailed shut. So, no fresh air. (Kris did provide a fan for our use). Most importantly there was no speedy escape route if there was (God forbid) a fire outside in the hall. (Fellow guess we met at breakfasts verbalized the same concern(s). 3- Breakfast was quite disappointing. Scrambled eggs, hash browns and Canadian bacon. All served in chafing dishes in the new, large kitchen. Again... this is fine, however, in a B & B, the breakfast is usually a looked forward to 'event'. Numerous boxes of Entemann's pastries were also available. Plastic utensils were set out, along with plastic cups for juice. Even though there was real silverware, glasses, etc., plastic was set out. Serving ourselves was perfectly fine, there was just no attention to detail. Large containers of sugar, powdered cream, etc., were set on the counters instead of lovely servers. It's the little things that make a B & B. So, all that being said we will not return. Although it is clean, right next to the lovely falls and within minutes of Watkins Glen.

They are wonderful, warm people who make staying in their B&B so relaxing and comfortable. The grounds are spectacular and so is Mary's cooking. Every day we had a delicious breakfast and a "bottomless" cookie jar with home baked treats. We like sitting with the other guests in the morning, getting to know other people from near and far. We've gotten great tips about interesting places to visit from the other guests as well as Mary and Peter. If we are really lucky, we will be able to get back there in the fall!
