Philly, pepperoni, and Italian strombolis
Binnan O.

Ambiance: Fairly standard bar with a closed off back room that could accommodate a live band. The bartender seemed to be running the whole place with a guy in the kitchen so service was a little slow but still very friendly and accommodating. Food: I shared 3 strombolis with my family. They were huge and packed with delicious fillings. The Italian was my favorite as it tasted like a standard combo pizza, the veges even still had a little bite. The pepperoni was also tasty with hand-cut pepperoni that had a little kick. The sauce for the pepperoni was fairly standard, I've had fresher and more flavorful sauces but it wasn't bad by any means. The philly stromboli was surprisingly good with thin sliced beef that had an authentic philidelphia flavor. The biggest flaw was that parts of dough were either burnt on the bottom or undercooked, especially at the ends. Once you avoid these parts, the strombolis were good. 2/3 of each can easily stuff a hungry person and 1/2 will leave you comfortable full. Mother in law had a burger served on a ciabatta bun but unfortunately was well done instead of medium rare like requested. Overall the food is pretty good but far from gourmet and with a fair amount of imperfections. Still, it's probably better than most non-chain options nearby.

We stopped here late in October and there was no wait. We say at a booth in the bar. The booth was cozy but held the four of us. We ordered the stuffed mushroom caps (stuffed with crab and cheese) and spinach and artichoke dip as appetizers and both alerted so good. You get four medium size caps with the mushrooms and a small bowl of dip with lots of bread for the spin dip. I recommend both. They were both delicious. We ordered the shrimp Alfredo, personal ham and pineapple pizza, bone in wings with hot sauce, and pepperoni Stromboli. Everything was pretty great. I was impressed with the Alfredo. It wasn't just a white sauce but really tasted like it was done right with melted cheese. The wings were also really great the "hot" sauce was spicy with a hint of sweet. The Stromboli was so great the dough was perfect. It was loaded with lots of cheese and pepperoni and they have a good red sauce. The atmosphere was very cozy and not busy. They have a pool table in the bar area. I would recommend to sit in the bar area and if you have four people to choose a bigger table but other than that, it had great food and it was a good time. Also, I should mention that our waitress was very friendly and did a great job.

Stromboli - so good and large enough to share

There didn't seem to be much to choose from dining wise while driving through Manistique, but I am thankful for Yelp and that we found this place! It was on the 4th of July so it was empty, but since the food was so good, I am still surprised. Our party was 4 adults (big eaters too) and we were able to share 2 strombolis they are that big! I would say they were about 18 inches long and if the dough is not made from scratch in house, they have an excellent vendor because even the dough tasted great. We ordered the Italian Stromboli and the pizza Stromboli and we would definitely recommend both. We also had the deep fried cookie dough bites (WHAT?!). The order was on the smaller side (I think we got 6 of them) but they are very rich so you don't need more than that.

Our first dining experience in Manistique, and not a bad one. The place isn't much to look at from the outside, but it has a certain old school charm inside. The business doesn't seem to believe in masks during COVID, but we wore ours and just trusted in the judgment of the locals. Together we had the walleye, the fried shrimp, dinner salads, hot wings, chili, and the dinner bread. All were very good or great, except the fried shrimp may have been a bit overcooked. The wings and bread were probably the highlights. The service was very good, and the cook even showed genuine interest in watching out for certain food allergies. Overall, probably not a 5-star place, but given the locale and the nature of the place, 4 stars seems about right. Tip: the menu prices (already a bit steep) are for cash. They add a 3+% fee for plastic. Signs are on the wall, but not overly prominent. Not a big deal to us, but we don't see that too often, so we felt it worthy of noting here.

Baked Brie

The baked Brie was delicious! The bacon and blue cheese burger (on a ciabatta roll) and Greek pizza were also very good. The service was very fast. The chips weren't that great - I would recommend upgrading to fries.

This place has one of the best greek pizzas we have ever had. We didn't have a lot of restaurant options in manistique and we were a little hesitant because it seemed more a bar than a restaurant but we loved the food and the service was great. We will return for sure!!!!

Bring back Pickles! Your pizza was so good and now like everything else, you can't even get a decent pizza in this town!

Best Stromboli I've ever had. Hand made, full of toppings, generous amount of cheese, and some of the best dough I've ever had.

Oh how I wish this place would have been better. It's a…read morecute place and our server did a great job overall. Those are the highlights. My friend ordered the kabob dinner and said it was good...but over $20 for some veggies is crazy. My gyro and truffle fries....honestly I should have just sent them back. This is one of the most disappointing meals I've had recently. They put a tomato paste on it that I almost requested without, but trusted it would be interesting. It literally tasted like cheap canned tomato paste. Gross and certainly doesn't blend well on a gyro. The lamb meat itself had a decent taste, but the way it is served makes it difficult to eat in a pita. Gyros are typically chopped or shaved lamb which makes it easier to eat and helps ensure you're getting more lamb per bite. Served in these strips, it was just falling apart and not blending with the feta. The fries...terrible. Just terrible. $6 to sub truffle fries which seems like too much but I hadn't had them in a long time so had to go for it. Listed in subs it simply says truffle fries, so I didn't know they were going to be covered in liquid cheese. They ARE listed in appetizers with the full description but I didn't look there until after bc I didn't order an appetizer. The cheese was awful, completely overwhelmed the TINY bit of truffle taste, and SO salty! Take a look at the picture and decide for yourself if the gyro and fries is worth $23. I eat a lot of gyros, and this being the most expensive one I've had is the worst. Heads up that they charge a service fee. Doesn't bother me as I always tip at least 20% but no one pointed that out and I'm not really sure what it's for. Does that go into the servers pocket or? Won't be going back to find out.

We ordered a couple of adult beverages and while waiting for our lunches, kicked back to enjoy the signs and Knick-knacks. I love learning trivia, and now I know what a goat locker is :-) My hub got the BBQ burger, which came with crispy fries. He said it was delicious. I got the pasty with brown gravy, and it was ginormous! Eating it took me back to childhood...my mom's pasties were almost just like this (hers were a little heavier on the rutabaga, so they were always soggy). It came with a side of coleslaw, so that makes it healthy, right?! Very reasonably-priced meal, especially considering the remote location. Hope we get a chance to come back someday.
