Love the vibes! Short's Brewing Company and Beer Garden are off the chain! Who doesn't love live music in an open air space? Said no one! We started off at the beer garden. The lines move fast so I got my cider. The porta potties are clean! Don't let them scare you. Ample seating and floor space if you feel like dancing. There is a burger food truck. You can run over to Short's to order pizza too. We opted for pizza! Joppa with add mushrooms... so good! The brass band from NOLA was great. Easy parking just around the corner. As always, the selection and quality of beers impressed and the food was just as good as last time. we have a cabin in Central Lake with is literally the next town over so we eat a shorts a lot. the spinach and artichoke garlic dip, they call it "exactly where I'm at" was amazing as usual. We ordered pizza. I don't remember the name of it, but it was also amazing. We had our kids with us and they ordered off the kids menu and they were satisfied with their choices as well. Never had a bad time here really service was decent, but it did take a little while to get the food, but it was busy so that's kind of expected. I will say that some of the staff are not the greatest tools in the shed and somewhere a little rude but the one that took our order was excellent. Last time we were here they had a live band and it was a five star experience. read more

We found free street parking easily a block away at 5pm on a Thursday. We were sat immediately because this place is GIGANTIC. I think it takes up 3-4 store fronts and is easily the biggest business in town. We loved the pretzel and beer cheese, especially how they use the spent grain. The white pepper sandwich lived up to the reviews. We tried 10 beers (2 flights); all solid - none of them were bad or knocked our socks off. We liked all the experimental flavors. Fun place to hangout, get something to eat, and have a pint. When we were leaving there was quite the line despite the brewery's massive size, so go early! The vibe is casual and welcoming, and the food is great. We started with cheesy garlic bread and soft pretzels--classic, done right, and exactly what you want with a beer in hand. Then came the pizzas and deli sandwiches They both were exceptional. Every sandwich was something you would remember and for us, go back for, multiple times a year. The sandwiches were packed with fresh deli meat and layered with flavorful additions like roasted red peppers, or avocados. You don't usually leave a brewery craving the sandwich more than the beer, but here we were. You will love it Their menu is actually full of options: pizza, wraps, salads, soups, appetizers, and about 20 draft beers on tap--many of which you can only get at this location. Soft Parade is a go-to in our family. It's a fruit-forward ale with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, but it's not syrupy or sweet. It's clean, easy-drinking, and distinctly Short's. That's part of what makes their lineup so good--there's something for everyone. Service is good. Popped in for lunch today and I am so glad we did. We were warmly greeted by the staff and seated near the very cool stage. We split (and fought over) a bowl of Creamy Artichoke & Spinach soup that vastly exceeded my expectations. Another winner was the Joppa Road pizza (house made sausage, roasted red pepper, onion and hint of chili flakes.) which we loved and were impressed by how good the gluten free crust was. Waiter tried to convince us that we ordered something we didn't , even though we've been coming to Shorts for nearly 15 years, still kept the items charged on the bill. This was among multiple issues that prompted me to reach out to customer service. They responded quickly, and added the pub management team to the email, but they never engaged in communication, even after a week later when I asked about no follow-up. Short's Brewing has solid food and beer, and their Thursday night pizza deals are a nice perk. Prices are fair, and the overall vibe is good. That said, the service was just okay. No one was rude, but I didn't get the sense that the staff really cared we were there. Nothing above and beyond, just the bare minimum. I came back the next day and had an even worse experience. I waited in line for a beer, and when it was finally my turn, the bartender started taking other orders and cleaning instead of acknowledging me. I totally get that they're busy, but a simple "Hey, I'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. Instead, I just left. Absolutely loved the variety of beers on tap. We ate on the patio out front since there was a wait to sit inside. It was very convenient ordering your food outside. Great consistent brews with a bevy of very creative pours. Boy had the jalapeño Mac. He was a fan. I had the mutilated lips pie. Get one every time I'm there. Great pizza! Newest room is loud. That is the only down side. Prefer summer visits that can be outside. Still, a winter trip to Short's makes me think of summer. read more

Atmosphere-5/5 Clean, fun, and ascetically pleasing brewery. We came during trivia night (Thursday) which adds to the fun. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a laid back vibe that I can only describe as similar to the breweries I have visited in Colorado (which is a big compliment). Food Quality- 5/5 I got the White Pepper Sandwich which was delicious. The only way to make it better would be to make it bigger. My wife got the Sketches of Winkle grinder which was equally delicious. Each sandwich came with a bag of chips which were kettle style. Beer- 5/5 I've had Short's before but this was my first time visiting the brewery. The selection is what you would expect at a brewery and the quality is top notch. Service- 4/5 No complaints here. Nothing over the top but also attentive and efficient. Value- 2.5/5 Almost all of the beers and hard ciders were $6 per 16oz glass, which I think is very reasonable at a brewery. And while the food was delicious, the portions aren't anything to write home about. I knocked value down by a star because the sandwiches come with chips ($2.50 to substitute a side). For $16, it would be nice if a sandwich automatically came with a more premium side. Most of the pizzas were $15 for a small and $29 for a "large" big enough for two people. Essentially, they have the menu setup where most people will spend at least $15 per person on food and $6 per drink. $42 per couple plus tax and tip= ~$50, $60+ for dinner and 2 drinks per person. Overall- I enjoyed the experience and would come back again when in the area. They do live entertainment on Friday's and Saturday's so I would recommend checking the schedule and visiting then. read more

This was my first trip to Short's Brewing Company in Bellaire. We came in around 1:30 PM on a Thursday in early March. My first impression was how big the brewery was. In addition to the outdoor patio, it seems like five huge storefronts were conjoined to create multiple rooms for eating, drinking or listening to music. We were set up at a high top in the room with the stage. We were greeted right away and asked if we had been there before. I said no that this was our first time there and our hostess said welcome and found us a great table. I had a flight of beers; huma luma, good neighbors, the magician, nitro, stout and Eddie's RV. I've had Huma Luma before, it's a great IPA and does not disappoint to those who want extreme hops. I love pub Brown ales, and enjoyed both the good neighbors and the magician... the magician was my favorite out of the group, I ordered a pint of that as well. The nitro stout was very solid and had a very similar Guinness type of head. Eddie's RV was a little bit of everything, including peanut butter... it was drinkable, but maybe not my favorite. My wife ordered a cup of Joe Stout. It had a great coffee taste, and awesome flavor. We both had a big breakfast so the only food we ordered was the half nachos with pulled pork. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. The pork had a good smoky flavor and the nachos came with both salsa and a sour cream dipping sauce... I enjoyed everything about the nachos, except for some of the hottest jalapeños I've eaten in quite some time... I needed an additional water (I like spicy foods too ;). The waitress told me they had just switched their jalapeños to a different vendor and the new ones were very strong. So beware of the jalapeños!!! Or maybe order without the jalapeños if you don't like to breathe fire! I loved our trip to shorts... I hope to come back and enjoy one of the pizza nights or the pub trivia on Thursdays. read more

I was staying nearby with family and we wanted takeout after spending a day out on Torch Lake. Short's, with their delicious beers and accessible menu was the winner of our search. There were 7 of us so our order was fairly large but they managed it with aplomb. Nachos, pizzas, pretzels, salads, sandwiches....our order had it all and all was delicious. I personally had the "I don't want to leave you on the farm" salad which was pretty much their version of a cobb and it was delicious. My husband and I also split an order of the soft pretzels. One of our party is allergic to peanuts so we had to pass on the Soft Parade jam and peanut butter swirl (much to my sadness, it sounded so good!) but the Huma Lupalicious cheese spread was very satisfying. We decided not to overwhelm the staff when placing our order and include beer requests so we popped into the shop when we went to pick up our food and picked up several cans and bottles of tasty brews for each person to enjoy on a dockside sunset. Short's Brewing Company I've had my eye on for a little while. The opportunity arose for me to try one of their beers and I was very glad to have gotten a hold of it. Psychedelic Cat Grass us the beer that Steve and I had a pint of. This beer is an IPA and like it's namesake it does have a grassy flavor aspect to it but it's more on subdued and much of the time you get the hops that makes up this pretty solid IPA. Good start for trying out this brewery and if another opportunity arises to try more of their beers then I certainly will! read more

We came late hoping for a couple last call drinks. The staff was so friendly! I was expecting a grumbled "sure"- but they said the place closes at midnight, so we were welcome to stay. So many beers and ciders to choose from! Over 2 days I tried 3 different drinks and they were all great. I really liked the Squishy and Pina Colada ciders. Tons of flavor without being cloyingly sweet or artificial tasting. The Nicie had great flavor balance and was really interesting. I wish we had more time in the area and less plans, I would love to try their food. We saw a pizza and it looked great. The staff was cleaning, as we were the only people there (totally fine), and let me tell you- that place is CLEAN! I was amazed how much effort they put into it. read more
